    All the hubs do is lock the front hubs to the diff so they spin when your in 4 wheel drive. You still need to shift the transfer case into 4 hi or 4 lo.

  • @Jeeg_Quebec_CAN
    @Jeeg_Quebec_CAN 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    They're so reliable once you get it figured out with the parts! multiple brands make em, like Honda and Mitsubishi. Super easy to fix engine, wide range of accessories available too! Great choice on this one!!

    • @Jeeg_Quebec_CAN
      @Jeeg_Quebec_CAN 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And for stick driving, 2wd will always be easier to drive, the 4wd lock is used to get out of bogs. 4wd unlocked will get you far but before entering extra rough stuff, lock it in! So much possible with this lil mule, can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

  • @dustinmittel348
    @dustinmittel348 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    So yes locking the hubs allows for the 4wheel drive to work you still have to place the transfer case into 4wheel high or low. low is all your torque I'd only run it if you have a super steep hill and in 1st gear

    There’s a TH-cam channel where a man in Japan built an in bed camper on one of those same trucks. Great video Lojo. Appreciate your content.

  • @bigjohn962
    @bigjohn962 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It is actually amazing what those little Mini Trucks are capable of. My suggestion is there are a lot of videos on TH-cam about the Suzuki Mini Trucks, I would watch a lot of them to find out what others have done and what is best for the application and capabilities you want. I know that it is natural to want to put wide tires on off-road vehicles and slightly wider may be a good thing for yours, but if you have ever seen the mud bog videos they have tall narrow tires on them. So watch the videos before you decide what you want to do is my best suggestion.

  • @WRXPATRICK1
    @WRXPATRICK1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Those trucks are awesome! You'll have fun with it, I've always wanted one of these myself. I would suggest putting a cage around the radiator, so nothing in the bed punctures it.

    First thing I would do is hook the fan into the ignition switch so that way it comes on as soon as you start it. Another thing you could do is run the fan on a temperature control switch, ether one would just ensure that it is on and the truck won’t overheat when the weather gets hotter. Great video and a great buy.

  • @SpacemanXC
    @SpacemanXC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +40

    The fan is probably just because the radiator gets no natural air flow back there. I would also put some kinda guard around it so whatever you put in that bed doesn't slide into the radiator and damage it when you hit the breaks.
    Also, don't go too deep into water with this thing, because the engine might suck up water and hydro lock. I know you south eastern dudes like muddin around, but you gotta build your vehicle to handle that first.

    I mean this is literally a dream toy for a guy lol. I’d throw me a dump bed on it, maybe find one of those truck bed tents that would fit it along with a air mattress. Get some of those super swamper UTV tires, DO NOT GO WIDE, put a small lift, wheel spacers to widen your stance for more stability, and throw you some new shocks on it. After that, get a hunting blind that fits the bed dimensions and you have a portable hunting blind. I think I need one of those trucks lol. I love it, love this video! I watch a ton of videos and comment on very few but this one is cool. Do yourself a favor, build a chicken wire cage around your radiator, that is a 3rd degree burn waiting to happen!

    Great video as always LOJO. That truck is bananas. I love it. You could make it a complete survival truck. A tent that extends off the back, More lights, bigger tires, small lift, a brush guard, rifle holders, and maybe compartments for machetes and pistols would be awesome.

    These trucks are really cool and Suzuki makes a lot of power outters for the engine if you go taller with your tires you will lose power so i would definitely get some bolt on parts to get more power i had one on my farm for several years and one thing I did was instead of going taller on the tire i just went a little wider to get more traction and went with a little lower rear-end gear for torque wasn't very fast but went through anything and hauled what ever i wanted just throwing some ideas out to you love the content man have fun with the mini truck

    The professional detailer came out in me when I first saw it. I couldn't believe they didn't at least wash the mud off of it and from under it before they sold it. But that's a hell of a nice little buggy dude, those things are awesome. Oh, and keep that carburetur. If something ever goes wrong with the one in it you might wish you still had it lying around for parts.

  • @RyanRyker
    @RyanRyker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Lojo hey bud, you definitely need the thicker tire for traction. Id spray the truck bed spray liner in there its cheap and it works, plus if u scratch it you spray over the scratch and u will never know. Also id do a googan paint job on it with some googan vinyl. You could casr off the back deck of that. Its going to work perfect for u and what ur looking for.

  • @garrettstevens2232
    @garrettstevens2232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I suggest taking an off-road course. Winches can be super dangerous if they snap. Also you can damage the 4x4 system if you don't know what you are doing.
    Never leave it in 4x4 on dry pavement, the tires need to be able to slip otherwise things will bind up and break. The lever in the cab determines where power is sent. The hubs physically connect/disconnect the wheels from the power.
    Most trail rides you will want to be in 4 low, as it changes the gearing so you won't have to ride the clutch. 4 high is good for higher speed driving like dirt roads.
    Fix the brakes, learn how the vehicle works, learn how to pick your lines off-road and you will be golden.

    Top tip for driving a manual stick shift is to palm the shifts on a right hand drive. Palm out towards the passenger door for 1st and 2nd gear then palms towards you the driver for 3rd, 4th and if you have it 5th/6th. I’m from the U.K. 🇬🇧 so pretty much everyone drives stick and automatic licenses are not so common often for people who physically can’t drive stick or just don’t have the coordination.

    My first vehicle was the bus version. 900cc engine, fit like 7 people in there with trunk space. Mine was not 4x4, but we still took it fishing everywhere. The body is also really strong as the Toyota truck that smashed into my back was written off, but my mini bus could be repaired. Even took it to the wild coast in summer (South Africa). This video brought back many good memories. Thanks

    When he said get so 5k likes to mod the truck my first thought was put a turbo on it and a snorkel. Also a small bed rack would be great for hauling stuff like kayaks and hunting blinds and still having storage space in the bed for other trip necessities. It's a sick little truck. If you do put a lift on it be sure to widen the stance cause it'll be very top heavy if you don't and more likely to roll over. Sick buy man. Love these property videos.

    Awesome new truck Lojo!! With the right tires and lift those things will go anywhere. I got a good idea for a horn. Instead of a train horn I think it would be awesome if you could get a loud duck call or something similar to that for a horn. That would make it the coolest truck ever just for that! 😆 you the man Lojo love the channel & all the new projects! I can’t wait to see more of the boat. Can’t wait to see what you do with it! 🤙🏻

  • @eriklarson2183
    @eriklarson2183 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    U cray, cray brother... Love it. You can do so much with that thing. 1st suggestion would be getting some fatty low boy swamp tires and rims which will def take a mod kit but traction will be 100% better. That and a turbo if its not an aluminum block, nothing crazy but enough to add some horsepower if you have the bed loaded down and running through some swampy mess. AC.... a must fix since it has it and its hot as chit down there!
    Outside of that maybe mounting a quick release turret in the bed for a hand cranked .22 mini gun you can use on hogs... Buy the kit and I will build it for ya (you will need to get the barrels lapped or I can find someone). Maybe mount some high altitude and low burst flare tubes and we are talking about some major property perimeter defense.... Light up the sky, spot them and then blind them... Rain down some .22 fire... Shoot dang!!

    I have a couple of them and I love them, but i prefer the diesel. You can mod them out to 1000cc for dirt cheap and then they hit freeway speeds. They make vans and extended cabs too. If you do mod, may I suggest tracks. I haven't been able to afford them yet myself, but my bed is now a blind with a winch setup for skinning.

  • @Something-Somes
    @Something-Somes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would get a rack to put on the top for bins and stuff. I know you can't do hunting stuff on here but for hunting content you could build a blind for the bed and hunt right from the back. I would add some more lights and get some bull bars on the front for reinforcement. Looks like some better shocks might be needed too with the way Andrew yelped lol. Other than that a toolbox for the bed maybe?

    This thing is sick, one of the first things you need to do is replace those seats with some wrap around type that hug you, so Andrew doesn't fly into your lap again, maybe rhino liner the entire thing including underneath, add some skid pates under it. You already said lift, some wider tires, and new brakes, maybe install a couple of heavy duty "Oh Shit" handles around it so you have something proper to hold onto when you're bouncing around and a couple of "cola" drink holders up front. And install a couple of rumble seats in the bed for the boys to go along.

    Any time you want to be in 4wd, you must engage the stick inside. Now you can leave the hubs engaged and be able to go from 2x4 too 4x4 without getting out each time to lock the hubs in. It will use more gas when the front hubs are locked in. But as much as you are going to use it. It will be just fine to leave the hubs locked in !! Super Cool tho !!

    Narrow tires work better in mud not deep mud. A small contact patch is better in slimy top surface mud with a decent under ground, wide tires are better for floatation in thick deep mud. Make your decision based upon your terrain! Happy trails!

    Howdy LOJO hope your enjoying the new toy! I’ve seen a comment or 2 regarding some things you wasn’t sure about but I’m gonna tell you anyway!
    Yes you do have to shift into 4hi or 4low after the hubs is locked in and also another thing some people might would argue with me but it’s always best once you’ve locked them in and have gotten unstuck to get back out and unlock the hubs don’t keep them locked in 24/7 only when you need the 4 wheel drive leaving them locked in will cause problems later on with stuff being tore up I’m telling you from personal experience but I’ve met many people that have argued with me saying it won’t hurt anything! Keep up the good content man!

    Bigger tires with a lift sounds awesome. I would recommend getting those brakes upgraded and put protection around that radiator so nothing slams into it. The reason why he has a fan for the radiator is that there is no direct air flow going to it like you would if the radiator was on the front of the truck. Sweet little truck though.

      Big tires would ruin those axels

      @@RGProductions I'd say it depends on how big you go.

    Wouldn’t be to concerned about going bigger tyres. Adjust your tyre pressures. Drop them to about 22 psi when your on the farm or off-road.
    It’s a small motor bigger tyres can cause the motor to bog down. Then you will have to adjust your gear ratios to compensate.
    We have those vehicles in Australia.

    Also last tip shift to first when going up big hills . Lower gear means more torque

    My dad has the van version in Australia, I always remember it would tip over if a big truck came the other way and if there’s no wait in the back hold on going down a big hill. Lol

    Yep bigger tires, synthetic line on the winch so you do not kill yourself, guard around radiator.

    Cool little ride. First fix the brakes. Second put a cage around the radiator and strap down the battery. Now for the fun stuff bigger tires, if you do a lift actually lift the suspension not a body lift. You'll get more ground clearance. Put bucket seats in and maybe have it rust proofed and wrapped or painted. Would be awesome.
