- After many months of working on a well trained team for the Battle Frontier in Pokemon Emerald, the team is finally complete. In this video I share with you the third Pokemon for the team and we recap the other 2 Pokemon from previous videos. Next time, we take on the Battle DOME.

Was waiting this video, amazing job man
thanks! hope you like
hey, great content, recently found your channel and I am really enjoying it! Quick question, what’s your favorite way to play analogue pocket or your gba sp? and follow up question that gba sp you use is a limited edition charizard one? Keep it up 👍
That SP is actually my sisters old one from like 2004 haha. I modded it and put in a new screen and buttons. That was my first mod and it was a disaster so in the near future I want to try modding another one from lessons learned with my first one.
Thanks a lot for answering! It would be great to share your new modded console when it’s ready!
@@AlnaiR19 Might be a few months but i def will!
I’m genuinely looking forward for the next video, love the vibes man
thank you! New video probably in a week. Appreciate the support!
This is the exact same team I had as a kid for battle tower (I had Ruby instead of Emerald)
My Dusclops had confuse ray, will-o-wisp, curse and shadow ball.
Salamance had Flamethrower, Fly, Dragonbreath and Hyper Beam(Not 100% sure)
Aggron had Brick Break, Earthquake, Surf and I can't remember the last move.
Really funny coincidence that you ended up with the same team 20 years later.
its because these pokemon are AWESOME haha! Beast team as a kid
Love the videos man! I just bought myself a copy of fire red and I debating on whether I should shiny hunt charmander. You think it’s worth it?
fun! Yeaa def worth. That shadow charizard is so cool. It might take a while but it worth!
I shiny hunted a Charmander in FireRed twelve years ago, was lucky enough to get a Modest nature on it. It's traveled with me and is now chilling in Pokemon Home. Totally worth it. Just prepare yourself mentally, it will take a loooong time.
@@dirtydan4492 nice! Perfect nature for charizard. Agreed, it takes time but worth it
I like how genuine your content is. You made a very cool team 😎 👍
thank you! Some of the coolest pokemon in the gameee.
Hey, I'm currently working on a battle frontier team as well. I breeded/trained a Kingdra for SpA and HP, Metagross for Attack and HP and a Latios for SpA and Speed. That team works nicely got, earnd me one gold symbol and most of my silver ones. But now I try to build a team around Tyranitar so I'm currently breeding one with dragondance. Also breeded a pretty strong Swampert.
I also started with salamece as my physical and Alakazam as a special sweeper. They were strong, but they turned out to be way to fragile.
I also use a blissey for the battle pyramid and the battle pike since it provides healing.
I just got a copy of emerald and want to start my own frontier journey. Need to finish my current Leafgreen run before I start for training purposes. I’m thinking of Swampert (brave or relaxed not sure), Salamance (modest probably, maybe Hasty) and Metagross (Adamant choice band)
Love the vibe of these videos!! Excited to see the next one
more coming soon! Glad you like the atmosphere
Congrats on your Salamence!!
I have a soft spot for Flygon as well. It’s type/ability combo (ground+levitate🔥) make it a MUCH more valuable pick in later gens tho where steel, ground, fire, electric types threaten EVERYTHING.
Never discount playing with your favorite Pokémon. That’s what we’re here for!
Your Aggron and Dusclops offer a lot of walling and counterplay to Ice threats. I think your team is well rounded and well though out! Dynamic. Don’t be afraid to play into rng a bit too with your held items as well. Quick Claw on my Recover Milotic has saved me through paralysis an uncanny amount of times.
Thanks! Flygon just so coool too. I would like to train one for fun eventually. Been grinding the last few days in the battle frontier and so far ice/water moves are killing me. It appears most pokemon have both those moves so like surf and ice beam just beat me so hard XD. The dusclops though is coming in handy!
I need to het a quick claw asap
You need cover for curse snorlax. That got me once
Dusclops, I prefer seismic toss over night-shade, since normals are more common than ghosts. And pain split over rest, but it still works.
I am working on swapping salamence out for steelix. It will have roar and explosion to take care of pokemon like snorlax. I agree with seismic toss. That is something I will most likely be changing soon
congratulations on the Salamence! Having 3 IVs at 31 is quite good for doing everything legally. After watching the entire video, I would like to ask you some questions and also give you some advice.
First of all, why that Salamence moveset without any Dragon-type attacks? Salamence can learn various moves, and the Dragon type provides STAB, which means it deals 50% more damage being of its own type. Also, you could easily defeat other Dragon types.
Secondly, why didn't you choose the Adamant nature? It lowers Special Attack, and since your moveset doesn't use any special attacks - well, I think the Flying-type move might be special, but anyway... I don't understand why that moveset, and Double-Edge, provides no coverage at all and which also hurts you, doesn't seem very good. Is it a special strategy for the Battle Frontier? I feel like your Salamence isn't well-built. Please don't take offense; it's constructive criticism!. Best nature for salamence is JOLLY.. so u can outspeed many pokemons and kill them. Jolly or Timid if your going with SPA. if you straight away with physical attacks you should use dragon dance and dragon claw/outrage
its a must in physical salamence in my opinion
I haven't played Emerald in years, but what I do remember is that the Battle Frontier is difficult because there are Pokémon that can KO you in one hit, and as always, the PC seems to have a lot of RNG in its favor, always hitting accurately...
Did you choose the team because you like those Pokémon or did you think of a strategy for the Battle Frontier?
I also think that Salamence can be a mixed sweeper with Flamethrower/Fire Blast, very useful against all Steel types. Even though it has higher physical attack, it learns a better moveset of special attacks, so it can be played as a mixed sweeper. This happens a lot with strong Pokémon that learn a large number of moves; the more moves, the more coverage, and therefore, the Pokémon is better in battles, especially Salamence, which just goes in to kill.
I also wanted to ask if you use Smogon or any guide to guide you? And finally, congratulations on your effort and dedication to all this. Now, please upload a video playing the Battle Frontier; I would love to see your Pokémon in action. Besides, it's very entertaining. I know it must be a big effort to edit, but at least a video showing how you play the battle!
A warm hug :)
Joel
1. In this generation, dragon moves are all Special Attacking so those moves wouldnt be as powerful as using a physical one. However the STAB bonus is something to consider. I always forget this.
2.a. I wanted Adamant nature and was breeding for it. The bagons in the breeding center had that nature with an everstone. By chance, this naughty natured Bagon hatched and it had overall insane IVs that I decided to train this one. I wrote about it more in-depthly here! nostalgicnighthawk.com/third-pokemon-for-battle-frontier-team/
2.b. Double Edge is dumb but I didnt know what other move to include that was physical. Maybe I will replace with Dragon Claw even though it is special. This is currently a filler spot. Also no offense taken, these are respectable questions. I did wanted dragon dance however in this Gen it can only be learned via egg moves. I didnt know that until after I trained it up loool.
3. Battle Frontier seems to have a lot of good RNG. Like they crit often and they seem to never hurt themselves with confusion haha.
4. I chose the team because I like the Pokemon and thought it would be a somewhat diverse enough. This is not the most optimal team and there are some great ones discussed on pokemon forms. But I wanted to use some of my favorites and not copy someone else's experience. Maybe in the future I will but I wanted to run it fresh with my thoughts.
5. A special attacking Salamence might be better because of the moves that can be learned. I agree with what you said. Might be a good option to try in the near future. I will need to retrain one. Having moves like Crunch, Dragon Claw, Fire Blast would been GREAT.
6. I use mostly Smogon guides for the IV and EV training and getting a general idea of what to build. I havent looked up much for the battle frontier though. I havent looked up any guides for that. I also use Serbii as a main resource too for looking random things up.
Lastly thankssss it is nice to share these experiences. i will post a video soon with the battle frontier! Hope I got to all your questions!
@@nostalgicnighthawk best of luck ♥ keep it up the good work
p.s: what do you do for work? just curious haha
@@joelgrebinsilvestri Thanks! In the engineering field. I like the maths.
Pretty cool video and channel. I just bought a new copy of Emerald with the purpose of actually beating the Frontier, as a kid I think I had 3 silver symbols and a gold one. I'm gonna buy a second GBA so that I can trade with FR and actually use T-Tar in this challenge.
Sounds like a plan! Good luck on your adventures
My thing is how can I get pokerus in emerald, you need pokerus to perfect their IVs if I'm not mistaken.
nahh you dont need pokerus to get perfect ivs. Pokerus doubles the EVs gained so it helps speed that process up!
Nice team bro. A choice band Flygon earthquake + (STAB) hits really hard. What items are you going to give the Salamanca and argon
Trueee i forgot about STAB. For items i am not sure yet... i really need something tho. Maybe a quick claw on someone. Any recommendations for items?
I think choice band and leftovers are really good. If a ditto has 31 ivs in attack & speed; are the 31 ivs more likely to go to the baby pkmn’s attack & speed stat or does have an equally likely chance to go any stats?

@@Julians1996 i think quick answer is both have the same chance however dont quote me on that.
Hey dude, I would enjoy watching content of you just playing the game and battling in the battle frontier, playing other pokemon games, etc. I enjoy the vids
happy to hear you like the vids! Have fun playing the games! They are a lot of fun
Good luck with this team. Just a warning though, I also used Salamence initially but found it to be way to fragile in the later rounds. So many Pokémon have ice beam or blizzard that can catch you off guard and cause you to fail the run
i just recorded a video discussing what you just mentioned! Salamence is sooo fragile its wild. Thanks for letting me know
Super chill video and vibes, makes me wanna pick up my ds and run the pokemon games back
that the vibe i try to achieve!
Just discovered your channel. Love the videos. On a similar grind with the Gen 4 games at the moment and this inspired me to start making some content on it!
Fun! I love the gen 4 games as well. I will check out your vids too
Do you have a video or guide on how to ev train?
nope but i WILL MAKE. Seems like a video i should have. These smogon articles cover everything but I can make a video still.

@nostalgicnighthawk thanks dude, this is helpful for now. Looking forward to future videos. Out of all 3 you have I think dusclops will be your clutch god.
@@universaljojo968 so far dusclops is low key a beast. Salamence sometimes gets wiped and Aggron cannot survive a water move. Dusclops wins everytime
how do u trade between emerald and fire red on your analogue?
i actually dont, I have 2 game boy sps I use to trade. I think you can trade between analog pockets however not analog pocket to GBA SP. I tried to trade between the 2 devices and it did not work!
You sound so bored
Have you posted any of your runs yet
i uploaded some of the matches!
Congrats man, I’m trying to challenge the battle frontier too since I never beaten it before and it’s been one of my biggest dreams to get all Gold symbols, your videos are inspiring/helping me a lot so keep it up and I can’t wait to see you challenge the frontier brains 🔥
Good luck on your adventure! Its been a goal of mine as well and its exciting to hear its also yours and others goal. Let me know how your battle are goin!
@@nostalgicnighthawk I will dw ^^ so far only got the silver symbol for the battle tower, gonna continue once I prepare a team for the whole battle frontier 🔥
@@CyberRayquazaX Nice!!
I just got silver in the battle dome last night. I said i was gona do the battle tower but im dumb and went to the wrong place.
@@nostalgicnighthawk its fine which ever place you start with ^^
Now that the several dozen hours of grinding and prep are done...time to play the game! Best of luck in there!
LOL XD so true!
Your videos are so chill. I don’t even play cyber dragon but I just think your the cool cyber Dragon player
hope you like the chilll vibes. Cyber dragons are AWESOME. I wish i played more yugioh but I like the idea of playing the game more than actually playing it!
Man this is honestly so calming to me. The nostalgia. I’m also inspired now to park my gen 4 & 5 preference for replying games and get into gen 3.
Nostalgia is strongggg! Gen 4 and 5 are also great. Gens 3 and 4 are my favorite for the games
Love your videos dude, really chill - and nice to see someone else enjoying vanilla Pokemon. And you're handsome too :)
i try to keep a chilll atmosphere! Also thank you for the compliment
Congrats!!! I discovered you not to long ago, but i really enjoy your content man. It was pretty satisfying to watch your progress and then have this video drop. I just got my hands on leaf green and fire red and I'm about to start the grind. I originally only wanted the starters shiny, but watching you play and do more of the activities like battle tower or connectivity between GameCube for my hyped to try all the features i never did as a kid.
Happy to hear you enjoy! Aw mannnn so excited for you to start an adventure! Yeaa these games have a lot to offer. I did not appreciate it fully as a kid but glad i can now
Salamence is sick! Team is looking good, good luck on the Frontier challenge :D
thank you!
The grind has been real man! Can't wait to see how this team gets on!
Started doing the Battle Dome and i am doing OK. Ice beam and surf kicking my butt haha
Best of luck with the built team! How do you like playing on the Analogue Pocket as opposed to the SP??
Thanks! The pocket is AWESOME like the screen, battery life, etc. However the SP is so nostalgic. It depends on the mood I am in. Right now the pocket is my main
Just saw this comment, but still have to ask what edition of sp is that? lol
Great Job
So handsome❤😂
im not that good lookin LOL thanks tho haha
@@nostalgicnighthawkfor me ur handsome and that's enough
I'm gonna comment again about the video and pokemon related, I have some things to tell and ask
Looking forward to the next episode, great content keep it up!
thanks! Grinding the battle frontier RNN
hell yeah
Hi dude! Congratulations the team is built! These videos are so so awesome, it’s so great watching gaming in its purest form, without using meta-Pokemon or trying to speedrun and taking your time. Great job, my friend.
I’ve just got a question - how do you deal with burnout? Have you ever experienced it?
Glad you like the videos! Yea i like to experience these games in a certain way. Its comforting. And burnout with TH-cam or with these games?
Assuming burnout in the games: i typically dont grind these every day. Typically ill play a few hours each week or for like 20 minutes before bed. i usually wont get burnt out like this. However sometimes there will be a month or 2 where I wont want to play at all. I dont force myself to play because I want to only play for enjoyment. If that makes sense. So i dont feel burn out because i dont pressure myself to play when I dont want to and i dont play for hours every day. I try to keep it sustainable haha
@@nostalgicnighthawk Yes mate, I meant burnout game wise. When you’re putting so many hours into grinding IVs, EVs and levels, do you not feel burnt out? :)
@@dragonfang8670 nahhh i usually am vibing online with friends chatting or watching tv or listening to music. So it doesnt feel like im pressuring myself to play. Not over playing too is good at preventing burnout.
@@nostalgicnighthawk Sorry, forgot to reply... that's great to know. I'm currently working on a Living Dex in Pokémon Red! Yes, the original Red! I'm doing it on the 3DS Virtual Console. Can't wait for the next video!
