People were flummoxed after the first couple of weeks after our defense played lackluster football. Schoen let young leader & solid safety Xavier McKinney walk in free agency. I loved McKinney & believe in retaining our own which Schoen has done but you can’t keep everyone. He focused money on the Ofeensive & Defensive lines. So we added pass rushing stud Brian Burns to rising Giants defensive stars Kayvon Thibodeaux & Dexter Lawrence. Remember Azeez Ojulari is no slouch. His issue has been injuries. Schoen drafted ballhawking safety Tyler Nubin in Rd 2 & Swiss Army knife corner Dru Phillips. Both have been outstandding. We had a great deaft & we have young rookies starting in critical spots like free safety, nickel corner & tight end. The defense had to get used to a new defensive system under defensive coordinator Ryan Bowen who’s system is fundamentally different than Ex-DC Wink Martindale. I like Wink but he has a big ego & he butted heads with Daboll which caused drama. Now we are seeing our defense get comfortable with the new system. They are flying around, swarming & tackling hard. Despite tough losses all I have seen is relentless effort, heart & hustle. They are improving each week. The most encouraging thing is we are seeing that DC Bowen makes adjustments & adapts on the fly. His system usually relies on front 4 getting pressure & not being blitz crazy like Wink. After a slow start in Games 1 & 2 we saw the Giants blitz more as d-coord Ryan Bowen changed things up. Now the Giants lead the league in sacks & they’ve been dominant in the past few games. Bowen & the Giants defense are making in game adjustments which is huge because too often we have seen them trying the same things over & over without making adjustments or adapting. When we won we had a bruising Oline & a punishing defense lead by pass rushers like Strahan, Osi, Tuck & Kiwi. Now we have Sexy Dexy, Kayvon & Brian Burns along with a healthy Azeez Ojulari which is huge. With Kayvon possibly out for a bit our depth is crucial & having Ojulari is vital. I expect this defense to get better & better as they get more comfortable in Bowen’s system & the young rookies adapt to the pro game. We are seeing improvement each week. Could this team actually be pretty good? I think the answer to that question is yes.
Dexter Lawrence going from a 1 tech (in the a gap lined over the center basically) on the right side to the a gap on the opposite side as soon as the ball is hiked is actually Insane. How does someone that large move like that. He was supposed to be double teamed on that first play they just couldn’t get to him
The Seahawks Oline stinks... Its no secret... The Seahawks were complete idiots for not trying to run the ball throughout the game to keep the Giants honest and wear down their defense... They completely underestimated the Giants.
How are my Seahawks going to leave rookie Christian Haynes on Dexter Lawrence one on one? 😅
