    But or Rent - Chicken Run - • Chicken Run
    The creators of Wallace & Gromit bring you an exciting and original story about a group of chickens determined to fly the coop-even if they can’t fly! It’s hardly poultry in motion when Rocky (Mel Gibson) attempts to teach Ginger and her feathered friends to fly…but, with teamwork, determination and a little bit o’ cluck, the fearless flock plots one last attempt in a spectacular bid for freedom.

    Ginger is SUCH an underrated heroine; a textbook case of how to do one right. You get the impression that she sort of fell into this leadership position, her friends are dying around her and every time she cannot lead them through a successful plan, it costs more lives and you can see how that affects her. But she just has to keep going because they can’t give up!! Then when Rocky comes onto the scene, she’s clearly taken by him but the moment he shows apathy towards her friends and their situation, she kicks him to the curb. And in the end, she potentially sacrifices her life to make sure her friends have their freedom. They also write a perfect line between feminine and tomboyish with her. She can kick butt but she still has her flowery bandanna. Love this girl!!

      I 100% agree with you on that, wholeheartedly! She is one of my favorite main characters in an animated movie in my opinion and Julia Sawalha knocked it out of the park for her performance as the character. It also bums me out that she’s going to be replaced by Thandiwe Newton from “Mission: Impossible II” and “Run Fatboy Run” as Ginger for the sequel. As for Mel Gibson, however, as much as I do enjoy his voice as Rocky in the original, I do understand that he’s antisemitic. So I can totally see the actor who played Eugene Fitzherbert from “Tangled” and Shazam, Zachery Levy playing Rocky for the sequel as well. It all matters on how they portray their characters on screen. Let’s just wait and see.

    A little note: every single chicken has an accessory around the neck (a necklace, a scarf or beads). This was added to hide the ugly place where the figurine's neck meets its body (after all, the chickens had to turn their heads, so it could not be hidden otherwise)

    Rewatching this movie as an adult made me realize that Edwina's death is not only sad but also depressing. The reason why Edwina didn't told anyone that she laid no eggs was because it was her way to get herself killed on purpose. She couldn't stand living inside that horrible farm anymore that she wanted to end her life so she couldn't suffer any longer. And you know what makes it even much worse??... if she waited a bit longer during the time when rocky arrived, then she would've tried to escape once again with everyone and she could've had a free life 😢

    • @PixarShark
      @PixarShark ปีที่แล้ว +20

      I’ve also seen the theory that she did it on purpose to save Ginger and thus the entire flock. Think about it - with all the times Ginger was getting caught and thrown into confinement, her egg production couldn’t have been good either. Edwina knew this, and knew that the flock couldn’t survive without her leadership, so perhaps the only thing she could do was make her production even WORSE so that she was the one picked out.

    1. Yes, it's claymation.
    2. Yes, it was done by the same guy who did the Walter and Grommet films. He's also done some Shaun the Sheep films you might enjoy.
    3. It's a parody of WWII prison camp escape movies. Hence the sets that resemble a prison camp.

  • @firekrys

    My grandfather served in WWII, so he liked the WWII movies. The Great Escape is one of my favorites, and a great deal of it inspired many of the sequences in this movie. Being shut in a cell every time they got caught, that Steve McQueen fence jump, and the tunnel was a total steal. So when I saw it, I was practically on the floor laughing.
    This stop motion style is incredible, and like some people have recommended, I would check out Wallace and Gromit. The Wrong Trousers is another one of my favorites.

    Fowler's memories are from World War II, when he was with the Royal Air Force - yes, he's very old. His line about Rocky being 'overpaid, oversexed, and over HERE' was a common complaint from British armed forces personnel about the American GIs who seemed to be pouring into England during the war.

    Beside Gibson there are a couple of brittish actors and actresses that ended up in the Harry Potter movies: Timothy Spall (Nick) plays Peter "Wormtail" Pettigrew (and also Nathaniel in Disney's Enchanted, another movie you should see but it's a animated/live action hybrid, similar to Mary Poppins and Who Framed Roger Rabbit), Miranda Richardson (Mrs. Tweedy) did Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, and Imelda Staunton (Bunty) was Dolores Umbridge in The Order of Phoenix and The Deathly Hallows Part 1.

  • @mevb
    @mevb ปีที่แล้ว +19

    The reason the Tweedys don't call the other by their first name is that Mrs. Tweedy did marry him for the sake of business and not actual love, that and she's annoyed by his antics and (excuse the pun) chicken brain, being the actual brain of the Tweedy Farm.

    • @PixarShark
      @PixarShark ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The difference in salute is thanks to the navy. In the Victorian era, all members of the armed forces saluted with the palm facing forward. But the navy often had greasy hands because they were much more involved with the maintenance of the equipment, so the navy salute was changed to face the palm down so the dirt wasn't on show.
    Incidentally, I prefer a cold hardboiled egg, especially in a good salad.

I think the 4 shorts you can all do in one video, the shorts in order being A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave, and A Matter Of Loaf And Death. And then there’s the movie called The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit.

    Good rule of thumb for flight of a chicken, smaller chicken breeds fly much easier, the chickens in this movie are likely broiler hens, which are bred to grow very fat and cannot fly well at all, they can barely reach perches. Ginger could be a lighter breed though so she should be able to fly better than the others, while the roosters should also be able to fly pretty well.

The only thing he asked of them was that the film be made entirely in the UK at the same studio that Wallace and Gromit was made and they said yes to that as well!!!

    Oh man, I have always loved this film, despite not seeing it in years. I love the characters, and I like how it’s basically The Great Escape (side note, I saw that film for the first time this past week), but with chickens. Honesty, unlike with films like this year’s Paws Of Fury: The Legend Of Hank, Chicken Run serves an example of a “remake,” so to speak, done right. Ginger was a great heroine, and Rocky was great. Truthfully, if Rocky didn’t get together with Ginger, I’d have probably voted to see him ending I’m with Babs, since she’s really cute, adorable, sweet, and playful. I also liked how well-developed the villains were. I will say that I kind of felt sorry for Mr. Tweedy, since he really seemed to be going along with whatever Mrs. Tweedy planned, you know? So, I was wondering, was it just me, or did Mr. Tweedy actually push that wall down on Mrs. Tweedy? Guess you can’t blame him, if he did. Anyway, I wonder what he, and the dogs will end up doing now that Mrs. Tweedy is dead, and the chickens gone, you know? Honestly, especially in the earlier DreamWorks film, I liked how the villains didn’t get killed off most of the time (I.e. Chicken Run, Prince Of Egypt, and The Road To El Dorado). Anyway, as for the sequel, I’m sort of nervous for it, since it won’t be in theaters, and it will be Netflix exclusive. I’ll likely give it a chance, but we’ll see. Anyway, thanks for reviewing this film once again!

    I would say the dad of the chicks is the old rooster, during the movie we see at least 3 different ship hints with 3 different hens as he becomes cool to their eyes 😂

    I have not seen this in years however I remember when they had a toy I think at macdonalds where you could build the escape plane from the movie here the only downside was you weren't given the entire toy to put it together same for inspector gadget

    If you're on a British animation kick and doing the Wallace&Gromit films, you should do When The Wind Blows and the old Animal Farm.
    The original Dark Crystal would also be cool to see on a reaction channel

    If u don't remember them, u should definitely watch/react to all the Wallace and Gromit movies.
    To refresh your memory, they are; A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave, Wallace and Gromit's Cracking Contraptions, A Matter of Loaf and Death, and The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (I recommend them in that order)
    (The Curse of the Were-Rabbit would be great for closer to Halloween)
