This is most of our childhoods and it's hella iconic
First the explanation of bella's depression. So in the book they mentioned that the vampires have this thing where sometimes they find their mate for life. Basically like they find their magical soul mate and are bound to them. It makes sense because vampires are frozen in time, usually in pain for eternity. So the only thing that would fill them is an eternity of love. The majority of the time they fall for another vampire who feels the same way . And they literally can't be apart from each other. It's love beyond comprehension. And it's rare that a human could be capable of this kind of love. This is actually what every member of the Cullen family went through, Alice with Jasper, Rosalie with Emmet and Carlisle with his wife. It's similar to how animals find their mate and when one of the partners gets ripped away from the other, they both feel agonizing pain. Thats why Edward and bella literally couldn't be apart from one another. If he hadn't come back they would've permanently been in unimaginable pain and never would've moved on because they are fated to be together.
I read the books as a teen and didn't think this deeply about it. Beautifully explained, thank you 😄

I was 50 yo when this was in theaters ... and I went to see them all. I bought the DVD, and loaned it to a friend ... and then went and rented the series because she kept it for too long. My guilty pleasure. So glad you're watching it.
Look I am a dude and my wifey begged for me to read the books which I did & loved. Was raised by women so it was easy to jump in. The flicks are not as good as the books but they never are. That being said, I was still entertained with flicks. So if it's a fun ride just go with the flow

He’s really getting into it 😂 and the storyline is easy, but still engaging.
Next there's Bellas character. Bella is extremely similar to Edward. She's extremely shy, she's clumsy, and she hates the attention being on her. But it's unfortunate because everyone is always trying to talk to her, be friends with her, or date her. But everyone misses judging her. So she never fits in, not even in her own family. I think she only hangs out with her friend group at school because they don't miss judging her as much as other people. However she's extremely mature and perceptive. So she figures out ways to divert the conversation or situation to somewhere else. Like when Mike asks Bella out in the first movie she knew that Jessica was jealous so she diverted Mike's attention to Jessica. The only people that actually understood Bella were the Cullen. That's why her only best friend was alice. When Edward first met her. He was intrigued because he couldn't read her mind, she was an outsider like him, and could also tell what people were thinking in her own way. But he also disliked her because to vampires her blood smells better than any other human. And he hadn't fed in awhile.

Finally the moment you've been waiting for, werewolf lore. So the werewolf pack /tribe is like the native American mythical legends. They have a sacred animal. Like the movie brother bear. If the sacred animal was an eagle they would turn into a big eagle. If it was a bear they would turn into a big bear. For them it's a Wolf. But you have to have short hair because if it's long when you're human you're going to be a shaggy werewolf. It's why Jake cut off his hair. A werewolf can be male or female They only get the genes of a wolf between the ages of 13 through 16. And they are always human until vampires are near. They always have anger issues and have trouble fitting into places. That's why some skip school or run away from home. Like an argument can be dangerous because they can shift by mistake. Anger turns to rage. That's what happened to Sam and his fiance Emily. It's why she has a scar. So you have to stay in control. Kinda like the incredible Hulk XD. The wolves always have a mental pack link. When a wolf becomes part of the pack they can hear the others thoughts. There's a lot of parallel to the Cullens and the wolf pack. Cullens live in a big house and wear formal clothes. Wolf packs live on farms and wear more country clothes. Vampires are cold and wolves are always hot.

Next Edward Cullen analysis. Right off the back u can tell he is antisocial and shy. And he was probably like this when he was human. Becoming a vampire makes it difficult because you're in a new body with new impulses that could lead to destruction and no one can really stop you. So he has to have constant self control. Kinda like your kryptonian but with a bloodlust. And everyone wants to be around him because they're drawn to him. But because he can read minds he can probably find out what they're thinking to find ways to tell them to get lost. But because of what he is he's always alone. Even in his family he's alone in the beginning because everyone has someone except for him. So when he finds Bella, yes he's happy but a piece of him is hoping that she'll leave because he doesn't want her to feel the misery of being a vampire. Like even though he knows he'll never drink her blood because of how much self control he has over himself more than other vampires, he still makes jokes about it because a tiny piece of him is hoping that she'll leave.
I'm sensing a Twilight Marathon in your future, I'm so happy to see how much you're enjoying Twilight, these movies are my comfort movies and are fun to watch for sure. As soon as it hits fall - it's Twilight season. Have you seen The Vampire Diaries? Would love to see you react to that show, I think you'd really enjoy it.

Next the vampire lore. The concept of the vampires in twilight are completely different from what most people are used to. So like when they become a vampire their facial structure shifts in ways to make them like angels but also predators. And it's interesting because humans can revert to an animal type nature given the type of situation. Next their scent, voice and face attract people rather they like it or not. Which goes with what they're made of. Their body erupts into different kinds of material, ice, minerals and diamonds. It goes with the myth of why they can't go out into the sunlight, why they don't need to breathe, why they're so strong, and why they can pierce through skin without needing fangs. But here's the really interesting part, when they're torn apart they look like hollow dolls. It kinda symbolizes how dolls attract people and how beautiful they look. But the hollow part resembles their existence. Dolls never age, and their emotions are always beneath the surface. They don’t need to breathe, rest, or catch their breath. They only need blood for the cravings but their strength wouldn’t really deminesih without it. Kinda like kryptonians but with a bloodlust.

Notice the filter changes between the first and second movie. the first movie is all cool tones because it’s Edward’s story and he’s a vampire so cool tones makes sense for someone dead and new moon is all about Jacob’s story and the filter changes to warm tones and it’s full of color and life like Jacob

The movie doesn't do a good job of explaining but Bella is as reluctant to get married as Edward is reluctant to turn her. That's why the movie ends with Edward making marriage the trade-off for her being changed. It's not only likely to delay her decision but it would prove to him that she is serious about the commitment. He just upped the stakes.
Yeah that was a smart move from Edward. I know a lot of people don't wanna get married but if you're technically dead it won't matter anyway and if you can't commit to marriage then you can't commit to being a vampire forever. It's one of the good storytelling choices the author of the books made
Don’t listen to the toxic dudes. You can watch whatever the heck you want to! Probably some of my favorite movies to react to and you’re actually nice about it. Some people are just awful to watch react to them cause they don’t stfu about stupid things.
new moon is sooooooo good, as a closeted gay & depressed teen who experienced heartbreak trauma at a young age, bella resonated with me so much in that time period so I ate this whole series up. twilight is the shit & don't let anyone else tell you otherwise..(aside from the disgustingly cringe groomer storyline in breaking dawn) if you can move past that, it still holds up. one of the best YA franchises to ever do it! ESPECIALLY the finale. also the entire franchise has some of the best scores/soundtracks EVER!!! especially new moon's soundtrack, banger after banger!

Someone may have already mentioned it but just in case, the actor that plays Jacob, Taylor Lautner was going to be recast initially in New Moon because in the book Jacob was supposed to go through this physical transformation where we was bigger and bulkier. So Taylor Lautner gained I forget how much weight and worked out constantly to build himself to the physical appearance where he was able to keep his part as Jacob.
It's more likely that Edward has READ Romeo & Juliet more than he's SEEN it. Also considering his age and the time he's from, he's seen the stage production quite a lot. It's also likely that Edward has memorised that speech decades before TV was even invented.
I think it’s GREAT you watch these! I think the guys who don’t aren’t very comfortable w either their masculinity or something. I LOVE that you just watch it and enjoy it for what it is! Can’t WAIT to see you watch the rest!

They were going to replace him with someone more buff. Wellll Taylor Lautner wasn't having it!! That boy went Hard and got ripped! I remember watching interviews with him saying he was just carrying a cooler around with hamburger patties and eating those all day hahaha. Also, he had to slow it down in the gym cause he was gettin Too jacked up! Crazyness
