I love how fast Poles rebuilt this defense. It seems like yesterday when Roquan Smith and Khalil Mack were traded. Now this defense is arguably the best in the league.
Gervon Dexter is a star in the making. He is a great player and has really good skill set. He has shown improvement to his game and decision-making in when to drop back or rush the passer. Also, I have to give Eric Washington credit to his coaching and getting the best from our defensive line. He has said time and time that he would like to get pressure from rushing 4 only.
@@soundautomatic1 he still keeps his pad levels high too. I’m not knocking him he’s my favorite player on the D. If he consistently keep those things under control he can be another Aaron Donald.
Shout out to Ryan poles and Matt Eberflus. Every one was very critical of them for drafting. Dexter at a college given his low stats but they knew his potential and knew that it was just a different scheme he was playing in college. Clearly it's starting to pan out now!
You’re showing Taylor making these great plays in the run game and I’m watching Dexter getting cut off by the tackle and scoop (combo) blocked where the tackle cuts him off and the guard is able to get to the linebacker and I’m no longer wondering why the Bears get gashed in the run. If he can get fast off the ball he’ll be unstoppable.
Dexter reminds me a lot of Calais Campbell. he is super tall and strong and can really move. he can play any position on Dline as well, inside or outside. Sweat and Dexter are one hell of a combo for the next 5 years or more

Line play is the win or loss in every game. qb's wr and rb's get the tv time but they don't do anything without both o-line and d-line determining the success or failure of every play. Oh and offensive holding should not be a penalty lol
Jervon Dexter Sr. already has 4 total sacks. That includes two half sacks from this game. Carter? Zero sacks so far this season. lol! Poles knows what kind of character matters on the team he is building. Taylor was a sneaky good signing too as you are pointing out. The Bear defense hasn't given up more than 21 points since last season and that 21 was against the Colts a few weeks ago. BEAR DOWN!!
I can't believe a bunch of Chicago radio personalities have been so adamant that coach Eberflus should be on the hot seat. He and his staff have engineered one of the top 5 defenses in the league and it's getting better. It's by far the best thing about this Bears team and the reason they're not 1-4. The culture of the team is also good. Getting rid of Eberflus and staff and starting over on defense is insane. Sports media in this town is stupid and toxic.
By and large this was great analysis and breakdown. However, that comment near the beginning of the video calling the Bears' defensive line "one of the best in the NFL" was a bad joke. The story of this week's game against Carolina is that a mediocre and unimpressive defense managed to look spectacular. Still, the individual play breakdowns here were excellent.
Our DTs like Dexter are more Run Stoppers. We do have decent DE Passrushers. We need more people to get off of the block to the QB. The best Pass Rusher in Bears history is Doug Atkins.
