Listening to the new album right now. Utterly fantastic, with a lot of variety. Contains a live Zepp show on blu-ray, recorded shortly before this Whiskey show. This band has the whole world at it's feet. Much admiration.

Yeah my mom is pretty cool! Shes been to so many shows in her time but this was something totally new for her. Not only was it cool to see them in such a small venue, it was a piece of history since it was their first US show. I am glad I got to record it. I would love to see them again as well, hopefully they do a full tour. Based off what their YT page posted of the show, the recording seems like it will be really good. I show was great so the ticket price for the stream is well worth it!
@P in D² Hi, P in D! Nemophila gets along well with Gacharic Spin. Aldious has played the States before. But a better bet may be The Warning from Monterey, Mexico. The Warning and Nemophila have slightly different fan bases. Their concerts together would expand the fan base of both groups. It's a Win-Win! I'm sure that the Villareal Sisters would like to visit Japan as well!
@P in D² Hi P in D! Well, Yaah! I live in San Antonio. Before COVID hit, The Warning's first tour stop was to be San Antonio and then the Whole tour was canceled. Nemophila has a good fan base in San Antonio. Most are either retired or professional musicians. So, the average age is somewhere between 55 and 65. I'm 70. If you talk to a kid in San Antonio about Bruno Mars they can give you his life history. But, they have no idea who Nemophila is. In San Antonio, The Warning is like Bruce Springsteen in New Jersey! Nemophila and The Warning playing together in San Antonio is a NO BRAINER!
@@michihiroonodera6579 Ill go back to Japan for a visit as soon as travel opens up! I think its around 8 hrs drive from my house depending on traffic. I cannot go to the aftershock festival but at least I saw NEMOPHILA at a good venue. I like the smaller shows more than the big festivals. But the big festivals are very cool too!
@@Shreddawg NEMOPHILA, formed in 2019, has never been able to LIVE in larger venues due to COVID-19 occurring shortly after its formation. We have heard the sound of smaller venues, but would like to hear the NEMOPHILA sound in larger venues.
@@michihiroonodera6579 Thats a good point. Covid has been a difficult time for bands. I just heard on NHK there are record covid cases in Tokyo. I travel to Japan a lot (before covid) so I still keep all my NHK alerts active on my phone. A large venue would be cool as well, they deserve to play in a large venue. A lot of people in the US would probably like to see them in smaller venues once before large venues.

I totally agree. I think this show in particular will show the western world that the Japanese really know how to rock out. The raw talent that was displayed that day is certain to turn heads towards the Japanese music scene.
I was pretty lucky to get the spot that I did. Most of the upstairs was reserved. The only bad thing is that speaker lol but all in all I cant complain too much.
@@Shreddawg yeah, I know you condensed the time frames somewhat but you were good enough to keep all the solo's! 👍 the greatest test of their talents is when they play real live, and they fucking perfectly killed it! I think Hazuki was deliberately teasing me/us how good she was as well as Hara coming out of the shy closet lol

I love her rock singing voice better than the other p-metal bands out there currently... her voice is unique and edgy and yes she screams like the best of them but just her singing voice is like a true rocker.... love it... unique group
Yes, that is exactly the same for me! Evern though im not the biggest metal/power metal fan out there, I think I would probably still consider NEMOPHILA my 2nd favorite band because Mayus voice is just incredible! Her screaming is for sure top notch as well! All of the ladies of NEMOPHILA are so talented, they really are a "super band".

Is it just the room acoustics or was there an audio problem with Chucky's setup? Hazuki and Hara came in clear, but Saki's seemed to be buried in the mix. Thank you! I tried to be as respectful as possible. I wanted to post the footage but not the whole songs which is why the songs are chopped up. I wanted to share my experience with everyone while also recommending people to purchase the live stream. I will talk about this in a future video very soon. I am not sure exactly sure why it was tough to hear Saki but I have a couple of theories. One thing I can say is im sure Saki will sound better in the livestream since they can mix the audio. I hope they get a full US tour and hopefully with small venues like this. Smaller venues are the best places to see bands in my opinion. Hey! Yes, I did pick up tickets for that show! I couldnt pass up on tickets to see NEMOPHILA for $20, such insane value! Not to mention its pretty close to me. I have not been to the Echoplex before but I do know roughly where it is. Not sure how many people will be there but if you see me feel free to flag me down ^^
@@Shreddawg Hi Shreddawg! Yeah! I'll do that! I've been to California before, but not LA. I've checked out the Echoplex on google maps, and it looks like you enter through the alleyway behind the building, but I'm not sure. I'm supposed to go to the ticket office one hour before opening with my paperwork. The hotel where I'm staying looks like a duplex. So, I'll call next week to find out about check-in procedures. The irony, Nemophila is doing two 40 minute performances at SXSW in Austin, TX during the week of 13 to 18 March 2023. The music pass for SXSW is almost $700. The cheapest hotel rates in Austin that week are $460.00 @ night. I only live 86 miles from Austin. But with over 100,000 attendees, try finding a parking space.
@@Russ.Murphy I havent looked that much into it but theres usually some kind of parking whether it be paid public or private parking. Do you have to go to the box office? Live Nation gives me a mobile ticket option. I hope your hotel is nice! I am generally not a big fan of the music festivals generally there is only a couple bands I want to see and a bunch of bands I could care less about lol. $700??? That is insane lol. Wow they jack those hotel prices up too huh? Its crazy how 1 event like that is the price of a short vacation somewhere else. I think seeing NEMOPHILA in a smaller venue is something pretty special to do. In a couple years you will probably only have the chance to see them in massive arenas. I think the show will be at the echo which is a smaller venue at the echoplex which holds 350 people. ...I dont know what to say about LA. Its not all that its cracked up to be. Most of it is pretty dirty and theres a lot of crime. There is a serious homeless issue there and unfortunately, I think a lot of the people have mental health issues.

Great coverage i hope it doesn't get pulled because its the best .Saki didn't have the best of nights not having her beloved amp and cab didn't help along with other problems but its all rock and role .There going to be massive .
I tried to my best to capture what I could. If they decide to take it down that would be their decision, I cant argue with it. I will say the recording does not do the show justice. The video quality also did not come out the best but it is what it is. Also after watching the 2 songs they put up on their page, the mix they have is really good. Saki comes through a lot more on that. I purchased the stream and cant wait to watch it!
I first heard about it on instagram. Immediately bought tickets. There was a few people there with an extra ticket that went to waste. It was a great show.
@@Buzzramjet The show was sold out. A few people did have extra tickets from others not showing up. A lot of people lined up really early. It was a real laid back show/crowd. Staff were jam packing everyone up to the stage on the bottom level and would not allow any moshing. I was upstairs on the second level with my mom and tiffatron just enjoying the show and filming it. There was some technical issues for sure but those got straightened up mostly. Except Saki had a lot of issues all night. Overall it was fantastic!

Mine passed away 8 years ago, she used to go to most of my gigs including when my band played the Whiskey back in the Hair Metal days, but she liked Rock, heavy rock, metal to a degree, and I had just introduced her to Japanese girl bands and she though they were great. She like X Japan and loved Versailles, thought hide was a great musician and artist. Like Show Ya, Destrose and so many others. I think she would have loved the new ones like Band Maid and LOVEBITES and others. Treasure a mom like you have.

Nemophila livestreamed their first two songs from this gig on their TH-cam channel. Mayu started a little flat but she got going. Looked like a heck of a lot of fun. Too bad at this view you couldn't see Tamu. Darn speaker in the way.
I know! The speaker was trolling me so hard lol. I was able to get her a bit in a few songs. Really had to stretch my arms out for the shots lol. Tamu was just going off the whole night! There was a lot of adjustments in the first few songs. From what I heard Saki was having a lot of issues with her audio. At least it seemed like that to me. One point mid solo her audio level tripled lol.
This bad reminds me of this Japanese girl who was I'm a metal bad with dudes .. parts she sang in. Her beautiful voice than went all heavy metal... saw the on TV but don't know who she is. These girls are Def bad ass!!@
I hope they do a large tour and stop at many places. If they do happen to play a show within traveling distance to you, I highly recommend you traveling if possible. I would take a plane to see them again for sure! Especially if you can catch them in a small venue like this one.
Mayu still need to do some training on her english. But it will come, just look at Asami in lovebites, the difference in her english from 2020 to new live recording in 2023 is like night and day
For sure! The more they practice, the better they will get. Its pretty cool that they try so hard to speak english though. My Japanese is terrible so I understand the struggle. I cant imagine trying to speak Japanese on a big stage lol.
Comparisons between the Whiskey and Echoplex shows in L.A. (both of which I attended): (a) Mayu's growling was MUCH better at the Echoplex show (perhaps carrying a baby adversely affects this type of skill); (b) I liked the set-list better at the Whisky; (c) just "love" all of the load-bearing pillars at the Echoplex; (d) the merch line at the Echoplex was insane -- for much of the time (including during the entire show) it seemed that half the audience was standing in that line -- movement was glacial; (c) it seemed that only around 20% of the audience at the Echoplex was in the 45-and-older age group...most were in the 18-44 age group; (d) based on the merch worn by audience members at the Echoplex show, there was a pretty good crossover between Band Maid and Nemophila fans -- not so much between the fans of Nemophila and those of other Japanese all-female bands (of course, this way of conducting a "poll" could be misleading...I did hear fan conversation wherein Lovebites and Aldious were discussed; (e) despite circumstances, the members of Nemophila were fairly active on stage (although I think that they were more so at the Whisky); (f) I looked for you at the Echoplex, but couldn't find you (of course, I looked for you at the Whisky, but didn't have success there either).
Mayu was absolutely insane with her screaming at Echoplex! That was after playing 2 shows back to back before which is impressive! The whisky show, Mayu wasnt kidding when she said she was gonna kick our asses, lol. I really felt like they came out swinging at Whisky. This show was much more of a fun vibe. The merch was awful at this show for sure! I was all the way in the back because I wanted to buy some merch >.> Sorry we didnt meet up. I walked up and down the line at echoplex a few times looking for people to chat with till a little past 6pm. I thought line would be moving since doors should have been open by then >.> At that point it was just an hour in the same spot waiting. Ill try and get a full review of the show out at some point. Perhaps I can call up my mom and we can chat about it for a video.
@@Shreddawg I was going to wear a Nemophila T and a nice, warm Band Maid hoodie. I inadvertently left the hoodie at home, which left me with just the T, so I did my best impression of an icicle while standing in the cold wind-tunnel (caused by the high surrounding buildings) that blew through the line-that-never-moves. Lots of Band Maid merch being worn by people in line, but not a lot for other Japanese bands (excepting Nemophila, of course).
@@bruceveary1758 Yeah I brought my BAND-MAID zip up jacket but gave it to Tiff since her legs were cold. I still had my BAND-MAID hat and bag. It was a bit chilly when the wind blew but overall I was fine with just the TShirt. That line really never did move lol. There were for sure a lot of maidiacs there!
Good grief lost my comment, more when you put out future video on this topic. Time Lap beginning to track was pro looking intro touch dude. Everything was fantastic, did you vid/audio on particular device or phone? The acoustics was a small theater level but wired to maximum amplitude sound on impact (lol) I can see how you could feel this performance judging size and the overhead ware. Much was fab enough to feel like your there (without it pulsing you lol) Liked this and I KNOW you guys had to have got into this! Later will check out preview slot I could see they had label production busy up close. FUN!! impressive: I myself could NOT have handled that Mom...LOL!!😆cool mother, yes...
I wasnt sure how the time lapse would work out. But I thought some people might like to see some of the "iconic" areas like the Beverly hills sign and santa monica blvd all that stuff. Then I had to scramble to find a song for it lol. The go pro footage for the time lapse was like 17gb of data. I think its shot 1440p 60 frames so I rendered it down to 1080/30 for the timelapse. All the footage was killing my video editing software lol. I am glad you thought it came out ok! I tried to do a lot of stuff with this video that I have not done before. So for the recording of the show, I used my Samsung Galaxy S 21 and I have a usb-c microphone adapter for it as well. The mic was a recommendation from Vladimir. Its a small microphone (fits in the palm of your hand) but it works very well. We had that one speaker pointed RIGHT at us lol. I think it was Hazukis sound coming out so im not complaining ^^ The venue was actually a pretty cool little place. Awesome venue to get a chance to see Nemophila at, thats for sure! I dont think they will play small venues for very long. My mom had a great time! Ill have her on a video coming up soon to talk about the show! Thank you as always for the kind words!

Shreddawg, you have the coolest mom. I am glad you had a great time an I have to admit I am kind of jealous. This will be one of the few times to see them in a somewhat small venue. I hope they do a little bigger tour of states sometime soon in the future. Maybe even another Japanese act like they did in Japan. Thanks for doing this. Yeah my mom is pretty cool! Shes been to so many shows in her time but this was something totally new for her. Not only was it cool to see them in such a small venue, it was a piece of history since it was their first US show. I am glad I got to record it.
I would love to see them again as well, hopefully they do a full tour.
Based off what their YT page posted of the show, the recording seems like it will be really good. I show was great so the ticket price for the stream is well worth it!
@P in D² Hi, P in D! Nemophila gets along well with Gacharic Spin. Aldious has played the States before. But a better bet may be The Warning from Monterey, Mexico. The Warning and Nemophila have slightly different fan bases. Their concerts together would expand the fan base of both groups. It's a Win-Win! I'm sure that the Villareal Sisters would like to visit Japan as well!
@P in D² Hi P in D! Well, Yaah! I live in San Antonio. Before COVID hit, The Warning's first tour stop was to be San Antonio and then the Whole tour was canceled. Nemophila has a good fan base in San Antonio. Most are either retired or professional musicians. So, the average age is somewhere between 55 and 65. I'm 70. If you talk to a kid in San Antonio about Bruno Mars they can give you his life history. But, they have no idea who Nemophila is. In San Antonio, The Warning is like Bruce Springsteen in New Jersey! Nemophila and The Warning playing together in San Antonio is a NO BRAINER!

I think its around 8 hrs drive from my house depending on traffic. I cannot go to the aftershock festival but at least I saw NEMOPHILA at a good venue. I like the smaller shows more than the big festivals. But the big festivals are very cool too!

We have heard the sound of smaller venues, but would like to hear the NEMOPHILA sound in larger venues.

I just heard on NHK there are record covid cases in Tokyo. I travel to Japan a lot (before covid) so I still keep all my NHK alerts active on my phone.
A large venue would be cool as well, they deserve to play in a large venue.
A lot of people in the US would probably like to see them in smaller venues once before large venues.

I totally agree. I think this show in particular will show the western world that the Japanese really know how to rock out. The raw talent that was displayed that day is certain to turn heads towards the Japanese music scene.

This is a good filming nice safe distance of the whole band visible and pretty good sound as well
I was pretty lucky to get the spot that I did. Most of the upstairs was reserved. The only bad thing is that speaker lol but all in all I cant complain too much.
@@Shreddawg yeah, I know you condensed the time frames somewhat but you were good enough to keep all the solo's! 👍 the greatest test of their talents is when they play real live, and they fucking perfectly killed it! I think Hazuki was deliberately teasing me/us how good she was as well as Hara coming out of the shy closet lol

Yes, that is exactly the same for me! Evern though im not the biggest metal/power metal fan out there, I think I would probably still consider NEMOPHILA my 2nd favorite band because Mayus voice is just incredible! Her screaming is for sure top notch as well! All of the ladies of NEMOPHILA are so talented, they really are a "super band".

Shreddawg (and mom|) for the win! Appreciate this post, gives a very good feel for the show but extremely respectful to the band as well. Well done! Is it just the room acoustics or was there an audio problem with Chucky's setup? Hazuki and Hara came in clear, but Saki's seemed to be buried in the mix. Would have loved to make the show, hope they make it to the East Coast someday. Thanks again!
Thank you! I tried to be as respectful as possible. I wanted to post the footage but not the whole songs which is why the songs are chopped up. I wanted to share my experience with everyone while also recommending people to purchase the live stream.
I will talk about this in a future video very soon. I am not sure exactly sure why it was tough to hear Saki but I have a couple of theories. One thing I can say is im sure Saki will sound better in the livestream since they can mix the audio.
I hope they get a full US tour and hopefully with small venues like this. Smaller venues are the best places to see bands in my opinion. I also do not think they will be playing small venues due to them becoming massively successful!

Hey! Yes, I did pick up tickets for that show! I couldnt pass up on tickets to see NEMOPHILA for $20, such insane value! Not to mention its pretty close to me. I have not been to the Echoplex before but I do know roughly where it is.

@@Shreddawg Hi Shreddawg! Yeah! I'll do that! I've been to California before, but not LA. I've checked out the Echoplex on google maps, and it looks like you enter through the alleyway behind the building, but I'm not sure. I'm supposed to go to the ticket office one hour before opening with my paperwork. The hotel where I'm staying looks like a duplex. So, I'll call next week to find out about check-in procedures. The irony, Nemophila is doing two 40 minute performances at SXSW in Austin, TX during the week of 13 to 18 March 2023. The music pass for SXSW is almost $700. The cheapest hotel rates in Austin that week are $460.00 @ night. I only live 86 miles from Austin. But with over 100,000 attendees, try finding a parking space.
@@Russ.Murphy I havent looked that much into it but theres usually some kind of parking whether it be paid public or private parking. Do you have to go to the box office? Live Nation gives me a mobile ticket option.

I am generally not a big fan of the music festivals generally there is only a couple bands I want to see and a bunch of bands I could care less about lol. $700??? That is insane lol. Wow they jack those hotel prices up too huh?
Its crazy how 1 event like that is the price of a short vacation somewhere else.
I think seeing NEMOPHILA in a smaller venue is something pretty special to do. In a couple years you will probably only have the chance to see them in massive arenas. I think the show will be at the echo which is a smaller venue at the echoplex which holds 350 people.
...I dont know what to say about LA. Its not all that its cracked up to be. Most of it is pretty dirty and theres a lot of crime. There is a serious homeless issue there and unfortunately, I think a lot of the people have mental health issues.

Great coverage i hope it doesn't get pulled because its the best .Saki didn't have the best of nights not having her beloved amp and cab didn't help along with other problems but its all rock and role .There going to be massive .
I tried to my best to capture what I could. If they decide to take it down that would be their decision, I cant argue with it.
I will say the recording does not do the show justice. The video quality also did not come out the best but it is what it is.
Also after watching the 2 songs they put up on their page, the mix they have is really good. Saki comes through a lot more on that.
I purchased the stream and cant wait to watch it!

I first heard about it on instagram. Immediately bought tickets. There was a few people there with an extra ticket that went to waste.

@@Buzzramjet The show was sold out. A few people did have extra tickets from others not showing up. A lot of people lined up really early. It was a real laid back show/crowd. Staff were jam packing everyone up to the stage on the bottom level and would not allow any moshing.
I was upstairs on the second level with my mom and tiffatron just enjoying the show and filming it.
There was some technical issues for sure but those got straightened up mostly. Except Saki had a lot of issues all night.
Overall it was fantastic!

Mine passed away 8 years ago, she used to go to most of my gigs including when my band played the Whiskey back in the Hair Metal days, but she liked Rock, heavy rock, metal to a degree, and I had just introduced her to Japanese girl bands and she though they were great. She like X Japan and loved Versailles, thought hide was a great musician and artist. Like Show Ya, Destrose and so many others. I think she would have loved the new ones like Band Maid and LOVEBITES and others.

Nemophila livestreamed their first two songs from this gig on their TH-cam channel. Mayu started a little flat but she got going. Looked like a heck of a lot of fun. Too bad at this view you couldn't see Tamu. Darn speaker in the way.
I know! The speaker was trolling me so hard lol. I was able to get her a bit in a few songs. Really had to stretch my arms out for the shots lol. Tamu was just going off the whole night!
There was a lot of adjustments in the first few songs. From what I heard Saki was having a lot of issues with her audio.
At least it seemed like that to me. One point mid solo her audio level tripled lol.
So glad they made it to the USA. Next.... we need LOVEBITES!
This bad reminds me of this Japanese girl who was I'm a metal bad with dudes .. parts she sang in. Her beautiful voice than went all heavy metal... saw the on TV but don't know who she is. These girls are Def bad ass!!@

NEMOPHILA is pretty damn cool though. I was very lucky to be able to see them live! :)
Unfortunately I’ll have to travel cause I highly doubt they will come near me.
I hope they do a large tour and stop at many places.
If they do happen to play a show within traveling distance to you, I highly recommend you traveling if possible. I would take a plane to see them again for sure! Especially if you can catch them in a small venue like this one.

Mayu still need to do some training on her english. But it will come, just look at Asami in lovebites, the difference in her english from 2020 to new live recording in 2023 is like night and day
For sure! The more they practice, the better they will get. Its pretty cool that they try so hard to speak english though. My Japanese is terrible so I understand the struggle. I cant imagine trying to speak Japanese on a big stage lol.
Comparisons between the Whiskey and Echoplex shows in L.A. (both of which I attended): (a) Mayu's growling was MUCH better at the Echoplex show (perhaps carrying a baby adversely affects this type of skill); (b) I liked the set-list better at the Whisky; (c) just "love" all of the load-bearing pillars at the Echoplex; (d) the merch line at the Echoplex was insane -- for much of the time (including during the entire show) it seemed that half the audience was standing in that line -- movement was glacial; (c) it seemed that only around 20% of the audience at the Echoplex was in the 45-and-older age group...most were in the 18-44 age group; (d) based on the merch worn by audience members at the Echoplex show, there was a pretty good crossover between Band Maid and Nemophila fans -- not so much between the fans of Nemophila and those of other Japanese all-female bands (of course, this way of conducting a "poll" could be misleading...I did hear fan conversation wherein Lovebites and Aldious were discussed; (e) despite circumstances, the members of Nemophila were fairly active on stage (although I think that they were more so at the Whisky); (f) I looked for you at the Echoplex, but couldn't find you (of course, I looked for you at the Whisky, but didn't have success there either).
Mayu was absolutely insane with her screaming at Echoplex! That was after playing 2 shows back to back before which is impressive! The whisky show, Mayu wasnt kidding when she said she was gonna kick our asses, lol. I really felt like they came out swinging at Whisky. This show was much more of a fun vibe. The merch was awful at this show for sure! I was all the way in the back because I wanted to buy some merch >.>
Sorry we didnt meet up. I walked up and down the line at echoplex a few times looking for people to chat with till a little past 6pm. I thought line would be moving since doors should have been open by then >.> At that point it was just an hour in the same spot waiting.
Ill try and get a full review of the show out at some point. Perhaps I can call up my mom and we can chat about it for a video.
@@Shreddawg I was going to wear a Nemophila T and a nice, warm Band Maid hoodie. I inadvertently left the hoodie at home, which left me with just the T, so I did my best impression of an icicle while standing in the cold wind-tunnel (caused by the high surrounding buildings) that blew through the line-that-never-moves. Lots of Band Maid merch being worn by people in line, but not a lot for other Japanese bands (excepting Nemophila, of course).
@@bruceveary1758 Yeah I brought my BAND-MAID zip up jacket but gave it to Tiff since her legs were cold. I still had my BAND-MAID hat and bag. It was a bit chilly when the wind blew but overall I was fine with just the TShirt. That line really never did move lol. There were for sure a lot of maidiacs there!
Good grief lost my comment, more when you put out future video on this topic. Time Lap beginning to track was pro looking intro touch dude. Everything was fantastic, did you vid/audio on particular device or phone? The acoustics was a small theater level but wired to maximum amplitude sound on impact (lol) I can see how you could feel this performance judging size and the overhead ware. Much was fab enough to feel like your there (without it pulsing you lol) Liked this and I KNOW you guys had to have got into this! Later will check out preview slot I could see they had label production busy up close. FUN!!

I wasnt sure how the time lapse would work out. But I thought some people might like to see some of the "iconic" areas like the Beverly hills sign and santa monica blvd all that stuff. Then I had to scramble to find a song for it lol. The go pro footage for the time lapse was like 17gb of data. I think its shot 1440p 60 frames so I rendered it down to 1080/30 for the timelapse. All the footage was killing my video editing software lol. I am glad you thought it came out ok! I tried to do a lot of stuff with this video that I have not done before.
So for the recording of the show, I used my Samsung Galaxy S 21 and I have a usb-c microphone adapter for it as well. The mic was a recommendation from Vladimir. Its a small microphone (fits in the palm of your hand) but it works very well.
We had that one speaker pointed RIGHT at us lol. I think it was Hazukis sound coming out so im not complaining ^^
The venue was actually a pretty cool little place. Awesome venue to get a chance to see Nemophila at, thats for sure! I dont think they will play small venues for very long. My mom had a great time! Ill have her on a video coming up soon to talk about the show!
