I have been struggling for a couple of years with my mental health. Hearing you, someone I look up to, speak out about it, makes me feel less alone. I do also recognize that feeling of proudness when I push through and do something that initially caused me a lot of anxiety. Even today, I had to go to class and I was really overthinking it. I eventually forced myself to go and ended up absolutely loving it. I try and take it day by day, but sometimes the anxiety just gets to me. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experiences and speaking out about it!
I spent the day having exactly those same feelings. A paralysing anxiety that completely overtakes my capability of doing anything and the shame that comes from it, a "wasted a day in bed", not being capable of doing anything. Knowing that someone that produces such good content, who inspires me and is in a different field than mine, goes through the exact same experiences, kind of emphasises the idea that feelings are not facts. It really made me feel less alone and uncomprehended going through these thoughts and feelings. Thanks massively for sharing!
The tailoring bit of the video was very helpful. I need to get most trousers tailored so it was great to see the things you take into consideration when getting something tailored, thanks!
Hello Brittany, thank you for being honest about your mental health journey. I love your fashion content and reading list updates but especially appreciated you sharing the highs and lows of navigating socialising. Big Love C x
Thanks for being so open about your mental health this week! I had a moment like that too and it's lovely to be reminded that everyone see's things online that throw them into a whirlpool of anxiety. I don't think people quite understand the mental health implications of being an online creator too. I just wanted to say that you are by far one of my favourite creators, you are thoughtful, creative, caring and authentically you. I just adore your vlogs but will absolutely support you on other platforms (if you plan to move over to Patreon). Hope you have a lovely week ahead Brittany! xx
An idea for the what to wear video. What is your go to outfit when you need an uplift because it's a 'cant be bothered' day and you need a pick me up outfit to give you joy.
You can wear a suit to the wedding . A nice pair of trousers , a crisp fitted shirt , a nice little silk scarf tucked at the collar and a suit jacket or not .
Big love to you Brittany. Thank you for being so honest, authentic, warm and for the creative inspiration you provide. I adore you and your videos and am a long-term subscriber, thank you for making your channel such a beautiful part of the internet. Cannot wait for next week's video, you've helped me survive the Australian lockdown. xx
I resonate so much with your thoughts on how difficult it can be to pull yourself out of a “dark place” and I think it’s really important to recognize the effort you’re putting into feeling better and praise yourself for every small victory. As always, thank you for uploading this vlog ❤️
Hi! Your vlogs are amazing. Very comforting, soft and cozy. I cannot even imagine people criticizing you. Why? Keep what you do, you do it great. I am 46 and time with you is precious for me.
thank you so much for sharing your mental struggles with us! i discovered your channel this year and it has been a lil turning point for me, i find u so inspiring and hearing u talk about things that i relate to to my core makes me feel less alone.
I do the same exact thing with books, I can never seem to buy just one, even though I have so many that I need to read in the moment. Its truly a never ending cycle haha
Thank you for sharing about your mental health. I've been living with anxiety since childhood and later I found out that I have ocd. That is very challenging sometimes to get through the day with all this fear of uncertainty. Thankfully I learned about CBT and feel less weird right now) Take care and remember You are not alone:)
Can you please do a huge book review video! I love your book recs and I would love to see what books youve loved throughout the year adn recommend !! Love you so much
So so glad you're on TH-cam. Your content is just so wonderful to watch. The bit with the before and after of the tailoring was so helpful! I only recently got my first pair of jeans taken up WITH the original hem maintained and I've honestly never been so happy with a pair of pants. Makes all the difference! Can't wait for the next video, keep up the great work xx
Totally get what you were talking about regarding when you overcome a mental health struggle and having s bad day but not letting that win and take over ❤️ go you! I struggle with social anxiety and although I have come very far and feel much better nowadays its a continous battle and some days and situations are hard but the feeling when I manage to not let it win and turn it around is the best and I feel very strong and everyone that manages to do that should feel the same 😊
For the wedding in November I would go for a suit in a good color with a silk blouse, dressier coat, heeled boot, some statement jewelry if you’re into that and a nice small bag. Or a long-sleeved, well tailored midi dress in a wool material with same accessories. COS does them well I believe. If it’s more casual you could get a away with a satin skirt + cashmere jumper i guess. Minimalist, chic and warm enough.
I know what you mean about finding someone you resonate with. It’s so difficult, especially on TH-cam. I’m 51 and TH-camrs that resonate or ‘speak’ to my soul are few and far between.
Yes, all trousers should have this feature! I also hate it after dinner of when you're bloated that trousers fit so tight! How can we spread the word so clothing brands will apply this from now on?
Thanks for the Piranesi book rec! I went to a wedding in January 2020 and wore a maxi wrap dress from ganni + boots, it felt and looked great -- I'm sure whatever you'll wear is going to look fab x
Since I am shooting weddings, I definitely could recommend a good suit as a perfect wedding outfit. With a pair of minimal pumps and a silk top. Just give it a try 🤘🏼
I don't usually write to the ones I follow, but I want to tell you that I suffer from agoraphobia from time to time and thanks to your video today you have inspired me to overcome my fear a bit and go out to run my errands. Thank you so much. Besos!
It's so lovely to see you looking happy and well, Brittany! I know that must be strange coming from someone you don't know, but I hope you know that likely most of us feel we know you and we appreciate your candor. I think many of us struggle with mental health, especially over these last few years, so we can certainly relate. Thank you for being so forthcoming. Proud for you that you overcame those obstacles and loving the new outfits! Just sending some love from Canada
YES to Aja Barber and Consumed, such an important read and a critical issue. Would love to hear your thoughts on it after you've read it and your general thoughts on consumption and fashion, etc.
I got those COS trousers (in black) as soon as I saw them on you on Instagram. This is not normal behavior for me (lol) but you are truly unique and inspiring to me. I absolutely love your vlogs and photos. All the best! P.S. Thank you for sharing your mental health struggles and victories. It means a lot.
Always looking forward to your vlogs! ❤️ Could you tell me please which size you have in the black COS trousers, for size reference? Love them!! Thanks! Greetings from Germany.
Great that you acknowledged the achievement of going to London (we should acknowledge ourselves more regularly, I think). I would often go to London twice a week, and travel all over the country doing events and signings, but since lockdowns and the myriad opportunities to over-think everything, I can't even imagine getting on a train now (plus, I have a new book out in April, so I need to steel myself - it gives me great hope that you managed it, thank you so much for your honesty and eloquence!)
I was at a wedding last saturday and I wore my black Issey Miyake Pleats Please pants with a very light rose colored blouse borrowed from my mum and old Opening Ceremony black lace up shoes with a bit of a heel (I am unable to describe those, but they are kinda cool). At the church I also wore a grey cardigan, my grey wool Max Mara coat and royal blue Acne scarf because it was freeeeeeeezing there. At the location it was warm enough to only wear the blouse. Another very fashionable young woman wore a royal blue suit and simple black velvet heels and a black blouse with a lose bow in front, I loooved her outfit (and I told her and she was delighted and also relieved to see another woman in pants hehe)
I always look forward to your vlogs every autumn/ winter, Brittany! Despite the weather getting warmer here in Australia, I am always on the hunt for good knitwear and coats and would love to know your thoughts on any petite-friendly winter items worth purchasing this year :-)
Yes!! Why don't all trousers have a adjustable waists. I have been looking for years for something like this because I have endometriosis and we get bloating terrible and it's so hard to find pants in general when tummy hurts all the time. I will have to look for these.
I have always been jealous at my kids pants with the elastic solution and ordered the black wide wool trousers just when the just showed up at the cos site, was too excited about the elastic for the same reasons as you (often struggles with the waist issue and how changes in waist depending to time in the month etc.), hope the continue with this elastic solutions. The similar in light beige/greige havnt I found one the site yet? Happy to hear about 10more outfits, I really loved your workwear and evening outfits, please do something for fall. I struggle with bringing similar outfits to the fall/winter with tops and shoe collection and keeping the "balance" of the outfit with not only chunky shoes. Thanks for a great vlog as usual!
I'd love to see what you would wear to the airport comfy & chic! :) i also suffer from anxiety due to feeling unsafe and hearing crazy things on the news about London and i often change my mind about going out... I'm trying really hard to work on this / not read london news - my new focus is on positive energy and blocking out negative ones. best of luck! ps loved the exhibition clips and cannot wait for campervan footage
How cool that you were invited to a Loewe event, totally get it about imposter syndrome but clearly they are lucky to have you! Good for you for persevering. Would love to know your thoughts about Frieze. About baking...baking is my happy place, has been for years. Best baking book I found lately is part of Rukmini Iyer's Roasting Tin series because I always thought of baking as a 'must follow recipe' endeavour (as opposed to cooking where experimentation pays off much more often) but in this book she discusses at length how to substitute and get a 'feel' for it. Totally know what you mean about buying a whole load of books at once...my problem is I tend to buy history and other nonfiction, which I love, but then I end up wanting to read fiction and don't have enough options. Latest book I read and liked is The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen and I just ordered Freedom, also by him. Just started reading The Wolf and the Watchman by Niklas Natt och Dag (translated from the Swedish), it's been sitting on my shelf for a couple of years now and really liking it so far. Btw the camper van looks so stylish and comfy! Also loving your sleeveless knits and how you style them so effortlessly.
Brittany, you are adorable and the inspiration to slow, conscious life❤️ could you please tell what camera you use for vlogs? Thank you. Alice from Moscow ☺️
Piranesi - Don’t read any spoilers let the story completely surprise you. There is a YT video from Waterstones from a event back from a year ago with the write Susanna Clarke and Madeline Miller. It’s a good one to watch before you read Piranesi it will get you in the mood for it! I watched the event live and I was so excited afterwards. Susanna has such a calming voice.
Hi Brittany, which tailor do you do to. I moved to Norwich last year and am looking for someone to alter a Margaret howell dress for me. I would love to know who you use!
Always buy books in threes 😂 no idea why! Some of my favourite books were bought as the “emergency third” when scouring a bookshop for my trio. Nothing quite like spending a few hours browsing shelves
Spent 50 minutes in Ludlow in Shropshire at the weekend...in a bookshop...£70 later...oh no. Read Bob Mortimers book..fabulous..The Salt Path and The Quiet Silence can recommend. Also bought Dave Grohl book..also fab..
Thank you thank you for this amazing vlogas always!! 🙌🏻😍I have been looking forward to this all day! I had my toncils removed through operation today, and lets just say it is painfull…. I cannot speak, barely swallow water or eat so I am having a baller of a day with so many words😵💫😅👽 Do I pitty myself a little?… I’m afraid so…😂 So thank you so much again! And have a lovely day/evening🧡🍂☀️🙌🏻 I love your style, and eye for things! + your editing is soo beautifull😍🍂
Loved the intro 🤍🤍 Do you ever get a pair of trousers tailored entirely, as in have them make it to a style you like in a fabric of your choice? I think a good tailor is my best friend 😂😌
Hi Brittany, thanks for these great vlogs, I genuinely appreciate your honesty and how down-to-earth you come across. But please can you explain how on earth you can afford a jumper that costs £1300?
I have been struggling for a couple of years with my mental health. Hearing you, someone I look up to, speak out about it, makes me feel less alone. Oh bum, I was hoping you’d solve my wedding outfit woes 🤣🤣🤣. I can’t buy a floral dress, I just can’t! 😆

Love your video! One scenario I’ve just thought of for the outfit video is “Outfits for the first international travel after COVID”

A cold autumn walk in the forrest.
