I really really hope this is an unbiased comparison. I've seen some very very questionable and quite frankly disgusting comparison videos about these two products lately.
Again, I TOTALLY understand that vibe. If you think I said something wrong in here though, for sure let me know! This is absolutely how I see these two cameras👍
@@cinialvespow1054 you are aware that the words "sponsored" and "biased" are not synonyms, right? It might make it more difficult to be unbiased out of a concern for future relationships or compensation, but it is obviously possible.
I'm kind of missing the comparison between battery life on the GO 2, charging time, how often can you charge it in the case and how long can you record with the internal 32GB (28GB) memory and how this affects the choice wether to go with the GoPro or GO 2. If I'm planning a whole day where im out and i wanna film stuff i kinda see problems here with the GO 2. Would have wished that you said something about that. Otherwise great Video.
Great point Torben! For sure check out my full video on the GO 2 for more detailed info, but you’re totally right. The GO 2 is designed for shorter film days. The camera itself has about 30 mins battery life before you need to pop it back in the charge case for a fill up. All in, with the charge case, you get about 150 minutes, which is about two-ish GoPro batteries👍
@@DavidManningvlog don't forget that with the GoHero you can change the SD card. With GO2 you must download the footage which takes a very LONG time wireless, if you fill the full storage then you will use the case battery to download everything to your phone.
Lol agreed... Why spend money on an adapter and fiddle around with putting the camera in, then attaching and all that extra work. Seems like a quick, easy and cheap solution. K. I. S. S.
Great video. The GO 2 looks tempting but I wonder, what is the lifespan of the built in battery? The lack of 4K for $300 is quite expensive in 2021. Other than that, I like the form factor and I’m sure it can be used in so many creative ways. I’m hoping for at least 4K in the next version with more storage.
Independent of the comparison to the GoPro I don’t think you’re accurately gauging how big of a negative the built in battery and memory are. This creates an immediate blocker for me to use the Insta360 Go 2. I do a lot of hiking and backpacking which is my primary use case for any action camera. If I’m out in the woods for 3 days having multiple memory cards and extra batteries is a requirement. This is even more of an issue if I want to film myself doing something like catching a fish. You don’t know when the fish is going to bite so you end up constantly filming for extended periods - way longer than the Insta360 Go 2 will support.
Yeah, for your use case, I would for sure grab the GoPro. Like i was saying at the end, for heading to the park with my daughter, everyday life where I’m just filming quick clips, and times when I either need to get into a tight spot or need to be able to reframe my footage, I’ll grab the GO. Then when I need longer filming times, swappable batteries/sd cards, and things like external mics, I’ll be grabbing the GoPro👍
The current price of the Hero 9 is $349 with a spare battery and 64gb MSD. Most people film in 4k or above so that when editing we can down sample to a different resolution, without losing the detail.
Yeah, I should have said $399. My bad, I didn’t check the latest pricing. $349 is with the subscription though, so I would say $399 is a fairer price to quote👍
Also workflow is important for people who like to edit on their PC or laptop. The Insta360 Go 2, is limited to uploading through the app and the internal capacity on the Go 2 is very small/limited. You've got to remember to transfer files to the phone or you can't use it. Very slow process. I can see some reviewers stating the workflow being cumbersome.
@@RUmlas You can also plug the GO directly into your computer and upload the files directly to your computer. That’s for sure the fastest and easiest way of moving the Pro Video files through a workflow. As soon as you plug the GO into your computer, it pops up just like an SD card on your desktop👍
Man, I totally feel you! Honestly though, I’m worried about them. I was shocked to see the comments on my Six Months Later video of just how many people are having issues with them. DJI and Insta360 are nipping at their heels!😬
Yeah, I think this just isn’t that camera. They have the ONE R for their line up at that point, but this is more like the GoPro Session of old! Tiny action camera that you can put in crazy small places and just have it to quickly shoot and go👍
There's definitely a place for the go especially for fpv. It's more of a new gopro session more than a gopro replacement. The non-swappable battery is still an Achilles heal but at least u can charge it fast with a quick pop into the case. A little bit pricy for what it is, I think if they had dropped the price another $50, it'll sell like hot cakes.
Can you take this surfing? I'm interested how the battery/storage would work for a proper session. Also the one button user interface might be quite annoying without an easy way to see what mode your recording in
Hello David You didn't mention the battery life in your comparison, nor the estimated recording time of the Go 2. I'm currently using a Hero 8 and a Hero 6 in shooting the test drives and onboard footage used on my channel, will the Go 2 be a suitable replacement for any of them?
I was sitting on the fence for a couple of weeks and finally ordered the Go 2... between that and my phone and mirrorless I’ve got all the bases covered!
My GoPro Hero 7 used to constantly freeze until I installed the GoPro Labs firmware onto it. Since then it has been an amazing camera and just works. Have you tried putting the GoPro Labs firmware onto the GoPro9 to see if it make any difference?
Personally I think the GoPro colors look worse as they seem to have a weird orange tint to them, and I have noticed this in a lot videos that showcases GoPro as having the best color. I noticed it more in the stabilization clip where the dirt path, the watch band, and even in the skin tones all had the orange really highlighted in the GoPro footage. I think once you see it you can usually tell right away, unless it is edited to reduce that orange saturation.
What on earth was GoPro thinking when they discontinued their Session camera instead of advancing it? As an FPV pilot I've been avoiding buying a GoPro for the last few years because they stopped innovating the action cam form-factor. Finally a smarter company has stepped up and steered this in the right direction. Have been flying with the GO2 and it's just an incredible leap forward. GoPro now needs to catch up.
I understand this is a paid review but there is information really useful when comparing those two cameras and it's not mentioned. GoPro can record much longer than the Insta360. The Insta360 only records for 10 or 15 minutes straight. Not all youtubers are saying this. It could be a deal breaker for some people.
Excellent you pointed out the two things I don't like about GoPro Hero 9. I hate it when it messes up when I really need it. Insta360 I'll definitely be looking into.
For now I'm sticking with my Hero 9. The built in battery on the Go 2 is a non-starter for me. I'm out for multiple hours on my mountain bike rides and I need a camera that can do that. And I do publish my videos in 4K.
You've hit gold without even knowing it by developing the ideal product. An action cam with front & back screen & a detachable secondary camera, which in your case was attached by tape. Two action camera's in one! 🏆
Hi David! Have you tried Go 2 in a bite mount? Coz that's how I use my GoPro. I just wanna know the feeling of it and the view compared to their hat clip? Hope you reply! Thanks!
After realizing that GoPro was not interested in helping me turn my Karma Drone into anything other than a paper weight or bookend, I will not be giving them another penny. Looking for an alternative, this review was very helpful. Wanting to see more comparison reviews, thanks!
great comparison thanks, I just shot some stuff on my GoPro hero 7 black and it wouldn't turn on once, had to take the battery out and restart it, I have had freezing issues as well. Crazy they haven't fixed these issues after several years.
How about shooting length? How long can you shoot videos for? Go 2 ten minutes out of case. Limited to 32 Gb memory and once filled you have to download. My Go 2 has overheating issues so next week it's going back.
David, I would (and did) choose the GoPro 9. I didn't pay as much as you mentioned either, however I would have if I had to. I got the 9 with 3 batteries, dual battery charger, the Max Lens, a case to keep it all in and a memory card for $414 and change. Oh and I got a year's subscription to GoPro..(not a big deal to me though). Thanks, bf
Damn, that’s a hell of a deal Bill! The thing is, I still love the GoPro and in my last video, I mentioned how damn good it is! BUT, I just can’t trust it to not freeze up on me, which is a real bummer. Like a Ferrari that breaks down every tenth drive
@@DavidManningvlog Freezing up is bad, but so far not a problem for me. I would like it though if the GoPro Support team were more in tune with me. Poor support. I will get through it though because I am persistent. Everyone assumes I have had 8 GoPro cameras before this one. This is the first and I'm starting from zero. bf
Thanks for this bud. I think the stability of the GoPro is a bit frustrating here and there and I think I can see a ton of use cases for the Go 2 and may well get one, but the enormous stumbling block for me is built in non upgradable memory. Mid shoot having to pause to offload files to the phone, wipe it before you can keep going might mean missing a ton of shots. So I think I’d still use the GoPro in the main and use the Go 2 on a hat in unison / second angle etc. cheers for the comparison 🙌🏻
A few people have mentioned it on here, but I think a great perspective on the GO 2 is that it’s basically an updated GoPro Session! A tiny action cam that gets you the same footage as the larger Hero, but with built in battery and memory. GoPro just doesn’t make the session anymore, otherwise that would have been the perfect comparison👍
You need to compare actual usage of each one. How long can the gopro go on a charge vs the go2. If my gopro dies i have two other batteries. If the go2 dies and it's done until i charge it. Sure i can use the case if it's charged and should be, but how much time does that add? Those batteries must be small. The gopro touch screen sucks and it annoys me using it, but I like the swappable batteries and other power options.
Which one do you think would be better for working out? I'm stuck because it seems the Hero9 is the better specs( But I've seen some bugs that worry me in some reviews) but the 360 seems like it's so easy to have around. I'm trying to workout via running, weight lifting and want to use a chest mount. Do you think one would be better than the other? I'm new to action cameras and the video helped, but what do you think is better?
Yeah, the audio section didn’t make the edit on this comparison. I covered it in each individual video review, but basically they’re both super impressive when there’s no wind. Then both struggle real hard with any wind, with the GoPro doing slightly better due to the multiple mics👍
David, I appreciate your review and comparison of the products. There's one thing that you didn't cover in either your review of the go 2, the actual length of time that you can record in pro mode or normal record time. I had to go looking for that, and it was a hint of something you said in the video that made me go...wait, it has no sd card slot...so where is it saving the data ? For those of you reading thus far: The Go2 has a max memory limit in Pro Video mode: 10 mins, Video mode: 15 mins, and FPV mode: 30 mins. So what are you supposed to do when you're in the middle of a shot...? It's not like you can swap cards.
You know David, GoPro has been around for a very long time and to have their latest product still have problems (freeze up and the interface being buggy), is not acceptable. The competition is listen to their customer and GoPro doesn't seem to care. I think DJI Action Camera is the way to go....
Curious about just how waterproof is the Insta360 Go 2? I don't want you to destroy your camera but Id like to see something other than splash or in a glass of water type vids. Perhaps a legit day at the pool with serious underwater time. Also can you export directly to PC or Lacie drive with this little cam? Thoughts?
Once I get the action camera mount for it and I'm not just using gaff tape, I'll for sure get this thing out surfing. That'll be a solid water test! And yes, plugs straight into your computer to quickly offload photos/videos. Not sure about the Lacie drive compatibility since I haven't tried that, but I would assume it would work the same👍
Not really a comparison between the 2. Go with the GoHero for longer than 7-13 minutes of continuous filming or did you forgot to mention overheating issues in pro mode? MacBook M1 usb c to USB c also not working.
Have you not checked out GoPro Labs and the QRControl app? So many functions and features available for GoPro HERO9/8/MAX that you just don't get with other "action" cameras.
David - If not the GoPro for small form factor, water/damage resistant camera, vlogging camera... What would you choose? Insta360 One X2? Or Still GoPro?
They should add a find my device feature for the insta 360 go 2 or even when they make the go 3, because since it's super small it's probably easy to lose
very good, thumbs up - how about more comparison footage in the future? I think I will buy the GO 2 - love it. Do you know how long the built-in battery lasts and how much is the replacement?
I am about to enter into action camera world and has zero knowledge about it. I am thinking of buying insta360 go 2 for content creating which will have bike tour, hiking, skiing etc. I really appreciate how handy and easy to use go 2 is but only thing i am worried about is battery performance and that little 32gb storage capacity. I mean i go on ride, shoot for 30-60 min and storage gets full. Wouldn't it be too much pain to download those files every now and then. Charging the camera is also the concern for me but not as much as the storage is. Can't we do something to extend the storage or something like that. Your answer will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
Dude, I’m totally with you! I’ve always been a huge GoPro advocate. I’m just hoping their next camera will be more stable. After my last update video on it, I was bummed to see that so many people are having issues
Thanks. Useful. I have the hero8 and the Go 2 now. I think both work well and serve a purpose but the Go 2 is so much easier to carry around. The only real relative issue I have with the Go2 is having to download the files and manage them, which is a bit cumbersome and time consuming. I would like a micro SD in the carrying/charging case as it would simplify the file management issues
David, do you know if there are any foldable fingers like gopro’s but for the One X2 that can be attached to my camera for gopro mounts but that won’t get in the way of screwing my X2 onto Insta360’s selfie sticks without needing to remove it from the camera?
Great vid as usual David - do you think the Insta360 Go 2 could be used as a motovlog helmet camera in some way? I appreciate I'd need to use an external sound recorder for my audio, but do you think the Go could be mounted to my helmet somehow? I currently use the Hero 7 and 9's but am sick of their unreliability. Cheers, Bruce
I think my takeaway from this is that they're not so much _competing_, as complimentary; like, the Go 2's limited built-in memory and battery mean it can't do some things the Hero 9 can, but its small form factor and light weight mean it's also more convenient for some things like POV shots. Interesting comparison. Do you need the Insta360 program to edit the Go 2's footage, or could you just take its 1:1 ratio raw footage and work with that in a video editor to crop it to (say) a 16:9 format? (There's no native Linux version of the program, so that's automatically an additional hurdle to using the Go 2 if it's required...)
Just bought the Insta360. I've been looking for a compact, hands-free option for a while (and honestly, I'm not a GoPro fan). Looking forward to making some FPV videos!
@5:49 the names are reversed. Unless you have the GoPro 9 on a low resolution and bad color scheme, it looks blurry and colors are oversaturated. I have the GoPro 9 and it's never put out the bad quality you show here. That's why I believe you have the respective camera names reversed.
Nope, that’s both cameras in their default modes. It was an overcast day for some of the shooting and GoPro will regularly look more yellowish in overcast situations. I checked the files twice and that’s the right names👍
the colors of insta360 end up pleasing me more in all comparisons and I was shocked by this. apart from the difference in price and practicality. I was looking for a gopro 9 but the price kept me from buying it, but insta 360 will enter my backpack as soon as it arrives in my country
Totally Romi! Coloring is so subjective, like when the Osmo Action came out and some people like the colors from the Action and some people preferred the colors of the Hero. I think the GO 2 is somewhere in the middle, but leans more towards what an Osmo Action colors are. The GoPro has always been pretty heavy handed with the yellows and blues
I think for the Insta360 it would be nice if the case had a slot for an SD card so that while it is in the case all of the files go to that card. I know it would require a larger case and some serious software but it would be super nice. That's all I got! Love the video.
Oh man, I’m not sure if this made the edit on this video, but I said the same thing! If the case had a microSD card slot, you could just off load as you go throughout the day. Solid idea for the GO 3👍
Thanks for the video. But... If you only had one and not both... GoPro wins cause you can see what your shooting. Does Insta Go ll have an app to see what you're shooting...?
Thanks. Totally agree gopro needs a 10 that is smaller and more reliable to own the market. Waiting on the dji action 2, and will pick up the 360 as there are a lot of places where a small camera is the most important feature
I have the original Go and that one doesn't hold a charge. When you put the camera in the case, the camera will constantly drain power from the case. The there is no charge in the case. I've tried putting the camera in the case opposite of the pin but then the case still doesn't hold its charge. The other thing is in order to transfer files to your phone, the case must have a full charge along with the camera. Don't get me wrong, I love the camera but I dont thin its a Go Pro replacement.
I have the GoPro hero 7.. but found myself using the One R more these days (especially the 360 mod). Go 2 looks like a great addition for action shots on the dry when I do not want to carry something heavy (trail running, cycling etc), for rugged action I will stick with GoPro for now... as a side note.. I am sure they do not tell you what to say, but sponsorship most definitely will influence your view, even it be subconscious. As they say, don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Is the Gopro 9 and mod a 360 cam ? Like realy ? Or jist kinda 360 and just the level horizon ? I am confused becssue I do care about audio and lowlight and I am about to buy the Insta360 X One and I love it beside no mic input!!?? So I want to know if the mod and GP9 is just as good as the GoPro max 360 camera? Or close enough to make it worthy!!!? And get obviously GoPro lowlight pictures ??
No, if you're looking for 360 footage, the GoPro9+MAX lens mod won't do it for you. It just allows you to do horizon leveling no matter what angle the camera is at. The Insta360 X2 might be my favorite action camera to use right now. The workflow is longer because of reframing, but hot damn it's worth it to me!
@@DavidManningvlog is it harder than gopor app? wich seemed easy key framing? ....and i the audio is just terrible in the instaGO2 but i would get it if it had mic plug in for vlogging and was on amazon i would get it ! because i have amazon credit,, but its no where! but last qustion, i read the app was easy with the instago2 that the clips come out the app ready to use so are they not using the same app as the insta360x2 and the GO2?
Is the Canon EOS M50 still the best budget camera? I'm looking to get my first bigger camera, but I don't know what to choose. Let's say I have a budget of €1000 for a whole setup and I want a flip-screen to the side. What should I get?
My GoPro fails on a regular basis. The touch screen is painful, needs multiple touches. And, I simply can not get good video out of it. And I've gone through the settings many times tweaking it, but no. It's either blown out or horrible resolution. I have had 4 GoPros and frankly, I'm done. Just got my Insta 360 One X2 and got it out and used it without any problems or glitches. Yay! Thanks for the great videos. And I believe someone can get a product from the manufacturer and do an honest video.
Well, I’m super bummed to hear your experience with GoPro, but stoked that you’re loving the ONE X2 so far! Check out a recent video I made on the reframing process where I talk about “Viewfinder Mode”! My favorite way to reframe! And for sure look into “Steady Shot Mode” as well. Both super useful!
why is there no mention about battery life? about clip length before overheating? about how long it takes to charge it, instead of just swapping a battery in 5 sec? whats the point of being able to mount it on your forehead when your shooting autonomy is 10 miutes, or max 30? please do a little more critical review, not just infomercial. We know you can do it :)
For me GP9 - I like freediving - so 60m case is a must, I love snowboarding - during the day I burn 3 batteries (in the cold its not so hard), and the family time - framing wife and kids into the picture is much easier. I would like to see some harder stabilization test (not just runing) - I love mtb and that is critical also. But this is personal preference. I underestand GoPro session users before, I underestand GO2 users now :)
Thank you for that. When the camera is lighter it helps all round, carrying, mounting, accessibility, positioning, and a heap of more benefits and advantages
Great video! I was in a big hesitation but now I think that I will pick up the Insta360 for my FPV drone videos... The quality looks okay and the weight make a major difference. Thanks for the comparison!
Very interesting comparison, but not entirely fair IMO. First, I would like you to compare battery life and memory space for travel. Second, comparing 5K and 2.5K footage in 1080p??? I totally agree with you on portability. Great video 😀
I have both. Go2 so great to use. Great in bright day time. But not as good in dark. But on the drone the weight saving so worth it. I use hero9 when I just know I want the best shot.
Hahaha, you mean with the gaff tape🤣 The GoPro is still an amazing camera, but it’s awesome to see a tiny camera like this easily keeping up with the Hero 9. For real, I was shocked when I first saw the side by side!
I'd like to see a comparison video of editing footage from both cameras on mobile, and, in particular, PC (since that's my preferred platform). In my experience, I've found editing GoPro footage to be as easier on PC as Insta360 is on mobile.
You are such a nice person. I love your smile. Insta Go 2 is nice, such a pity you can't do live streaming with it, and I wish it had better microphone and larger storage.
Love your videos David, but can totally understand why people felt the comparison is biased. I felt it was very much a video to justify why the Go 2 is better than the GoPro, due to you showing us lots of areas where the Go 2 is better, and the GoPro is worse. Might have felt less unbiased if you'd showed us more areas where the GoPro beats the Go 2. Such as the ability to change battery, the benefits of removable memory, the ruggedness of the GoPro etc My big issue with the Go 2, and the reason I can't justify buying one, is the 32gb (28gb usable) internal storage. Defo a deal breaker for me. Whereas with my GoPro, with the right memory card and several batteries, I can film for hours. But I trust your reviews David, and can see that you love the Go 2. Personally, I just feel it was your enthusiasm for the Go 2 that made the video feel a little Go 2 biased. But please don 't change, and keep up the good work. Thanks, Jon from the UK
Thanks jonnmedds, I totally see how that came across. I think really what it was though was an underdog comparison video. I thought the GoPro 9 was going to blow the GO 2 out of the water! It really should have. Then to see the GO 2 keep up with color/stabilization from the GoPro, I was just shocked! I have a follow up video that's going to respond to a lot of the questions floating around, but someone commented on here that I thought was the right perspective. The GO 2 is more akin to the GoPro Session that they got rid of. It's like a new and improved GoPro Session!
The X2 is my current favorite action camera to shoot! The workflow is obviously tougher, but the AI app stuff is even making that faster. If Insta360 could get the X2 up to exporting at 1440p, and add the ability to hook in Bluetooth audio, it would be AMAZING!
I don't mind the size of the GH9 at all. I do feel the insta360 Go 2 does have its benefits to add to one's toolbox. I'd like to see gopro add a small camera like insta360 to the collection
That’s what’s crazy, GoPro had the Session and people LOVED it! I think they only got rid of it because it was cannibalizing their Hero sales. It was a super dope little camera though!
I've used 3 different GoPros over the years, but the smaller Insta GO2 appeals for small size and easier POVs. They do need to fix the camera switch that gets pressed too easily! Great video comparison!
First of, love the channel David... How much do you use your Insta360 One R??? Would the One R be a suitable replacement for your GoPro 9??? That would keep your vlogging/POV cameras within the same family and may save you some time editing??? Just a thought...
if you are going to be able to see any difference, you should film in the dark because it has the sensors, I myself bought a Hero 9 black and I am happy with it
Those of us who watch your channel regularly KNOW your integrity and know you will be fair and balanced and tell us the truth, no matter who sponsored the video. I'm surprised how good the Insta360 GO2 is. I agree that the advantages of the GoPro are: the ability to use external microphone (albeit with a Media Mod or audio adapter, the higher resolution and the front screen, but the size of the Insta360 Go2 is just amazing. I love it that you used gaffers tape to tape it to the GoPro for the side by sides! LOL
Thanks Cliff! Yeah, for me the GO 2 will be my everyday action camera. Quick, easy, and fun to pull clips onto my phone and post. The GoPro is my longer form filming and editing camera, where I can swap out batteries and SD cards for full days of shooting and vlogging👍 They both have their advantages/disadvantages, but damn I was shocked that the GO 2 could keep up with the GoPro on stabilization and image quality. The best part of all of it is that competition is good for the consumer. Having brands like Insta360 and DJI nipping at GoPro’s heels pushes them all forward to make better and hopefully more stable cameras!
In the market for a new GoPro to upgrade from my Hero4. Looking very much into the 360 Go2. Really liked the comparison. Also, Totally off topic….where can I get one of those that Bracelets on your right wrist?? LOL. Pretty bad ass BTW! Wife loved it. 👍🏽 would appreciate if you let me know where I can get one
Just a tad over sharpened on the insta360 but if there was a blind test (like the smartphone camera blind test MKBHD always does) most people would choose the sharpened one as the "better" quality. In fact, side by side with the GoPro, I actually feel like the insta360 looks better overall. Even the stabilization actually looks better on the insta360. I really think there's no question here. The only things in my opinion that really makes the GoPro worth considering over the insta360 is the battery and microSD. I use my GoPro so much for outdoor activity events like hiking and scuba diving. I need it to last at least an hour. But... I know this might sound crazy, but I think you could solve that issue with buying two insta360. GoPro + Max Mod = $550 vs. $600 = TWO Insta360
See, this is exactly what I said about GoPro leaving the door open for competitors to fill the space of the Hero Session! There is a definite market segment for smaller, lighter POV cams. Good for Insta360 capitalizing on this niche! Seriously though, did NOT expect the quality to be that close!
I'm really hoping gopro brings the session back. All they need to do: add a removable battery, add that buttery hypersmooth 3.0, and keep the price reasonable. I'd buy like 4 of them lol
Man, someone else said that and I was like, HOLY HECK THAT’S IT! I’m so bummed I didn’t think to say that in this video, but Insta360 basically just redesigned and improved on the GoPro Hero Session! I’m shocked that GoPro stopped making that camera because it had a loyal fan base! And I’m with you, I did not expect the GO 2 to be able to keep up with the 9. Especially on stabilization!
I think it realy depends on what and how u want to film. From a perspectiv of long filming siqunces is hero 9 or any GoPro better way to go. You can just swap akku and the card and ther u go, you can rekord again. This kind of footage on inst is bother becaus on cant just swap the SD card and has to charge the battery. From a view of short sequences ist the Insta360 GO2 better way to because of the small formfaktor. So at the End it realy depends on the job for those cameras, bouth has thair advantages and disadvantages.
I really really hope this is an unbiased comparison. I've seen some very very questionable and quite frankly disgusting comparison videos about these two products lately.
Wdym disgusting ? You mean like talking heads shilling the go 2 ?
It’s not unbiased. It’s sponsored. That’s that.

Hahaa! Don’t get me wrong, I’m stoked to get my hands on the action cam mount! But in the mean time, a bit of gaff tape always does the trick🤣
Kept thinking the Go 2 footage was GoPro. Wow
@@RUmlas Mobile software for Insta360 Go was pitiful and I am back to my Hero 7b.
@@alternatereality7713 was that for the old GO or the new GO II?
Both, what I heard was that I needed both. At this point there is so much invested in GoPro that switching is hard. Thanks for the review.
I'm literally switching LITERALLY right now to the insta 360 onex2 horrible name but it'll be here Friday and I have my hero 9 on offer up right now
Man, I totally feel you! Honestly though, I’m worried about them. I was shocked to see the comments on my Six Months Later video of just how many people are having issues with them. DJI and Insta360 are nipping at their heels!😬
@@B-RaDD and dude, you’re going to LOVE that thing!!! The workflow is murder, but the results are incredible!
@@DavidManningvlog ohh really. Shoot I just cancelled the order. (JK)
@@B-RaDD Hahahaa! Yeah, 360 workflow has the extra step of reframing after you’ve shot the footage. But hot damn are the results amazing!
I would have ordered the insta last week if the mic was better or if it would allow for an external mic while it’s in the case.
HOLY COW!!! How did I not think to use that comparison! That’s exactly what it is!!! It’s the new GoPro session!
@@DavidManningvlog 😉
Check out the Caddx Peanut when the price is the issue with the cam. Got mine in sale last week for 200$ :)
Can you take this surfing?
I'm interested how the battery/storage would work for a proper session.
Also the one button user interface might be quite annoying without an easy way to see what mode your recording in
Hello David
You didn't mention the battery life in your comparison, nor the estimated recording time of the Go 2.
@@Seminoles11 No external mic for this little guy. Think of it more like a GoPro Session👍
"...the GO 2 can go wider than the GoPro can go..." - Dr. Seuss
haha lol
That’s for sure the GoPro look! Some people love it and some people hate it. For sure pushes the yellows and blues a ton!
They leaning away from us and active sports. And go more to professional people. Will take extra weight for better quality. Post editing too.
I understand this is a paid review but there is information really useful when comparing those two cameras and it's not mentioned. GoPro can record much longer than the Insta360. The Insta360 only records for 10 or 15 minutes straight. Not all youtubers are saying this. It could be a deal breaker for some people.
Totally right, but the GO 2 actually tops out at 30mins👍
Well that would be AMAZING!!!
Thanks Man. That's super good. Thanks for the opinion. I honestly think I agree.
Dude, the Karma drone debacle was a rough one. Sorry to hear that Chris!
Thank you for the video .. but whats about the audio sound quality comparisons between the two cameras?
+1
I did audio tests in both individual videos, but they’re both impressive with no wind, and both struggle a ton with wind noise
great comparison thanks, I just shot some stuff on my GoPro hero 7 black and it wouldn't turn on once, had to take the battery out and restart it, I have had freezing issues as well. Crazy they haven't fixed these issues after several years.
8:00 I don't understand this difference. It's just cropping, you can do that with ANY video.
Or is there something I'm not getting?
How about shooting length? How long can you shoot videos for? Go 2 ten minutes out of case. Limited to 32 Gb memory and once filled you have to download. My Go 2 has overheating issues so next week it's going back.
David,
I would (and did) choose the GoPro 9.
Thanks,
bf
Damn, that’s a hell of a deal Bill! The thing is, I still love the GoPro and in my last video, I mentioned how damn good it is! BUT, I just can’t trust it to not freeze up on me, which is a real bummer. Like a Ferrari that breaks down every tenth drive
@@DavidManningvlog
Freezing up is bad, but so far not a problem for me.
So you've covered video on both, how about the audio?
Wow! Great information, great detail!
Thanks!
I like my hero 9 more because I can swap batteries quick, I also like the front screen, and I use my go pro as a second camera for other POV scenarios
Dude, I’m totally with you! I’ve always been a huge GoPro advocate. I’m just hoping their next camera will be more stable. After my last update video on it, I was bummed to see that so many people are having issues
@@DavidManningvlog I have ran into overheating problems when I shoot 4k, also I have a full ulanzi cage on it
Thanks.
Cheers,
Bruce
I m sooo tired and I m about to fall asleep and drop my phone cuz of your soothing voice😂
I’m gonna start a second channel to help put people to sleep🤣
I thought the same
Nope, that’s both cameras in their default modes.
Ok 2 questions, how water safe is the 360? And how “safe” do you feel with the magnet?? Or do you just screw in the mount from the bottom?
Hi david, are you able to use insta360 go 2 for live streaming?
Would love an updated version of this video with the gopro 10 vs the go2
My GoPro fails on a regular basis.
Does the GoTo have a built in microphone?
Great video! I was in a big hesitation but now I think that I will pick up the Insta360 for my FPV drone videos... The quality looks okay and the weight make a major difference. Thanks for the comparison!
Very interesting comparison, but not entirely fair IMO.
First, I would like you to compare battery life and memory space for travel.
Second, comparing 5K and 2.5K footage in 1080p???
I totally agree with you on portability. Great video 😀
How strong is the magnet on the Go2? I would be nervous taking it into the water (jumping off a ledge etc.)
I have both. Go2 so great to use. Great in bright day time. But not as good in dark. But on the drone the weight saving so worth it.
I use hero9 when I just know I want the best shot.
What about comparing it to insta360 action camera mod? Do you still have yours or was it a loaner when you did the review a few months back?
9:30
'Most people watch my videos in 1080p'
Me: *switches to 2160p* (and I'm watching this on my laptop LMAO!)
hhahahha the last minute about the side by side shots is the best! Also I now feel like I should sell my GoPro
Are there other non-360 action cams now that are able to change aspect ratio after the fact?
You are such a nice person. I love your smile. Insta Go 2 is nice, such a pity you can't do live streaming with it, and I wish it had better microphone and larger storage.
great comparison, what disturbed me was the orange apple band and the bracelets, purple is not ur color or maybe it is? now to q&a's
for me Iphone 12promax and Go2, best combo. Good photo and video on the phone, special angles, tight shots bla bla bla with the Go2
Amazing video! Does the Insta360 Go 2 connect with TWS earphones so I can use as a bluetooth microphone?
Not yet, but I’ve heard rumors that Bluetooth audio might come in a future firmware update. No idea when though
Such as the ability to change battery, the benefits of removable memory, the ruggedness of the GoPro etc
My big issue with the Go 2, and the reason I can't justify buying one, is the 32gb (28gb usable) internal storage.
Now we need a comparison between the Go 2 and the One X2. I still have the original One X and GoPro 8 so I'd love to see which is the better choice.
The X2 is my current favorite action camera to shoot! The workflow is obviously tougher, but the AI app stuff is even making that faster. If Insta360 could get the X2 up to exporting at 1440p, and add the ability to hook in Bluetooth audio, it would be AMAZING!
@@DavidManningvlog so it can't export at 1440p? I thought it could do that already.
Hi david. Can you use insta360 go 2 while surfing. Like mount it to your board? Thank you
I've used 3 different GoPros over the years, but the smaller Insta GO2 appeals for small size and easier POVs. They do need to fix the camera switch that gets pressed too easily! Great video comparison!
Love the energy you put into your videos!
Alright another question, if you have 2 360’s is it easy to combine in post?
First of, love the channel David... How much do you use your Insta360 One R??? Would the One R be a suitable replacement for your GoPro 9??? That would keep your vlogging/POV cameras within the same family and may save you some time editing??? Just a thought...
if you are going to be able to see any difference, you should film in the dark because it has the sensors, I myself bought a Hero 9 black and I am happy with it
Thanks for the review!
I like the whole idea of the Insta Go2 for my recording needs.
But I bought the GoPro9 when it came out..
If you can't choose, go for GO 2 first then wait for GoPro Hero 10. If it becomes better, sell the GO 2 and buy the next GoPro.
Can we also convert the horizontal video to vertical video in one X2 just like we are able to do this in GO 2?
Sure can! The ONE X2 is the best of the reframing. You can reframe anywhere in the 360 view AND change the aspect ratio. It’s bananas good!
So what is the camera in the middle that can record for 1h without heating issues like in the go2 and a low profile ?
I would go for GoPro ! Thanks for the great video! 👍🙏🏻
@@NWGR I'm right there with you. Cue the "shutup and take my money" meme LOL!
Workflow. Do you have to use your phone to look at / export footage? I never want it to be part of my workflow. #timeconsuming
Hi David,
Hope u r doing good. How is the battery life and memory comparison between these 2 looks like? Thanks !
