    I made a mistake saying we don't know why Northern Lights/Aurora's occurr irl. The Mystery should more be why do they only occur in Hebra! 🥶

      This is a very interesting question. This would qualify as a "Discrete Aurora." This is not something we find on Earth, but they have been seen on Mars. Discrete Auroras are seen in areas of localized crustal magnetic fields. Something within Hebra is generating a magnetic field. It could be natural or artificial. The divine beasts could be used to do this. You would need to super heat a ferromagnetic material (the rock of the mountain) while applying a direct electric current, followed by rapid cooling. This would be possible if Vah Naboris fired lightening at Hebra at the same time Vah Medoh fired its laser. The molten rock at the peak would align with the direct current from the lightening. It would need to be rapidly cooled for the magnetism to be made permanent. Cryonis attacks from Vah Ruta would do exactly that. This suggests that the scar on Hebra was no accident. Perhaps they transformed Hebra peak into a magnet 10,000 years ago in the heat of battle. It is conceivable that such an event was a climax of that battle, and perhaps that is what really freaked the royal family out when it came to the power of the Ancient Sheikah tech. Very interesting indeed. Thank you for making this video!

    The Stormwind Ark has a story! It's in a book i think in the cabin across the gap of the lake around rito village. its north of the stable/lucky clover newspaper hq. The "upheaval" the rito tale talks about is when the winds stopped, making the air thin and dangerous to fly in. a zonai fell from the sky, and the rito called them a god for their powers. they tried to take them back, but no rito could fly high enough. thats when they built the smaller boats at increasing altitudes, and the zonai used their ascend ability to climb up home. as a gift for helping build the ships for them, the zonai gifted the stormwind ark to the rito to make the winds come back! idk if there are similar stories for the other dungeons, though.

    Little Footnote for the Leviathan bones segment, The Eldin Skeleton is Levias. It bears the closest resemblance to our old friend from the Era of the Skies, and even has his big flat head (And the Concept art looks even MORE like how Levias did in Skyward Sword). "Leviathan" seems to just be the in-universe name for the giant whales seen throughout the series; Levias, Jabu Jabu and Jabun, the Wind Fish, and Oshus.
    The Hebra Skeleton doesn't share any features with any of the giant whales we've met in the series. The Gerudo Skeleton has what seems to be wing-bones on top, implying that it's the Wind Fish, and Eldin is all but officially confirmed to be Levias's remains, but the Hebra fossil doesn't look like any of the franchise's great whales. It's way too big to be Jabu Jabu, lacks Jabun's Angler Lure, and while once could make the argument for it being Oshus, I don't think it fits.
    Oshus (AKA the Ocean King) exists in another world, and is a completely different species of whale from the others. Oshus is a Sperm Whale, fitting for his nemesis being an evil Squid, and Sperm Whale Skulls look completely different from the Hebra Skeleton. The Hebra Skeleton has what seems to be a horn on its head, meanwhile Sperm Whale skulls look concave (look up an image, it's wild to look at), and Oshus himself lacks horns of any kind.

    • @horse14t
      @horse14t หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think another thing that people miss about the Hebra skeleton is that, like the Wind Fish (and its unfortunate baby) the Hebra skeleton is that of a baleen whale! It has no teeth! (Granted the Wind Fish skeleton does have a few teeth at the front of the mouth, but the ancestors of real baleen whales had teeth (some of which may have had both teeth and baleen) and the Wind Fish is a tiny winged, flying magic whale so I give it a pass.)

    I think it's very likely the lake was intended as a dig site, because while the main writing of the wild games didn't have a ton of thought put into it the map designers were a separate team known for their environmental storytelling, even if the story team didn't intend for it the map designers almost surely did

    • @BriarBeeBenson
      @BriarBeeBenson 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have to wonder if for TotK they had a different team alter the map because I was really disappointed to see a distinct lack of environmental storytelling literally anywhere that tells us what each of the Zonai ruins are, who may have lived there, what purpose did it serve etc. We basically get next to no lore about the Zonai and it’s such a shame because I really love them but I just know Nintendo will likely discard them and never bring them up again in any future title and that sucks there’s still so much of their story that’s yet to be told and we don’t even get a hint as to what happened to all of them? 😞

    • @TommySkywalker11
      @TommySkywalker11 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @BriarBeeBenson monolith was still behind designing the new map area atleast but it's likely they didn't put in as much environmental storytelling with new areas and changes because they didn't have any lore premise to come up with ideas for in the way they did for BotW ("ruins of medieval civilization" vs "race with this specific aesthetic") and were told more what to do to keep to the zonai aesthetic

    As for my theory on the docks, as someone who use to keep finding odd docks located on out of the way waterways while exploring the woods and forest near where I grew up, I just thought these are fishing docks. There are even, as you yourself pointed out, a race of folks not too far off who wouldn't have much problems getting to and from these, explaining the lack of pathways to them. Just fly on over, fish up some food, amd fly back home for dinner. fishing tends to be better in deeper water, but unless you have an insane rod, top casting techique, and the strength/endurance to real a big fish all the way to shore, you probably want to be closer to the deeper waters without having to swim/boat out each time you want to fish.

    • @shadenox8164

    We actually do know a bit of when the temples were created since we have the sage awakening cutscenes where they show Zelda visiting each sage in there respective temple.
    Knowing that there’s no way the stormwind arc or any of the other temples were created during the ancient Sheikah age nor during the rise of the calamity from 10,000 years ago and instead took place sometime during the age of the Zonai.
    Capburgeon makes a point during his dungeon analysis that the temples seem to have each races ancient architecture mixed with Zonai tech. And are also guarded by Zonai constructs. Which makes me believe these were made in collaboration with the ancient Zonai civilization.

    I like to think that the hole made in the mountain side is what made the king of Hyrule at the time fear the Sheika technology and commanded it to be buried. If one blast from one of those divine beasts was enough to carve through a mountain, just imagine how devastating it would be if it struck a place like castle town.

    another theory i've heard for the secluded lake (although I dont think it's too likely considering general location etc, though given map wierdness in Zelda you never know) is that it is possibly meant to represent the lake atop OoT's Zora's Domain, where you find Jabu Jabu as child Link and the Ice Cavern as adult.

  • @StormsparkPegasus
    @StormsparkPegasus หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Actually the cause of auroras is very well known. It's caused by charged particles from the solar wind getting caught in Earth's magnetic field. Because of how magnetic fields work, the particles get drawn to the poles, where they collide with oxygen and nitrogen in the upper atmosphere, which causes the electrons in those atoms to jump to a higher energy state. When they return to the ground state, they release the light that we see. Electric charge, magnetism, and light are all the same thing, just seen from different perspectives. That's why it's called electromagnetism.
    Since Hyrule has a sun, and compasses work, that implies it also has a magentic field, so it's probably the same process.

    The Rito Records in the Hebra Trailhead Lodge, tell a legend about, when the winds in Hebra stopped, a stranger fell through the clouds from the sky. The Rito had never saw the likes of him before, but when he recovered quickly, they referred to him as a god. The villager’s tried to bring the god back to his people, but no matter how hard they tried, it was still too high up to reach. Seeing the motivation and determination, the god expressed his gratitude and asked if the villagers were to gather materials. The Rito took up the offer and gathered as many supplies as they could. The god nodded in appreciation and used his mysterious powers and created small boats, whence the villagers boarded, they began ascending into the air. With the god guiding them, they began ascending higher and higher, until they passed through the thick clouds. What took the villagers breath away, when they saw the vastness of the heavens and islands that float in the sky. With their saviour returned to his people, they began descending back to earth. Suddenly the winds of Hebra had returned, the villagers looked up and saw a magnificent vessel high above. It seemed the god gave them a gift from his own gratitude for helping him to return home. With the winds back, Hebra recovered, the sky’s cleared and the flowers blossomed. The ark that saved the village from catastrophe came to be known as the Stormwind Ark.

      @@pettyblood_That may be why the ark doesn't have much environmental story to tell. It was Zonai-made in Rito-inspired style. The environmental story is pretty much told to us and the ship confirms that.
      There's also a bit he missed. The ark has to predate the Calamities since it was where the Wind Sage left the Zonai secret stone. Meaning it has been around since the Imprisoning War.

      the Earth’s magnetosphere emanates from the poles, so that’s why we only see auroras in the far north and south, so technically if there’s auroras in Hebra, then they should be visible all around the north of Hyrule… or maybe that implies that the planet that Hyrule exists on has an extremely tilted axis? or maybe that the maps are just tilted for some reason? seems like there’s some crazy _Zelda_ theory fodder in there somewhere 😂

    Another information correction to add is that the Calamity of 10,000 years ago is not "the first" like you said in the video at 10:35. That's just one of them. The Divine Beasts are even said to have been made to battle the calamity, should it ever return. Here's the dialogue for proof:
    "The history of the royal family of Hyrule
    is also the history of Calamity Ganon, a primal evil that has endured over the ages.
    This evil has been turned back time and time again by a warrior wielding the soul of a hero, and a
    princess who carries the blood of the Goddess.
    With the passage of time, each conflict
    with Ganon faded into legend. So listen closely as I tell you of this
    "legend" that occurred 10,000 years ago.
    Hyrule was then blossoming as
    a highly advanced civilization. Even the most powerful monsters posed
    little threat to the denizens of the realm.
    The people thought it wise to utilize
    their technological prowess to ensure the safety of the land,
    should Calamity Ganon ever return.
    They constructed four mechanical wonders
    that came to be known as the Divine Beasts. They also built a legion of autonomous
    weapons called Guardians."
    As you can see, the calamity of 10,000 years ago is just the last one to occur before the Great Calamity of 100 years ago and it's just one of the "legends" that have faded into legend with the passage of time. The Divine Beasts and guardians were created to ensure the safety of the land should Calamity Ganon ever return.

    The winds of the Hebra regions stopped blowing and an entity, like a prince, fell from the sky, the Rito built the ark to help him reach the skies again and supposedly him made the winds blow again after that
    The game tells you
    The Fire Temple was, supposedly, the home of the Gorons so, yeah, rock people used to live underground
    The Lightning Temple beats me, it's just standing there... Menacingly!

    Three leviathans for each region associated with each of the thee goddesses and currently overseen by three guardian spirits. While these spirits are immortal, they are not invulnerable, and we have seen that they are not always dragons. This is why one is found behind ornate doors as this would have been a place to meet with a representative of a goddesses.

    What if the devs sort of perverted the Wind Waker's story for the Wind Temple in TOTK? Maybe the "different kind of upheaval" Teba mentions is the flooding (kind of a stretch, but I can see the word upheaval being used for an event like that). The village WAS technically saved by another ship... Link arriving on his ship. And The King of Red Lions does bear at least a tiny bit of resemblance to the Wind Temple, mostly with the decorative head on the front of the ship (although the Wind Temple has two that look more like Vah Medoh). Honestly, I think they just wanted a call back to the Wind Waker by including a ship as the main dungeon for the Rito, but with a twist of course.

    Appereantly my comment got deleted. Anyways. The wind temple was built by the zonai after the rito helped one of them to go back to the sky. Their wings were to weak to carry it so they built the floating ship, the trampoline ones to help the rito ascend back to the heavens. As a thanks the Zonai built the Rito the Wind Temple.

    They’re caused by the particles emitted by the sun interacting with the Earths magnetic field. Even if you didn’t know that a 2 second google search will tell you.

    There is that one mystery ruined settlement on the far east of Eldin Volcano, and is a location that you visit as part of the side-quest of finding all the Wells in Hyrule, except inside that Well is a lava pit cave. I can't seem to imagine why someone would build a settlement there so dangerous, and have a well that drops you into a lava pit cave.
