No, I've owned a couple of these systems here in L.A and also Las Vegas where the water is HARD! Never had a problem at all. I change the filters probably less than I'm suppose to but I just wait till the water starts to taste weird.

Will the filters be damaged or absorb the hydrogen peroxide if I don't replace after sanitizing?

Wonder if a few drops of iodine / Povidone-iodine would work as it has been used for water purification historically.

hi and thanks for taking the time to explain sanitizing..I have one question..Will the bleach/peroxide damage the ro membrane if its not being replaced and left attached during the sanitizing? It only needs to be replaced every 2-5 years

Great video! Thanks! how do you turn off a valve when the system is attached to a refrigerator? I see a clear tube going behind my refrigerator (installed by the previous homeowner), I don't know how to turn it off? There is a valve behind the refrigerator. When I turn that valve, the water starts to come out. Any suggestions?

thanks for sharing the video. I have a similar RO system that is a yr old. last week the counter top started getting flooded with water leaking out of the faucet. I am trying to troubleshoot, but cannot pinpoint the issue. the leaking has now stopped but there is only a trickle from the faucet. All the water is going down the drain line in the faucet. Any advice? thanks in advance.

Check the air gap in the faucet for any debris. Then check your Drain line for any clogging

Thanks for this! I just replaced my membrane after having my unit for 2 years, but neglected to sanitize. Whoops. Am I basically drinking bacteria rich water?

Thanks nice video, but when did Beck Bennett start DYI videos?

I'm pretty sure the sanitizing is only going into the tank and not through the filters or membrane.

Water tank is full of water with 60 PSI and a little bit drinking water comes from the top when open. Recharge the tank at 10 PSI. still a very weak drinking water comes out.I have replaced all filter except Membrane.

I have someone wanting to charge me $145 for "service" to do a 10-point service and change pre and post filters. I think I'd like to do this myself! Replacing the filters in your video does not seem difficult. I wonder what else he does in this 10-point service on the outside unit. Any idea?

I have the same system and using it in Milpitas, CA. municipal water system. I notice every 3 month, my RO pure system would come to a halt. Changing the filter woudl reset the system and working functionality. 3 Months seems to soon. Did you run into issues having to change out your filters sooner than 6 month at a time?

When I disconnected the blue tube (0:50), water started spraying from the tank. Even though I turned off the water supply and let the RO faucet drain completely first. Wonder what I'm doing wrong?

Well I just let it spray, tried to catch most of it in a tub. After a while it stopped. Just be sure you have plenty of rags and towels around in case this happens to you. Still not sure why this happened.

The tank was probably not completely drained. Part of the complete process should include properly pressurizing the tank with a bicycle pump. The manual says between 5-7 lbs of pressure WHEN IT IS EMPTY. But to empty it you may need to add air. So after the RO faucet slows to a drip start adding air to the little valve and you may be surprised how much more water comes out. A digital gauge is good for measuring low pressures. When the pressure is 5-7 lbs AND no more water comes out of the faucet, the tank is empty.

This is not going to properly flush the filters doing it like this. You are going to flush carbon into your membrane and not properly flush your membrane and post filters. You are also going to then flush higher tds water and your preservatives into your bladder after you just spent the time sanitizing your tank.
