I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that this creates more pollution, and takes more energy than making a new tire. Similarly when you make something out of recycled materials... This requires you to process an entirely new resource... Which takes more time, energy, materials, facilities, labor and resources. Plus at the same time you are "recycling" this resource, you lower the cost to produce the item. This means it's easier for you to mass produce even more of these products at a lower cost. So what does that mean? Recycling makes it even easier to pollute! But this is also a double edged sword. We also benefit from everyone having affordable products. Like food. And so it isn't so clear to me that if we can say that we have to stop recycling either. A small change like the affordability of one product can effect the whole. We might be in a position where we need people to have cheap tires so they can go to work to support the farmers, truckers, and families that provide us with something as simple as our food. If we suddenly were to make it so nobody could travel anymore... This could lead to severe difficulties in just the simple task of keeping us all fed. So I guess what I'm saying is we need responsible stewardship. But at the same time... Before we start importing entire industries to where they previously did not exist... Maybe we should ask a question of the cost and need. Are there NO other facilities or industries who are already capable of using this raw material? And if there are, maybe we should streamline that process instead. It would probably be better for the environment.

Retreading a tractor tire or tires for other slow moving vehicles isn’t a bad idea! Retreads on cars/truck/semi trucks is a bad idea they are junk and fall apart
Absolutely true, i saw plenty of retreaded tyres just fall apart in highways or even streets, it's not a good idea but in slow moving vehicules there's no problem at all.
I do think there is a point to retreading on semi's in some cases given that some see nearly constant highway driving they can often wear down the tread well before the carcass and sidewall are worn. Because of this many tire manufacturers offer retread services. Though I have also seen this done badly by putting new treads on old dry rotted tires.
