    My 1970 triumph Stag is an excellent tow car; it has to get towed to nearly everywhere it goes.

    So the winner is the Skoda Superb estate ! Because who pays for the VW badge when Skoda does it just as well !

    Interesting to see the massive jump in cost from the Nissan X-Trail to the next step (the X5).

    Passat a great choice for towing but a 1.5 turbo petrol? Wouldn't that be a bit underpowered? And I suspect very thirsty when working that hard? I have the 1.5 in my golf 7 estate and it's reasonable in that even loaded but not loaded with torque and I think it'd struggle a bit with a caravan compared to the much more suitable 2.0 turbo diesel

      I looked at the skoda karoq when they first came out. I asked about getting a tow bar fitted to a manual diesel. Salesman told me there wasn't a type approved towbar for a manual diesel, I would need a dsg diesel or a manual petrol. I queried the logic because It didn't make sense. Karok was fine, petrol was fine, dsg was fine, diesel was fine, manual was fine but not in certain configuration. I ended up with a vw t6 camper and sold the van. Lol

    Imagine being able to afford a BMW or Land Rover and choosing to sit in a tin can on holiday.

      @@avanishingmind It's as if anyone can do anything they want as long as they don't violate the ToS. Apparently a number of people agree with me.

      Imagine being able to afford a new tin box, a range rover and still have the time to tow it all over Europe. The cheak of some people.

    So why don't you mention anything about range in the fossil cars? like it's only relevant for EVs!? I would like to know how much the range is affected in the other cars than EV9!

    • @stephencollins7714
      @stephencollins7714 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Probably because refuelling an ICE car only takes a few minutes so the reduced range is not as much of an issue but I agree that it would have been useful to have comparable figures.

      OK EVangelist 😐

    • @samuelhall02
      @samuelhall02 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I’m an EV driver and even I can see how this is a false equivalence. You tried charging whilst towing? It’s a pain! Fuelling an ICE car whilst towing is no different than when not towing so for once I do think it’s fair to criticise the range. Plus, towing a caravan is likely to involve longer journeys than normal.

    £34,000 for a ford focus 😂

      Seriously overpriced this shouldn’t be anymore than £26,000 as you can buy a ST focus estate for around £35,000

    No way these tiny engines will give any real longevity. A 1.0 in the focus, be lucky to last 50k.

    Haha I’m sorry but nothing will beat a ford falcon wagon from Australia as tow car. A proper 4.0 litre inline 6 cylinder petrol engine under the bonnet. Made for Australian conditions anything else just pails in comparison.

      As long as you don't need to use the brakes.... they are atrocious even without a caravan in tow. Rather you than me.

    • @zespritz
      @zespritz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely nothing will beat a Ford Falcon, that is nothing except an Aussie Chrysler Valiant or CF, especially the 360 V8. Albeit I would give the aussie Ford V8 Marquis a run. Used a Marquis to tow a 3 tonne keel yacht from Surfers to Roslyn Bay, it would pull at 120km over the top of the Sunshine Bridge complete with bimini erect, and dingy in davits, Impressive, and it had the brakes to stop, even more impressive.

      Towing capacity isn’t great. The Model 3 can’t tow any caravan on sale and the Model Y is below average for its class.

      EVs are the best towing cars when it comes to stability and power. The only downside to Evs is the range, but if you can live with charging 20-30 minutes every 2 hours. it will do fine towing campers!

      And I will buy a fully loaded Kia EV9 GT Line anyway.
