My personal theory not based on Zelda lore is that Kass is clearly a blue & gold macaw parrot and he can only survive in a warm or tropical habitat. The Rito, including his wife, look more like "generic" birds that you see in all climates. Kass's children are effectively mixed-race from a bird perspective, but they won't have problems with the environment due to their mother being a local Rito. But as a parrot, Kass had to leave when Rito village got covered with snow. His family are probably not worried as it's a planned trip and he would return once the village went back to normal. It's also interesting that he was replaced by Penn who's a pelican and more adapted to temperate climates. Penn's mannerisms and his vintage flying helmet and goggles make him appear quite american, so my bets are on him being an American White Pelican.
Basically both Kass and Penn are _migratory birds_ who need to move to other environments as per the changing of the Seasons. Makes sense and it would explain his family having a reason not to talk about him.
Hey, yeah! Kass is a migratory bird, so it stands to reason that he has consistently taken an extended trip every year around this time of year, and it's just a coincidence that the upheaval (and therefor, this game) took place during his absence. His wife and children aren't concerned because he has always traveled during this season.
Another theory: Kass is always somewhere else on the map. Link just keeps missing him. Hence why none of the NPCs mention anything significant happening to Kass, as he is just traveling Hyrule like he always does.
I was so sad that Kass wasn't in this game 😭. I wanted more Kass stories! What also doesn’t make sense is that his wife and five daughters were still around and not once did they mention their father. Why, Nintendo? WHY?!
The fact that they don't mention him kind of implies 1 of 2 things: A) He died somehow in between the 6 years seperating BotW and TotK which would be weird since you would expect _something_ in Rito Village to allude to Kass's death like a memorial, grave or even his accordion lying around somewhere. B) He's on a "musical journey" beyond Hyrule by the time of the Upheavel which is why they don't mention him been fully aware that their father is away in a long trip giving them no reason to mention him since they know he's not going to come back for a long time. Personally i lean on option B) given the evidence is far more plausible without arguing for the Rito to be extremely emotionless to pay no respect to that one famous accordion Rito player who died only a few years ago.
@@javiervasquez625I also lean on Option B, for one simple reason: Link has apparently been away from Rito Village since the end of BotW, Tulin and his family pretty much say just that when you first arrive in TotK. When you met up with Kass' family, like the video says...they say nothing. Except for the one statement from Genli. Surely, they would've managed to mention something to Link if anything did happen since it's been years. He's alive out there.
I actually really miss hearing his accordion when playing TOTK. It was comforting hearing it in each stable and around Hyrule itself in BOTW that I didn't realize it at the time that it was one thing that made BOTW memorable to me. I do like the new band music in TOTK, but nothing will beat hearing Kass playing his accordion.
I think it’s also the fact that he tends to show up in the middle of nowhere, seemingly hostile environments. But hearing his theme brings a sense of safety.
If Rito happen to have some kind of a meaning to represent some portion of the fans in real life, similar to how playing character is the one representing the player, Kass could be a love letter to indie devs and turn up in an Indie game like Crypt of the Necrodancer.
I think Kass was sent by Zelda to the lands outside of Hyrule as an Ambassador. Both to find Hyruleans that left during the calamity and to start talks with other kingdoms.
"Ambassador Kass" sounds cool i really wish we had a DLC or something where we saw him in full ambassador clothing travelling to another land like Labrynna.
What would also be cool is if there’s a cutscene of a prince from a faraway kingdom having a vision from the demon dragon trying to temp him into breaking his seal by trying to have him convinced that the demon dragon is a holy dragon
Kass not being in TotK is why I thought there was gonna be dlc until the announcement, though now it has changed to my theory that Nintendo possibly told the Zelda team to shift focus to making a game for their next console rather than dlc for TotK, which would explain stuff like Kass and how once again we are two hearts short of 2 full rows.
Yeah, same thought. He was supposed to come back from his journey for the DLC, but they canned the DLC and either couldn't or didn't have time to work him back in. I'm sure Nintendo needed all hands on deck for the Switch 2, but it's still a bit sad to see this unresolved.
@@zane.s.5491 While it definitely could be an NDA thing, it could be that they're going to just drop a DLC right at Christmas or in February or whatever, all the hype has been sucked out of the community for one. I do still sort of think they could drop master mode without announcement or they could even sell a BotW+TotK+DLC 4K edition for the Switch 2. But, for now, I don't think there's any real reason to hold out hope
Although I was somewhat sad not to see him in Tears of the Kingdom, it's another element that helps make Breath of the Wild feel more unique and special. Plus, imagine we are on some other Legend of Zelda adventure in the future, and just hear that magical accordion sound out in the distance... I look forward to that day.
Here's a bit darker theory: Kass wandered into the depths and found...muddle bud. He started rolling and smoking muddle bud for inspiration. But his addiction got so bad he was sent to an undisclosed location for rehab. Everyone in the Village knows what happened and are keeping it a secret to support his family. But because of the shame, his wife moved to the lodge to help wayward travelers. And as far as the kids know -- Papa Kass is on a very long adventure. Get well and come back soon Kass.
You forgot a part: He didn't go to rehab right away, after he got out of the depths, he played a few more shows, each getting more chaotic than the last. But on his last show, his set got cut short and he flew into a glorious rant about how he had "ONE clucking minute" left because the organizers decided that "that green son of a Horriblin, Tingle" deserved more time on stage. He also declared that he is, in fact, not "the clucking Stable Trotters" after which he smashed his accordion in glorious fashion before marching off the stage while giving the audience the bird. That was the point when he decided that he smoked too much and needed rehab. But as you mentioned, the Rito decided not to talk about it.
For me definitely on vacation or a trip for music. Another Rito establishment is possible as Yona mentioned she came from another domain if I remember correctly (childhood friend of sidon who most likely moved away 100 years ago and returned later on after Hyrule was in peace)
That was my guess. When Yona talked about coming from a Zora community outside of Hyrule, I figured Kass was probably traveling outside of the kingdom as well.
Yona could belong to the Zora's Domain found in Labrynna from Oracle of Ages which happens to be beneath the open sea. Maybe she and Sidon visited eachother by travelling between Hyrule and Labrynna.
Back when the idea for ToTK DLC was still fresh and filled with hope in our hearts, I had an idea that we'd go beyond Hyrule, using a vehicle that someone jury rigged out of various zonai parts. the vehicle itself wouldn't move though it'd just be the transitionary trigger for leaving Hyrule and going over the great chasm that surrounds the land. And my hope was that in this new land to explore we'd eventually find Kass who, just like us, went beyond the land of hyrule for his own journey, gathering inspiration from new locations and cultures
I do wonder if Zelda will see the potential the Zonai technology has to both rebuild the kingdom and explore the lands beyond Hyrule? The next game could involve a large "Zonai flagship" ala Vah Medoh which Zelda had Purah create to explore the Zelda world.
@@TrixyTrixter Mind you Ganondorf is _no more_ in this Era so unless current Zelda is fully aware of the Demon Tribe's curse able to reincarnate Ganondorf in the future (which she doesn't seem to be) she can easily reach the conclusion that there's no more risk of Ganondorf corrupting the Zonai technology like he did the Sheikah's convincing her to keep it around indefinetly.
I bet Kass knows something about what happened to the Sheikah tech given how much of his songs have to do with shrines and because Nintendo doesn't want us to know that, they conveniently made Kass go traveling
Even though Kass is a Rito he seem to be inspired by a more tropical bird than the other Rito. Maybe he met his wife traveling as a musician but have to migrate during the colder seasons in Hyrule. His family doesn't really mention his much, because they know what times of year he'll be gone.
If that's the case that means Kass might not be native to Hyrule but a traveller who arrived at the kingdom during the 100 year gap after Zelda sealed Calamity Ganon. This could suggest that Kass is actually a _migratory bird_ who needs to move to other locations otherwise he'll die for wathever bodily functions require that he moves to a different environment based on the Seasons of the year (Spring in Breath of the Wild and Summer in Tears of the Kingdom).
@@narutosbelievin Not sure about that considering the "magical factor" which constantly affects the many environments of the kingdom. For all we know the Deku Tree has the magical ability to keep his entire forest in _perpetual Spring_ to avoid loosing his power and so always be on the lookout for potential threats to the forest.
I've always figured that there is a good chance that the Rito are a more nomadic people, some have settled down in the Rito village, but many travel around the lands outside of Hyrule (which would explain why the Rito village is probably the smallest of the settlements of Hyrule,) and Kass is probably out and about to find more songs and stories to sing about.
The Rito could also happen to be (ironically) migratory which is why they _need_ to travel to other lands to survive whenever a new Season comes along and the weather forces them to move to another location for wathever reason. Kass could have travelled to another land for that very reason since Tears of the Kingdom takes place in the Summer whereas Breath of the Wild took place in the Spring.
DLC very often doesn't mean the parent company would get any more money or at least not AS much money as a brand new game and Nintendo in recent years have been getting quite impatient and a little bit greedy.
I think they left themselves the option and set it up, but hadn't yet decided. I think the Switch2 dev cycle probably also pushed them to just move onto the next game
My theory: Kass would have died if he stayed at Rito Village! Kass, Teba, Penn, and the former Rito Elder (whose name escapes me) are the only Rito baser off of distinct birds. Teba is some sort of eagle, Penn is a pelican, the former Rito Elder is an owl, and Kass is a blue macaw. Out of these birds, Kass is the only one that exists in one type of climate in the world and that's a topical region. When the Storm Arc occurrence happened, Teba knew that Kass would have died if he stayed in the blizzard, so he tasked Kass with going to another Rito village to find help. I don't think he would have abandoned his family during a dangerous phenomenon like this unless he absolutely had to. He would have wanted to protect his family. That's actually why he was searching for music in the first game; to aid the hero. He didn't want to be away from his loved ones, but he knew the only way to help them was to help Link, the Hero of Hyrule. Music is important to him, but not more than his wife and children. Just like in Breath of the Wild, I think he is on a mission to save his family in the only way that he can, and that's by leaving the village and seeking help. At least, that's my theory. I was REALLY hoping that we would have gotten some DLC that would have confirmed his whereabouts and am genuinely sad that we are not getting any. The game left so many unanswered questions that DLC would have been well received. Oh well. ☹
Theory is nice, but even based on real animals, they're still humanoid and able to support extreme temperatures by wearing different clothes or protecting their house more. The clothes you buy there are literally made to help people support extremelly low temperatures.
@@Mari_Izu Well, it's true that they are humanoid, but they do have related traits to their respective creatures. Like, for example, the Zora are weak to electricity as fish would be. I would imagine that a tropical bird-man would have a little inclination to having issues with cold. Also, the clothes in the store were for Hylians. They make clothes for themselves, of course, but looking at the clothes they wear, they aren't designed for warning. Some of them don't even wear pants. But, I do get where you're coming from, too. They have both human and animal characteristics, but I feel like between human and tropical bird, he would still be susceptible to the cold. Looking at my avatar, you can see that I think human/animal creatures are pretty cool, so I tend to get the concept that their are neither human nor animal, but are beings that have the best of both. ❤️
There's one weird thing that I've been thinking about in the game. On the top of the pillar/mountain Rito Village is on, while the blizzard is going, there is a person sized hole in the snow which made me think someone was buried there recently, and it's been put somewhere you can't ascend through it. This of course disappears after beating the Wind Temple since the snow is gone.
The theory that Kass is traveling is pretty plausible. He most likely left months before the Gloom and Upheaval happened and wasn't aware that his family would be in danger, otherwise he would've stayed in Hyrule to either help with the restoration efforts or probably another Gloom victim held up in Rito Village (or the long since shut down stable to stay out of the cold while recovering).
There are simularities between Kass' and Tauro's character designs, especially in the colors and the feathers. It's very "Lurelin". Both are curious, adventerous, devoted to traveling around and learning. Different species, yet birds of a feather. If they'd cross paths they'd be fast friends. So Tauro being the only hylian to brings Kass up feels like a story the Zelda team had but didn't dive into, maybe Lurelin had potiential to be a ocean port that could connect hyrule with the rest of the world. Kass had already perserved the history on this continent, so going to another as an ambassador and musical scholar to both learn new histories and share Hyrule's makes a lot of sense. This hyrule doesnt have the ships yet, it's still rebuilding, but it wants to grow, so Kass flies out ahead of everyone. Maybe this is how and why Sidon's new wife decided to come to Hyrule/our Zora's domain and see it for herself.
Something you didn't mention is that Penn specifically went to Kass's old hangout to look for clues. He doesn't tell us what he's looking for, but his assistant tells you he went after mentioning a famous bard, so he could be looking for clues on Kass's whereabouts. DLC I guess.
I like to think that he went to tell distant kingdoms that Hyrule was back on the world stage. Like he and whoever else isn’t in this game are part of a diplomatic convoy somewhere out of bounds.
This isn't an in-universe theory, but I think I may understand why Nintendo just excluded him from the game. Tears of the Kingdom treats the events of Breath of the Wild like a prologue that the player was not involved in. The only elements of the game that are referred to canonically are those involved with the main quest. Any “adventuring” in between cannot be counted on, so Link basically didn’t do any of those things. The only people who know Link in TotK are those involved in the main quest of BotW. (The Sheikah member & the Sages/those who helped Link free the Divine Beasts). If a character is someone you met through your adventuring, they do not know you in TotK (Beedle, Bolson, the shopkeepers in the villages). This is apparent with Hudson. He knows you because the game decided you met during the Hyrule Restoration Project, but no one else in the town recognizes you. Because it’s not canon that Link helped building the town. Kass is a tricky character. He’s a fairly prominent figure in the gameplay of BotW., but he technically isn’t integral to the plot. Interacting and completing his quests does give you a lot of information regarding the lore and backstory, but you mostly interact with him through your adventuring - something specific to anyone’s own personal experience with the game. This is why it’s tough to bring him back. He isn’t involved with the main plot, but he’s more important than Beedle or Bolson. By the game’s logic, the type of role he played in BotW meant he wouldn’t know who you are anymore, BUT it would also be incredibly strange to just pretend that he doesn’t when basically all he did in BotW was interact with and help Link. This is why the only reference to him is by someone completely unrelated to him; a fleeting comment that Link cannot follow up on. His own wife and children don’t even talk about him. He had a unique role and Nintendo just didn't know what to do with him. I do like your lore theories though ^^
In my headcanon, Kass is spreading the word about the end of the Calamity and the rebuilding of Hyrule, and many of the newcomer NPCs were inspired by him to make the trip to Hyrule.
The fact that he was asking Hyrule's most knowledgeable historians made me think he would have had a big role in TotK... I'm hoping that if they make a third game in the series, hell be a prominent figure!
Personally, I think Kass just left Hyrule on a journey to come up with musical melodies of his own. In BotW, all of his songs came from ancient legends or his late teacher. After teaching Link about his teacher's music and all of the ancient songs related to in-game shrines, Kass left Hyrule to pursue his own musical aspirations. He had passed on his teacher's lessons and memory, now he's going on his own journey to come up with music for himself.
I cant believe nintendo just casually left out Kass, a pretty major character in botw without ANY explanation Hell even most of the side characters are still in, if not all Im sure nintendo has their own reasons for not including him but it sucks that theyve left us all in the dark basically
One day, Kass was flying through the Hyrule sky, a new song forming in his mind, tune just waiting to be sung. So he opened his beak, took a big breath and... got pancaked by a big lump of sky island.
I figured Kass went to another region for some reason especially since Sidon's partner Yona was confirmed to be from another region outside Hyrule. not only that but we have seen places other than Hyrule in the the Zelda universe the oracle game and Majora's Mask are an example of that.
I know that there isn't , currently, a plan for any DLC for Tears of the Kingdom. However maybe he was held off in this game so that if the fans pushed hard enough that Nintendo would have some things/characters to pull from to add to a DLC.
It’s not very related to Kass, but I noticed his kids are 5 of the 7 young Rito in their village, all girls, and the other two being Tulin and a girl that was his age in BotW. I’m just saying that, with him being the only male his age, son of the village elder and the wind sage that helped defeat the demon king, he’s going to be mauled by those girls.
Given the Rito have shorter lifespan than Hylians, I originally thought that he was dead. Given that Kass's kids are old enough to work, I find that is still possible. He could have succumbed to old age before the story began.
I honestly kind of wonder if Kass is originally from a Rito settlement outside of Hyrule to begin with. He's the only one we see who looks like a parrot, just as Penn is the only one we see that looks like a pelican. All the Rito we see in Hyrule look like birds of prey, albeit more colorful than raptors typically are. Kaneli is obviously an owl and Teba and his son Tulin look like they could be either gyrfalcons or snowy owls. Most of the other Rito look like some sort of hawk or falcon, aside from being more brightly colored in some cases.
It's just amazing how many characters they brought back from BOTW, but barely any mention of Kass. Even if we only saw him out collecting food due to the snow storm, that would be enough.
Finally someone asking the important questions!! I was ecstatic when I completed the Lucky Gazette quest cuz I thought I had unlocked Kass. So imagine my crushing disappointment when I showed up to Washa's Blush and only saw Penn. His theme is one of my favorite all time Zelda tunes. ..also you deserve jail time for that KFC joke 😂😭
No, Penn not apearing in BoTW doesn't mean he didn't live there, it just means we never got to see him, no matter where he lives. He already left to study old songs in BoTW, no reason to think he isn't still doing it. Not your best work.
As many people in the comments have reiterated, Kass is a macaw Rito. Hence, he wouldn’t be comfortable in the freezing Rito Village in ToTK, unlike Teba/Tulin (who seem to be gyrfalcon Rito), Kaneli (tawny owl Rito) or any of the others (who seem to be based on various raptors), so he had to leave. This would also explain why Penn (pelican Rito) doesn’t stay in the village- it would be too cold. However, my personal head canon is that he’s trapped in the Sky Islands somewhere. If we ever got a DLC, it would be great to get him back along with more islands.
I was just thinking he would be in a DLC... Well, that went poorly. Clearly, he time traveled as well, after learning the song of time. Unfortunately, his family doesn't really know where he went. They try to cover up their grief over their beloved fathers disappearance, by not talking about him at all. Duh.
I think he was kept for dlc that may have been planned/in consideration 🤷♂️ (and still may be -- the interview wasn't super clear on the no-dlc, if more sounded like no third game).
The ausence of kass and master mode is a hint to the dlc. There are holes to the golden enemies in the enemy progresion... Until the announcement of the switch 2 or a new zelda game, anything is possible.
This kinda thing is my BIGGEST pet peeve with Tears of the Kingdom. Its so painfully dissapointing that they just didn't care to explain stuff like this. Where'd Kass go? Where did the Sheikah tech go? They don't care. There is no reason. They're just gone because it didn't fit the gameplay they wanted.
My hope was that Kass was travelling around a land outside of Hyrule (seeing as how we've seen that Hyrule is just one large continent/country, and is part of a wider planet), and would return in DLC. Now my hope is he's back in the next game and tells us all about his travels. 🥲
Kass could easily be used as the start of the 3rd and final "Of the Wild" game. We find he has left to explore outside of Hyrule and has found something truly terrifying and accidentally leads this terror back to Hyrule. Link and Zelda must face this challenge head on as their daughter Zelda Sonia the 2nd has been taken as she is the key to opening up the realm of Twilight once again and thats where the Tri-force has been hidden under Midna's protection.
The Triforce is _inside_ Zelda as of Tears of the Kingdom so i doubt there's any chance it would be in the Twilight Realm. Also Midna shattered the Mirror of Twilight at the end of Twilight Princess so i doubt there's any chance we could ever return there unless the Golden Goddesses created a new mirror for the people of Hyrule to use. That said this sounds like an interesting fanfiction.
I want so bad for a Majora’s Mask style next game. We could say Kass went there. We could gain a musical instrument (like OoT and WW) and Kass gives us the equivalent to the Song of Healing.
*Insane theory:* Kass was a lost wandering spirit, a poe who was seeking for the chosen hero to hear his songs, and as the final trial was complete rewards the chosen hero who completed the Champion's Ballad trials with a photo, and then spends that remaining time with his family before his parting.
i kinda hope that Nintendo would release a DLC for TotK which has Kass tell the lore about the three dragons of Hyrule. that would be a fun story to explore.
I love the concept that there are different type of Rito species. Even the Zoras have a very diverse people(whales, stingrays, possible fresh and salt water). Unlike most Rito that look like hawks, Kass is a parrot and Penn is a pelican while the Rito elder is a type of owl. Kass' children have very colorful feathers that could be dued to their father's tropical orgin. They however have their mother's body type from beak shape to slimmer built. Kass might not be able to handle such cold climates unlike his family so he might hale from a tropical Rito tribe outside of Hyrule.
I’m just exited to see the next Zelda game now, and whether or not it will have the same link or a different one. One thing I definitely want is a bigger world, while still featuring the hyrule we know and love. Kinda like how adventure of link gives a nod to the old hyrule in the original legend of Zelda
My headcanon is that- relating to Monk maz koshia, is that after he taught robbie and purah about how to get rid of most of the sheikah technology and repurpose it- and also feed the divine beast to our boy link for his final 2 hearts before totk start- He's traveling around hyrule with kass to help learn more songs about the ancient hero, or to improve them as his previous sheikah master was related to mmk.
That's an interesting possibility although i have a feeling after Link completed the trials and got the Master Cycle Zero Koshia probably "passed into the Afterlife" alongside his fellow Sheikah Monks within all the Shrines in the game. As some have suggested it's possible that Kass might have "migrated" to another land due to the changing of the weather which is why no one in his family mentions him knowing that he needs to be away to survive the changing of the Seasons.
At the part where you said kass got attacked, i think thornyfox or another zelda youtuber went outside the map and yiga kept spawning, so it could be that
It is suspicious that Kass has disappeared at the same time that Guardians disappears. Furthermore, in the Hyrule universe, music has a strong component linked to time travel. It seems even more suspicious to me. When i remember, his master being jealous of Link, I have a suspicion that he sabotaged the Guardians which allowed the calamity to infect them in an attempt to humiliate "the knight of her eyes". I think that Kass' teacher was more than just a poet, probably an expert in occult technology, and Kass stayed in Hyrule to fix the problem. Once achieved, he goes "to another timeline?" taking all the guardians with him.
What I find interesting about Penn is that he does look like a Rito but his beak is different, is he a different kind of Rito? This also happened or was introduced with the Zora as we saw with Yona, she is green compared to all the other Zoras, I'd say it will be interesting to learn all we can about Penn, with that we might have a better idea of where's Kass. Thank you Hyrule Gamer, have a nice day!
That is something I find really interesting too! Perhaps like irl birds, they move around with climate and seasons? I'd honestly love to know more about them in general Thanks for the comment and becoming a member btw! 🙏✨️
I like to think that he is just on his way back, there will still be a dlc, and the only reason he is not back yet is because the devs have not made a new song for him to play yet. Maybe he would join the stable trotters?
Ironically having Kass be a part of the stable trotters would have been awesome within the base game itself. It's a wasted opportunity that we didn't see him be a part of the troupe during the actual game.
It would have cost Nintendo nothing to add in a single throwaway line from the wife or kids saying "Kass is off travelling, should be back soon" or even just a journal entry that said "Heard the Zoras in Yona's domain got some fire beats, off to check em out - tell the kids I love them"
i still hope we get dlc exploring a new land, the goddes statue tells you in botw "go save hyrule" and now in totk that ganondorf is back she says "go save the world" so its more than posible that ganondorf attacks other lands outside of hyrule after he sees that link beated all the temples in hyrule, like in botw, this dlc could happen before the final boss but after the dungeons, i think they could use where yona is from and there kass makes a cameo and gives us lore of the new land
That would force Nintendo to create an ENTIRE WORLDMAP just for a _DLC_ of the base game making me skeptical of this been the case. The only way in which Nintendo could surprise us with a new setting outside Hyrule would be with a brand new game completley detached from Tears of the Kingdom.
@@javiervasquez625 its not imposible, the next console is confirmated to launch in 2024 and it would really help to have something new from one of their biggest brands, also they don't need to make a map as huge as the base game, it would be enough with an island with around the size of the great plateu since there are already a lot of isles looked at the backround, also, there are a lot of indications that there is more civilization outside of hyrule, if there is no dlc, maybe like they made the open air gameplay, they could remake the whole sense of "open world" by literally opening the whole world
@@zeromontalvan1514 You don't get it. Making a DLC FOR Tears of the Kingdom would alone take a long time to develop _after_ they worked on the base game which itself was concieved as _DLC_ after Breath of the Wild was finished making the Zelda Team have to do extra time to crear ANOTHER worldmap for yet _another_ DLC which is itself nothing more than an extension of the DLC they've already been working on for 6 years straight. ¿Why bother creating an entire new worldmap for an extension of your extended DLC when you can create one from *scratch* for the next BIG GAME in the series? It's a matter of costs, development time and new hardware which forces Nintendo to move on into a new Hyrule altogether rather than expanding the established world of the Era of the Wild through a measly tiny DLC. I agree that there's plenty of evidence for civilizations outside Hyrule to exist so you won't get any contradictions on my part on that regard but i repeat: creating a DLC instead of brand new game is far more _expensive_ than through a full fledged sequel with it's own fleshed out and breathing world.
@@javiervasquez625 first of all, in a place you wrote "crear" which is create in spanish, i don't know if it was the autocorrector or just an error, anyways i'm biligual so feel free to talk in any of the both leguages, so now, they finished working on the game since over a year ago and they just delayed it to fix bugs and made the game more complete, but i think they could have done it so it launched alongside the sucesor of the switch which also got delayed to 2024, but now we're getting a new console without a big release outside of any of the mario remakes announced in the last months, also, working on a new settlement and expanding a little bit the game to make it live longer wouldn't be that hard thanks to existing assets, i know it would still take a lot of development specially with new stuff but they basically have most of the work done with the stuff they leave unsulved like penn being on a quest to find kass but he doesn't do anything after, he just, stays there in kass's shack forever without any clue of him, it really feels like it was another quest there but it got removed by some reason, at the end, even if they don't make a whole new island for the dlc, i think it should be enough with hyrule itself, making 8 more shrines to reach both 3 stamina wheels and 40 hearts and i think that wouldn't be that hard since in the game are some places that feel like there was a shrine but it got remove, for example are some lightroots without a shrine but no shrines without a lightroot and also, 152 shrines sounds crazy, with 8 more they could reach 160, it feels like when someone leaves the tv volume in a odd number that isn't 5
I know how long it's been. At the end of the last game we saw Hudson getting married and now in this game his kid is 5. That means, assuming they started right away, this is a little under 6 years later
So I'm just chilling, with this video on in the background chatting on the discord server when I hear "be sure to sub today, to make the gandaddy stay" out of nowhere with no context. Absolutely genius and hilarious. I'm still laughing now
It will be interesting if data mining turns up any files for Kass. I sort of assumed he was either cut content, or future DLC. DLC that’s supposedly not happening. Though I would not be surprised if DLC is on the horizon, but a year+ away.
I think he fpund a shiny light blue ocarina, but upon playing this instrument he got sucked up into a time pocket, he is now wondering the timelines, bringing joy wherever he goes.
If BOTW & TOTK happen after a convergence of the timeline then all the lands that are "known" are also in the world. Including Sacred, Silent, Twilight, Minish, Realm of Heavens, Forest, Snow, Ocean, Fire, Sand, Dark and any other I've missed.
You made me a little hungry when you said Kass might have been Kentucky Fried. I mean, think of the size and taste of those broad wings, the prominent breast, the Drum sticks…😋😋😋.
I think he is either dead or he left his family for music. Here is some ideas to support the dead theory: no one talks about him because (for his family) it's to painful to bring up (it's possible no one else remembers him). I don't have much to support him leaving though, just that he is very passionate about music.
We do know TOTK is set in a different season from BOTW, perhaps Kass’s species (or would it be race in this case?) in particular had to migrate in the meantime?
I mean the obvious story beat is that he’s been zapped into the past ala Zelda (maybe accidentally by her at some point in the Tear Power Refining), and he’s his own inspiration, the master who made the ancient songs he was studying. Paradox, like the themes of TotK. We do that story set in the past when it comes out via DLC/side-game/Hyrule Warriors, then he’ll “return” having barely left, therefore family reactions all work out, and it’s happily ever after, the end.
Now I think even more that Kass is going to reappear as a "Wind Fish" type figure, he's the only character in the game thats obsessed with music. Including special music taught to him by an unknown master.. (ancient Hylian? Hyrulian? Sheikah?) - now he has gone to finish his journey. I have a feeling he went skyward :). Beautiful video.
6:22 you can see Kass perched on the fence behind Penn. He solved his teachers unfinished song and devolved back into a parrot, his life work complete. I theorize all of the generic birds throughout the game are Rito that have reached complete enlightenment. But that's just a theory, a game.... Naw, but the bird behind Penn does resemble Kass a bit.
@@itzriotplayz2377 Canceling the dlc is a big mistake! There are so many fillings that needed to be put in. A lot of questions in the TOTK story that needed to be answered.
@@a.jthomas6132 yeah i was really hoping for a dlc or master mode so they can add more stuff that was missing and that would make the game more better.
@@itzriotplayz2377 Totally. And I was hoping for a Twinrova boss battle since Ganondorf’s surrogate mothers made brief appearances and their names are written in the Gloom weapons. Thus, exploring Ganondorf’s backstory and learned more about the Zonai since TOTK story is divided into two from. The perspectives of these two characters: Link and Zelda. And I honestly want to see more of Ancient Hyrule with Zelda as a playable character.
What are the chances they are just saying there will be no dlc so they can work on it in secret? 😅 i was really surprised seeing how BOTW got dlc and this game could do a entire thing and let people play has zelda in the past
I assume that his disappearance doesn’t involve the blizzard that takes place in the game because if his family was worried about him being missing in the blizzard, they would mention that and if wherever he was, he had heard about the blizzard he would have gone home to help so he hast to be far enough away for the news to have not reached him about the blizzard and gone long enough that his family isn’t worried that he’s stuck in it
I have a theory about Vilia, the other botw's character absent in totk: He/she was captured by Gerudo many times and in the end been executed, or killed by guards when was tryng to escape
I think it would’ve been nice to get something like a paraglider cloth that resembles Kass’s design after doing something like helping Penn or doing something for Kass’s family as part of a side quest or side adventure. I think it would also be nice if there was a message for Link telling him that he’s off to find new discoveries in music (take that as however you will) and thanks Link for everything he’s done regarding the interpretations of the ancient songs of Hyrule. I think that’d make for a bittersweet moment in the game. I really liked Kass in Breath of the Wild, and while I think it’s a shame he’s not anywhere in Tears of the Kingdom, I’m glad that he was still mentioned nonetheless.
If he was travelling beyond Hyrule, then during the snowstorm, then his family would worry about him getting caught in the storm cloud. Also, one of his kids or his wife would say something like "I wish my dad/husband was here." Since we don't have that, I'm going to say that Kass is dead.
If he died why is there no memorial or hint of his passing? He was literally the only Rito accordion musician in the kingdom as of Breath of the Wild giving him enough renown and fame for the Rito to be willing to give him a proper memorial to forever immortalize his unique talent as an accordion player. That no such memorial is ever seen anywhere in TotK's Hyrule (including his accordion) makes this a very unlikely scenario with very little evidence to back it up. Some have mentioned that Kass might be a _migratory bird_ who MUST travel to other environments as per the changing of the seasons (Spring in Breath of the Wild and Summer in Tears of the Kingdom). Since Kass's family is probably aware of his need to move to other lands this would explain why they have no reason to mention him given his constant need to leave the kingdom in order to survive the changing weather.
Given how much time has passed between BotW and TotK (5-8 years, 10 at absolute max), it’s possible he just straight up died sometime in-between but it happened long enough ago that they’ve moved on and it just doesn’t come up at all. Although, if this were the case, he’d have an obvious grave somewhere.
I think and for the same reason there is no mention of him that much in totk, we kinda can get a clue during the game, the harsh winter, very few supply's comming in, and giving that some birds can be preditory, i think his own family killed him, cooked, and ate him due to starvation.
An in game reason no one tells link where kass is, is that link probably knows that his friend is traveling. we the player don't know, but link would be in contact with different characters between the games.
What do you think happened to Kass?
Link cooked him
I ate him
I think he might have went to a different continent.
he'll be back for the dlc probably
Kass is in space
This was my thought exactly!! *high five*
i also wonder what region penn came from?
That's a very interesting theory and it would also explain why even more of the Ritos are not in the village as well.
That was my thought exactly
So, the complete opposite of what happened last game😂
If hè didnt say goodbye he didnt leave, HeS just not here right now🥲
I literally thought this while watching the videos
That is the correct theory 😊
I was so sad that Kass wasn't in this game 😭. I wanted more Kass stories!
What also doesn’t make sense is that his wife and five daughters were still around and not once did they mention their father. Why, Nintendo? WHY?!
Y U P
The fact that they don't mention him kind of implies 1 of 2 things:
A) He died somehow in between the 6 years seperating BotW and TotK which would be weird since you would expect _something_ in Rito Village to allude to Kass's death like a memorial, grave or even his accordion lying around somewhere.
He's alive out there.
maybe they"re keeping it a secret.
@methodius--9405 In that case Zelda would've been removed in an instant.
I actually really miss hearing his accordion when playing TOTK. It was comforting hearing it in each stable and around Hyrule itself in BOTW that I didn't realize it at the time that it was one thing that made BOTW memorable to me. I do like the new band music in TOTK, but nothing will beat hearing Kass playing his accordion.
actually, it appears to be a concertina, not an accordion.
I think it’s also the fact that he tends to show up in the middle of nowhere, seemingly hostile environments. But hearing his theme brings a sense of safety.
@meloncreampuffs I get the exact same feeling of calm and safety too.
I recently resumed the champions ballad and it was definitely nice trying to find the points on map and then hearing his music in the distance. ❤️
Watch Kass be in the game somewhere super obscure that absolutely no one has discovered yet and he has written an absolute banger of a song.
Oh my god! He'll be hidden within a Cave, within another Cave or something crazy! 😭😅
@@HyruleGamer right? Inception caves lmao
@@HyruleGamer nah he’s just hidden on top of Mount Agaat
I think he would've been found due to all the datamines, the Divine Beasts were found in the code. As great as this would be, Kass is sadly not around
That's a cool idea ngl!
"Ambassador Kass" sounds cool i really wish we had a DLC or something where we saw him in full ambassador clothing travelling to another land like Labrynna.
As long as it doesn’t result in Zelda marrying royalty from other kingdoms I’m fine with the idea
@@javiervasquez625 *AmKassador
The dlc thing could be a non-disclosure agreement.
Omgg 😂
Lolol any of that a little bit of a self reflection maybe? You good bro?
I’m going out for some muddle buddle kids I’ll be back. Never returns
I take SOME comfort thinking Kass is just out there, sharing songs... Was REALLY hoping he'd come back in a DLC, but alas...
I think we’ll go beyond hyrule in a third game
I do wonder if Zelda will see the potential the Zonai technology has to both rebuild the kingdom and explore the lands beyond Hyrule? The next game could involve a large "Zonai flagship" ala Vah Medoh which Zelda had Purah create to explore the Zelda world.
My bet is that if they make another game set in this time frame, all zonai stuff will be gone with no explanation like they did with the sheika stuff
I’m feel like there would be a more wind waker esque style game with underwater exploration
@@javiervasquez625should still be spring in TotK due to the Great Deku Tree’s leaves
Kass is gone because he is going to be the main character in an upcoming Zelda rhythm game.
👀
It's weird that so many things seem like they are set up for DLC like Kass, and Nintendo is like nahh.
It really is
DLC very often doesn't mean the parent company would get any more money or at least not AS much money as a brand new game and Nintendo in recent years have been getting quite impatient and a little bit greedy.
‘Kass will be DLC!’
Nintendo: About that.
Guess we'll never know, unless the next game Kass could make a appearance.
In my headcanon, Kass is spreading the word about the end of the Calamity and the rebuilding of Hyrule, and many of the newcomer NPCs were inspired by him to make the trip to Hyrule.
This is what I was hoping for in a potential TOTK DLC, I'm sad to see we aren't getting any.
My favorite theory is that he's still in Hyrule. Link is just always missing him
I cant believe nintendo just casually left out Kass, a pretty major character in botw without ANY explanation
Hell even most of the side characters are still in, if not all
Im sure nintendo has their own reasons for not including him but it sucks that theyve left us all in the dark basically
Don't forget Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks and A Link between Worlds as well.
@@javiervasquez625Well there you go, even more examples to my point
Well, Kass _IS_ a wandering musician.
"Maybe he has a secret SECOND family!"
Don’t worry, guys. Kass is on his ERAS tour.
They should have easily left him in TOTK, living at the village and having a side quest for us.
Until the announcement of the switch 2 or a new zelda game, anything is possible.
or maybe it can be a hint to another sequel.
Okay so as hard as this goes into fanfiction wish fulfillment territory. I’d be willing to play this hypothetical game.
Dude I’m also on board that the Twili and twilight realm will return and that they could have some tech being red and portals to the twilight realm
Well Yona also talks about how she was from a different domain, so he couldve gone there to learn their music
Kass travelling really is the only correct answer, that's what he was doing in BOTW, only makes sense he'd branch out.
That was 1 thing i really missed from totk which was Kass.
me too. and also the master cycle.
He just went to get some milk 👀
He's a big beefy guy, wherever he is I'm sure he's fine
Hopefully lmao
i hope he"s alright too.
I’m just exited to see the next Zelda game now, and whether or not it will have the same link or a different one. One thing I definitely want is a bigger world, while still featuring the hyrule we know and love. Kinda like how adventure of link gives a nod to the old hyrule in the original legend of Zelda
My headcanon is that- relating to Monk maz koshia, is that after he taught robbie and purah about how to get rid of most of the sheikah technology and repurpose it- and also feed the divine beast to our boy link for his final 2 hearts before totk start-
He's traveling around hyrule with kass to help learn more songs about the ancient hero, or to improve them as his previous sheikah master was related to mmk.
I'd honestly love to know more about them in general
Thanks for the comment and becoming a member btw! 🙏✨️
@@HyruleGamer Yeah! I would love to know more for sure and you are very welcome! Thank you for making these videos!
Kass was sacrificed to give us the ability to make fried chicken in this game. Hylia-bless.
and do you think the zelda creator eiji aonuma might know where kass is since he didn"t put him in the game?
Be like Kass. Take a break every now and then. Away from everyone who keep nagging for you to be in the game heheh
Shoutout to the discord server!
🙏
Idea Kass is traveling for music, but he's still in hyrule, we just happen to not run into him.
The world that Hyrule lays in has many mysteries, including music. It's music.
Thumbs up!
Hahahaha
I wounder if Kass and Penn are form the same 'land'? Bc they are both tropical birds.
That is an interesting point
We really need Kass back for DLC if possible!
kass would have been in the dlc but they had no plans and cancelled it.
@@a.jthomas6132 i also would have liked a twinrova boss battle too. and to play as princess zelda also.
He better be on tour! He has five mouths to feed. I wonder what the band/stage name would be? Other than that, I miss Kass in Tears Of The Kingdom! 😢
After impregnating Zelda and Ganon he flew away to Termina
What are the chances they are just saying there will be no dlc so they can work on it in secret? 😅 i was really surprised seeing how BOTW got dlc and this game could do a entire thing and let people play has zelda in the past
I assume that his disappearance doesn’t involve the blizzard that takes place in the game because if his family was worried about him being missing in the blizzard, they would mention that and if wherever he was, he had heard about the blizzard he would have gone home to help so he hast to be far enough away for the news to have not reached him about the blizzard and gone long enough that his family isn’t worried that he’s stuck in it
He is probably somewhere traveling outside of hyrule, the Hyrule link travels is a kingdom and many tribe group, what is he doing is unkown exactly.
I have a theory about Vilia, the other botw's character absent in totk: He/she was captured by Gerudo many times and in the end been executed, or killed by guards when was tryng to escape
I was desperately hoping he might be a member of the Stable Trotters. The possibility of him traveling outside Hyrule sounds sensible, though.
6:06 That’s weird, I heard: “Leave your arms! Leave your arms! For if you don’t, I shall do you harm!”…..
