    The new phone box in the position is the newer K6 phone box , The original Bowie phone box was a K2.The K2 With the square windows and was bigger 1926 production , the k6 is smaller and and more modern looking 1935 production has rectangle windows. Why the hell didn’t they put an original k2 back in place on that rock and roll history location. Great show I learnt a few new things about the location thanks 👍

      @WhyNotGoPlaces  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching! Yes, someone else also pointed out that the original box was a K2. When I did research online, I read that the council realized their mistake in putting a modern box there, so they replaced it with a vintage one. But not the correct vintage box! Oh well!

    Hello Maggy, Jason here again, great video again! Great albums were made at Trident Studios. A pity they doesn t exist anymore! Maggy I have also tears now, we lost the greatest artist of all times. I wished I could have seen him during that Ziggy Stardust Tour but I was only 5 in 1973. I will watch it on TH-cam! Another great video Maggie, its grrat to see these places again.
    In early 2020, i went on tour as merch seller, with Glen Matlock and Earl Slick for 9 dates in the UK. Ive been friends with Glen for over 20 years, but id only met Earl a few times. But hanging out with him before and after tge gigs and driving with them both to the next show was very cool. Earl, and Glen, are so down to earth. I mostly chatted and hung out with Earl and we talked about tattoos! Earl has a book out tgats a great read. I saw you already have Glens Triggers. Ill hopefully be joining Glen on his November tour of the UK.
    All the best from 🇬🇧

    Maggie!!! I was on Heddon Street last April showing my family the same stuff you and Joe the Legend visited. I'd been there in the early 90s when the bricks were still painted like they were in the 70s and there were no restaurants and stuff. A "Key West" sign was still on the door but the one in the iconic album cover photo was gone. In April I noticed that there was an eatery or something right off Regent Street on Heddon and they had a "Key West" replica sign that was quite impressive. Did you see it? It was before the Starman pub on the right. 20:02 ! The man is a superstar! Thanks for this. I watched it on a Friday instead of saving it for Sunday, but that's fine. I will rewatch on Sunday. Love love love to you and Joe. - Tommy from Philly

      Hi Tommy! Thanks again for watching! No I didn't see the KWest sign. I'll look for it. It was a pleasure to be at this location. I was overcome with emotion. I love those outtake photos. I tried to find a photo of the photographer Brian Ward, but couldn't. It's so interesting that the reason they were on Heddon Street is because he had his studio at 29 Heddon Street. I love those details. Glad you enjoyed it!

    Another great video Maggie! When I saw you were in London, I was thinking you should visit famous Bowie locations, Heddon st etc. . Great to see you did 👍👍. When I am next in London I want to get some pics around there.
    The Clash locations up at Campden are pretty cool too. A few years ago I was at an IT training course in Campden Stables Market, where the Clash were photo'd in the stairway for their first album, which used to be their rehearsal studio.
    I also used to work for an IT company based in the old EMI vinyl factory in Hayes, London. They had a museum in the building with famous emi artists, ie beatles, Queen, the sex pistols etc and lots of old vinyl on the walls on display. Was pretty cool. I live in Perth, Australia now. I love London for its music history, i miss being able to visit all those historic sites. Love your videos 👍
    Ps - On the Ziggy Tour, he played Worthing Assembly Halls on 11 May 72, ticket prices 50p lol. I saw a bowie tribute band in same worthing venue about 15 years ago, and I could not believe Bowie had played such a small venue on that amazing 1972 tour!

    • @WhyNotGoPlaces
      @WhyNotGoPlaces  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for tuning in again! Yes, when doing research for this video, I was surprised to learn that the Ziggy tour started in January 1972 (so early!) and that those early gigs were very small. By the time I saw him in March 1973, he was very famous. Basically, he became famous during the tour.
      Maybe I'll do some Clash videos next time I'm in London. I love Camden Town too.

    The phone box on the album cover with the equally sized panes is a model K2 and was introduced in the 1920s. The phone box now in place with the larger central panes is a model K6 dating from 1936, which is much smaller (and much plainer) than the K2

    I took pics in the same spot on Heddon St. as I’m sure many Bowie lovers have! Had you crossed Regent St. gone 1 block parallel, you’d be on Warwick St. where there’s *the* R’n’R hotel called the SoHo Sanctum. Next time you’re in SoHo stop in, tell them I sent you (I’m a member & know the entire staff). You’ll be treated very well in a fun creative R’n’R environment. Make sure to look at the various art displays all either by famous musicians or of musicians. You’ll love the giant Bowie pic! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🤘🦋🏍

      @@WhyNotGoPlaces - I’m not sure I know that one as there are so many, as you said. London is my 2nd home so I agree, just like NYC there’s so much music, literary, the arts in general to see just bumping into it by chance! The Sanctum is a boutique hotel, the best bar is their rooftop cigar bar w/ hot tub (for residents, members, no amount of chlorine is enough 😷… 😆watch, I’ll jump in next month🤣😆😂) especially when sunny, warm. On Kingly St. there’s the old “Bag O’ Nails” pub (empty😢) which was Hendrix’s 1st London gig ever. As soon as you walk into reception at the Sanctum there’s a lovely portrait behind reception & across to your left a beautiful stained glass portrait of him. I do long for at least the 80s/early 90s SoHo I loved so much when living there rho😢, the nightclubs were so much fun! J. 😘🧡

    D A Pennebaker (of Don't Look Back fame) filmed the last night of the Ziggy tour for a documentary, the release of which was held up until the 1980s, I think - possibly due to legal wrangles with Tony DeFries. It was eventually released on video as a performance film with much of the documentary footage cut. I hope the footage still exists and someone restores it. Also, Bowie's dresser and make-up assistant from that tour, Suzi Ronson, has published a memoir, which I recommend.
