  • With what seems like record low temperatures lately I decided to to try starting the trucks when the temperature warmed up to minus 5 Celsius. Needless to say some surprise me and some don't. Trucking in the cold is no joke.

    Having all those trucks requires good planning. Good planning requires a good rocking chair and footstool. That’s where trouble arises. After a hard day, when hitting the rocking chair, slumber takes over before planning is complete. Hang in there, your fleet is steadily improving. Keep the middle ground, don’t cheap out or go overboard. Thanks for sharing with us, keep the ice out of your back, stay warm, and take care.

    As I recall, when cold starting a semi, never rev the engine, let it idle for a few minutes instead, specially when it is "surging" allow the engine tp settle first then use the high idle or damage may occur

  • @dennismundt7378
    @dennismundt7378 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    There are two ways that would improve your truck. These proposals cost money, but are a good investment for the future. The first option: You buy a Webasto diesel parking heater, which also preheats the engine. This Webasto heater can be activated with a timer and with a radio transmitter. They come to a preheated engine, or they turn on this system and go and have coffee while the engine and cab are being preheated. When they come back, the engine is preheated. The second option is to install a "Green APU". The "Green-APU" preheats the engine and also recharges the batteries. Both suggestions are good investments for your business. The engine has a longer service life due to a warm start and starts better, which in the long run reduces the costs for a workshop service. And should they ever sell the truck, they will achieve a higher value.
