I was around 35 when my x left me for another woman. Looking back, I should have sent her a Thank You note!Lol!Everyone said I would get “lonely” if I didn’t date. Well, I am 71 and still waiting to get lonely! Lol! I now thank God I didn’t have to spend my time trying to take care of a sick, grumpy old man! As far as staying in your home goes, houses have a lot of memories. The best thing I did was sell the house & get a smaller house. The older you get, less is better, trust me. You're a great inspiration. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who turns lamp shades to hide the seam or strives for symmetry & balance. As a USCG wife of a 26.5 year veteran, I got lots of practice at decorating. Bolts of white muslin were sewn into drapes (if I could afford the hooks) if not, I made simple curtains. My motto was keep it simple, basic, interchangeable and let the accessories spice it up. I love your creativity and style!

You are lucky that w/ a small apartment, you can afford to LIVE in NYC.
I always laugh when someone is saying they're doing a small room or apartment & it's big. I saw a video once of a small apartment in NYC & it was bigger than my mom's house. Where in NYC would an 1,800 sq ft apartment be considered small? LOL My mom's house is around 1,100 sq ft & I find it's too big. We don't need that much space to live.
That is his apartment now lol. The video is to divide it into living spaces

I don't write that much on TH-cam, but just wanted to let you know that you are one of the best if not the best interior designer I have ever watch. Your life is starting all over again and it must be better.
You are right! First thing is first, CLEAN.
Then little things like symmetry, balance, proper placement and details like hiding the lamp shade seam.. you have taught me so much over the years. You made this space look fabulous on each budget and prioritized beautifully! Thank you both for working hard and staying kind, giving, humble, funny and of course as darling as can be! People like you make social media sparkle. ✨✨✨

Loving you showing the three budget levels. I find that so many want to have the "perfect magazine" home when they are just starting out. This just shows you can have wonderful style that still fits within all sorts of budgets. I particularly like you adding the softer element with those watercolor pillows. With everything more bold and color blocked... be it black and white, or with touches of citrus, the visual texture and lightness of the watercolor pattern makes a great addition. Also, the fabric window treatments behind the bed elevate the room so much! Nice job in all three budgets!
Rebecca has the Midas touch. Everything you touch transforms into something short of magical. It creates awe, inspiration and admiration.
There are so many designers all over the world but it’s Rebecca that will be the one you’ll remember. FABULOUS ✨

$1,200 lowest? haha I thought they were starting out with the highest!! I'm a thrift shop type of DIYer. Thanks for the ideas in the meantime!

And without all that furniture they already had at the beginning.
IKR...Spent most of the budget on the bed linens. Really? No nightstands. Um...that will never work for most people. They could've bought some smaller 2 or 3 drawer dressers for not much money. I like the lights, but impractical next to a bed. The second one the spent $200 on the blind for the door? Again really? Have they not heard of spray paint.

@@Marys_Life_64 Right? Honestly, I'm at a loss, and sort of baffled after finding this channel. Don't get me wrong, the room(s) came out gorgeous, each time. But, replacing the rug (twice), replacing the sofa when there wasn't anything wrong with the first one except the color, spending money on (multiple) sets of art... I've bought 1000-1200 Egyptian (or Pima) cotton sheet sets, a nice, heavy comforter and cover, decorative pillows, plus the underpinnings - including a 4" egg crate overlay and a soft, thick "spa" mattress cover for under $300. (Feels like sleeping on a marshmallow. LOL!) For the initial $1200, they got 600 thread count sheets, art and closet doors (currently $60 at Ikea)... Then included the lamp from the night stand in another budget? No nightstands at all, so... Just drop your phone and the book you're reading under the gorgeous lamps on the floor? But, then not only can't use a window coating (or the stuff on a roll like Contact paper, but for windows in about 1000 different paterns), or anything else besides a $200 matchstick blind, that I just found for between $14-$38 (only looked at the first 3 that popped up on Google) and linen curtains, that I found for $59 at Ikea. (Since they were there getting doors, right?) But, somehow they still couldn't afford ANY nightstands? What the heck? I'm really not sure what to think at this point. Good tips, but ridiculously un-budget friendly. And, it really could have been! Especially considering they huge head start they had in the pieces they started out with and were able to shop from the rest of the houses.
In watching your videos, I love how you take something that isn’t good design and make changes so it looks intentional and is changed into great design. You are magic!!! ❤️

That's what I'm skimming through the comments to find out!
based on the last video (300, 600 and 1200), it should be double the budget for every level. So, if the lowest budget is 1200, then budget 2nd is 2400, then 3rd is 4,800.
2nd budget is $2500 and the third is $5500. This was a part of the design sessions video that you can subscribe to! She goes into way more detail in that (it's a 40 minute video versus a 15-20 minute video). :)

Lol Symmetry, floor to ceiling curtains, mirrors to reflect windows, mirrors to mimic windows, especially when windows aren’t there (see the blue room of the roommate that thought her furniture would work in her new room) I’ve learned it all from you Lady Robeson!! For many years you were the only designer I COMPLETELY trusted. Thanks SOOO much for years of sharing your love and knowledge of the beautiful world of interior design. That said, I still struggle a bit with my apartment in Hollywood, only because I’m indecisive. O.M.G finally!!!! I was like "where the heck did Rebecca get off to?" Sooo who is staying in that room? I mean we will totally come stay in it.
