Gregg Oppenheimer
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 2 มี.ค. 2014
GREGG OPPENHEIMER, son of "I Love Lucy" creator-producer-head writer Jess Oppenheimer, left a successful law career in order to complete his late father’s humorous memoir, "Laughs, Luck…and Lucy: How I Came to Create the Most Popular Sitcom of All Time" (Syracuse University Press). The book’s success led to Gregg’s hit comedy play, "I Love Lucy: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom," which aired on public radio in 2018 (now available at LATW.org). From 2000 to 2007, Gregg produced the multi-award-winning "I Love Lucy" DVD Series for CBS. Starting in 2014 Gregg co-wrote and directed the annual Palm Springs benefit show "ON THE AIR: An Evening of Live Radio Classics!" for the award-winning Dezart Performs theatre company, directing such performers as Gary Beach, Carole Cook, Joyce Bulifant, Mariette Hartley, Hal Linden, Gavin MacLeod, Millicent Martin, Lee Meriwether, Phil Proctor, Marion Ross, and Fred Willard. Gregg is a member of ASCAP and The Dramatists Guild of America.
Lucille Ball rehearses the very first episode of "I Love Lucy"
This "magic snapshot" (colorized by yours truly) was taken on September 8, 1951, on Stage 2 of General Service Studios in Hollywood, as the "I Love Lucy" cast and crew prepare to film the very first episode’-"Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying to Murder Her." Lucy, her hair still in a babushka, practices a bit of business in the kitchen as the crew rehearses their camera movements.
The Desi Arnaz Orchestra, led by Musical Director Wilbur Hatch (facing the band, in gray pants, white shirt and suspenders) is there to provide live underscoring during filming (a practice abandoned after the first episode). The orchestra's bandstands bear the initials "DA" ("Desi Arnaz"), but will soon be repainted "RR" ("Ricky Ricardo"). This is the first time in history that a TV show will be filmed with multiple moving cameras in front of a live studio audience-something made possible by Director of Photography Karl Freund's innovative "flat" lighting system, using lights suspended from the catwalks above the set. Over the newly-built bleachers, hockey-puck-shaped microphones hang down, ready to capture the audience's laughter during that evening's filming.

In 1958, when Shari Lewis was a popular local kids’ daytime TV personality in NYC but largely unknown to the rest of the nation, my father flew her out to Hollywood to film a pilot for NBC. When she arrived, my parents took her to dinner at Chasen's. Shari later told me that her biggest thrill was when Groucho Marx came over to their table and wiggled his eyebrows at her. That, she said, was th...

If only our t-rump was somewhat as well-spoken and likable as this one...
There's a new sheriff in town. ☆ Harris is the name.
Writers on this show probably modeled this character on Fred Trump. Wood Guthrie had written a song about the Donald's slumlord father back in the day.
If you could tell people in 1958 that this would be a reality in 2016, they wouldn't believe you! For those who think this clip was edited, the episode of Trackdown, season 1, episode 30, titled The End Of The World aired on May 9th, 1958, when POTUS non grata Donald Trump was 12 years old. The character played by Lawrence Dobkin was in fact named Walter Trump.
Can someone tell me were season 1 is.
But...that Trump told the people that Mexico would pay for the wall, too?
What was the title of the episode?
So true to life. Just one thing. Trump there's a new Sheriff for the people. KAMALA HARRIS.
Could this be AI….
I remember seeing it on the old zenith tv
You’re a liar trump. 😂😂
This is unreal. That’s how trump should look. No hair. This should go super viral.
Right down to the threat of “I’LL SUE YOU!”
Man this is spot on. Good job
This is so right for the 21st Century indicted Trump. The lies, the crimes and bullying. Jack Smith hit the nail on the head about this fraudster.
Damn according to this, at the end, it is based on a true story from Texas!
He even looks like his daddy...
here to let yall know i’m a time traveler , just came back from 2029. y’all are screwed. take care.
Let me guess: Trump changes the Constitution so a natural born citizen is not a requirement for president, and Elon Musk becomes president in 2028?
@@timandmonica Musk?? Nope, it will be either Don jr, Eric or Ivanka! Kushner will be VP either way!
Better than that... An episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, from the 80's or 90s, has a scene where they are in a room full of nazi flags. One of the comedic commentators says something like... "look it's a Trump rally!".
This is a weird one. If I didnt know it was a real tv series Id think it had to be an AI creation. The premise that a con man claims that a wall can stop a meteor shower - and people believe it - is pretty out there. Yes people believe a lot of bull, but this is even more out there than believing a wall will stop immigration! Just like a parody of the parody that is Trump!
This absolutely needs to go viral. I'm doing my part - sending it to everyone I know!
👍👍
I've always been a big fan of Mel Blanc !❤ He was extremely talented !❤
Did Trump watch this show??? WEIRD!!!!
She was just as great as Mister Rogers and Edgur Bergan. RiP Sheri Lewis.
"It's funny how a BIG LIE can make us all kids again." Prescient.
We need walls around Trump at the penitentiary
I'll sue you! 🤣🤣😂😂🤑🤑
How $tUpiD can you Democrats be?!! 😕🙁☹
I give up. How can you accurately gauge intelligence when you are a gullible rube in a cult of personality supporting a POS criminal conman rapist? That's what represents you? FDJ6T
Definitely not as $tUpiD as any given Trumper!
I am working on an article centered on the word, "admire." It is taking longer than usual - weeks. I seldom put that much time into an essay, mostly, in this case, gap time, walking away from it and walking around with it. When I write it, it will take less than an hour. Reflection: I admire so many people, so many of you, for so many reasons. Question: If I admire a young person and they know it because I let them know it, does that offer them an incentive to live even more admirably? I admire you like I admire a magnificent work of art or a sublime piece of music. Pardon my staring and eavesdropping. I was browsing TH-cam for a perfect video montage of art and classical music for the above posting when I found this. It diverted and subverted me with joy. I am joining that society forthwith.

I grew up on Lamb Chop's Play Along, this is a piece of her history I didn't know about.. What a wonderful clip to witness ❤️

How I long for the days of talent, class, and charm. This was such a sweet and special performance.

I always wondered where that counter in the kitchen was in relation to the fourth wall. In one episode where Lucy is babysitting bratty twins, one of them draws on it, so it can't be flush against the fourth wall. So what didn't we see?
Trust me.... you'll never have to vote again
That was simply marvelous!
You made the photo come to life! Well, pretty darn close. Thanks, Gregg!
OH MY GOD WHAT A COINCIDENCE 100% TRUE A PROPHECY FOR AMERICA
Did Wilbur Hatch and Orchestra perform the music live on set?
See the description. If you're talking about the music heard on the TV show, they only did it for the first episode, and even on that episode they re-recorded it in post-production and the re-recorded music was what was heard on TV. But the orchestra was there for every episode, to play before filming started and during delays for the cameras to re-load and costume changes. Those delays weren't very long. The average I Love Lucy episode took only 45 minutes to film from start to finish. There was a "no retakes" rule (they couldn't afford the cost of the extra film). Most episodes had at least one "Insert shot" (usually a closeup from an angle that wasn't possible during filming), which was filmed after the audience had left.
This woman was wonderful my child hood!!! ❤
something so simple and made children every where SO happy, including me. She was very talented and obviously really cared about kids. What a treasure! Thank you so much for uploading this!
Thank you, dear Gregg, for brightening our world with these uncut gems (uncut only literally, as they still have the commercials, which makes them only more precious). What a family legacy! Remarkable. Very, very grateful to you, as are surely all the other TH-cam viewers here. I wish we could see all the episodes. Are some lost? I hope not... Thanks again!
The lead character, Angel, is French Actress Annie Fargé; her husband was played by Marshall Thompson. I think it is Don Keefer who plays the role of the fellow who drops in. This program is titles, "Angel's Temper" and aired on November 10, 1960.

My voice over where are you
My first time seeing angel and i love it.❤
That’s Tommy Ralls
This is priceless. Angel was a terrific little show. Angel was a French "Lucy" and so darned cute. It didn't last long but I remember it happily.
Love Mike Nichols ❤
