I just purchased the bag you recommended when I asked a day or two ago on another one of your videos. I purchased it for my XL Best Chess Set Ever quad set and ordered it in Olive color. Thanks again, I appreciate your videos and appreciated your response to the bag question I had.

I am glad you got something, olive color sounds like something I would choose too. Hope you enjoy it!

I got the green board and should have gotten the blue . Being my travel set I'm happy w the purchase. Some weights got loose inside but still good.

The blue board is quite nice I have to agree! Green however is more standard and is slightly easier for the eyes. I like brown too, very professional feel with brown. Thank you for watching!

I like the pieces and I believe I have the same ones but mousepad boards are much better than vinyl nowadays. Mousepad fold really easily without creasing. So now when I go to a tournament I fold mousepad board into quadrants and use my regular bookbag. This is really helpful because those bags can get heavy and its more comfortable to use the straps on a bookbag. Plus now I can use 1 bag since my laptop and chess equipment all go on the same bookbag now.

that's great! I agree with you about mousepad board's ability to be folded into quadrants and I see a lot of people out there getting them for that reason, vinyl boards wouldn't last long being folded like that.

I might just mess around and get the wood folding tournament size chess set. Time to upgrade from vinyl 🥵

I prefer the off-white matte look for white. Though I guess most people prefer a shiny set.

Are you playing a lot of chess lately? I have similar tournament set for a couple years now and just got the house of staunton wooden tournament board

Probably not as much as I'd want to at this point! I do some online play and chess puzzles.

is the board really made of canvas according to the eBay description or is it silicon?

    • @AlSuChess

Great question! the board looks like a normal canvas board, not silicone, at least this set that I have!

Many thanks for the video. It's so instructive. I actually own these chess pieces myself and I love them, but the only thing I dislike is the size of the queens. In my opinion, they're too similar in size to the bishops. If they had made them 1 centimeter taller, they would be perfect, I think.

Really!? I have heard a lot of people mention this little detail! Interesting, I would have to agree with you on that! Thank you for watching!

I heard it's the heaviest chess set ever. Ridiculously huge pieces.
    Knight copied from french lardy
    Bishop Standard Staunton
    Rook French lardy
Queen Standard Staunton except for fat base.
French lardy is the best chess set ever better than English Staunton design design where queen crown sting you like a 🐝.
I played with this set with mousepad board with green contrast. It is ridiculously stable as it is best for speed chess.

I agree with you, the queen spikes are in need of a little filing down in my opinion. Thank you for watching.

I'm holding out for quintuple weighted pieces. ;0) "quad" just means that they weighted the piece 4x more than just the plastic alone. If the pieces were wooden the ratio of added weight to wood would be less dramatic so it's unusual to see anything but triple weight for wood.

    • @AlSuChess
      @AlSuChess  3 ปีที่แล้ว

how interesting! You still feel a difference in weighted vs unweighted wooden pieces out there, I feel like they don't really emphasize how much extra weight is being added to a wooden set, compared to a plastic set. Thanks for watching!

My Druek. So fantastic. King is 2.9oz or 83g. Probably lead, which they can't do anymore.

Drueke is definitely highly sought after pieces, I was at some point looking to get some for my collection but they are a bit on the pricey side.
