Was taking photos of birds and squirrels around my neighborhood this past weekend with this exact set up. Extremely fun and was happy with the results. Thanks for putting up you settings with each picture. I got some great, clear photos but looking at your settings I should increase my shutter speed in the future to get more consistency. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks Ty! As a rule of thumb I try to have the shutters speed to be double of the focal length. So if im shooting at 400mm (thats 600mm on apsc), will try to have it around 1/1200 or 1/1000. I know IBIS and OSS helps, but better safe with a little noise than sorry 😀 good luck!
Hey, Thinking of buying this lens. Can you comfortably use this lens without a tripod?
I am mostly planning to take this in small hikes and walks, so bringing a tripod is a no no for me.
I love the shots that you took with the lens. 😊
Thanks a lot Gurtei!
Damn! Nice shots toms 👍👍👍
Hey cheers buddy!
you have big pockets mate :D
I told you it will fit hahah
Necesita anillo para tripode esta lente?, lo ves necesario o no?
Que tal ves esta distancia para fauna en una apsc?
Man I've never had the chance to use a telephoto like this one and I can't wait. I bet it opens up a whole new world of photography. Maybe one day haha Great video as always brother! 🙏
Try to borrow or rent it before buying. Gives a very good idea on how it can be used! And muito obrigado mano 💪
Nice photos. I think sigma lenses are the best lenses in their price range and they really deliver the quality
I think so too. They are definitely not the best in class, but price/performance ratio is unbeatable
Would this camera be good for air shows and places such as Mach loop to capture fast flying jets ?
I would suggest a6700 instead. It has smart AI features and it recognizes planes
@@TomsJurjaks okay Thankyou
Tamron 50-400 is an absolute beat! Hands down over this lens in my opinion. Cheers
Wow, that's amazing bro....I am a huge fan of telephoto lenses...beautiful clicks too...I am planning to buy my first camera...I just started saving money hope I will buy it soon..I love wildlife🖤
Awesome Ajay! I hope you get to buy your first camera soon!
@@TomsJurjaks I think soo .. thank you bro 😃
It's in my pocket! 😅
Great video mate 😊
I have big pockets hahah thanks buddy 🙏
Can you please do a video with the new Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and compare the depth of field/background blur with the A7iv & A6700 at different focal lengths.
Nice shots with the 100-400 👍🏽
Sure I can, just need to get the 70-200 lens first. Will ask Sigma, maybe they will send it to me
I have the same kit. Sony a6000 colors are hard to control in AWB but it's fun to edit the files
Hey, Thinking of buying this lens. Can you comfortably use this lens without a tripod?
I am mostly planning to take this in small hikes and walks, so bringing a tripod is a no no for me.
Little off topic for this video but what’s your thoughts on viewfinder vs no viewfinder on a camera, specifically apsc?
I think it depends on a shooter. Personally, I never use the viewfinder. Mostly because I got used to looking at the screen while shooting videos. Also I find it extremely uncomfortable to look through the viewfinder, especially because I like to shoot from various angles (like put the camera on the ground). Therefore it is essential to have a great, high-res, bright, vari-angle monitor. So for example ZV-E10 not having a viewfinder would never be an issue for me.
@@TomsJurjaks informative as always dude. Thanks 🙏
Toms, i have this lens along with a6700, IMO i feel that images are soft around 400mm @ f6.3, tried @ f8, images get sharper in center only, maybe it could be because of my style of shooting, let me know your view about the lens at f6.3 and f8 taken at focal length of 400mm
Let me try that specific setup and settings and I will get back to you
Wow that's a beast!
Small beast 🔥
im planning to get a telephoto lens for my sony a6400 bit confused with sony 70-350mm and this sigma 100-400mm which one should I pic. mostly i shoot birds and animals as a subject.
The 70-350 is also a really good option. If you ever plan on upgrading your a6400 to a full frame camera, invest in Sigma as thats a full frame lens and will work with both systems. However, you know that in foreseeable future you will stick with a6400, then I guess the Sonys lens might be a better option although I haven’t tested it for sharpness myself.
@@TomsJurjaks thankyou so much for giving me a clarity, by spending your valuable time.♥️♥️
Nice video. I have 18-300 Tamron that I like a lot. Recently tried the Tamron 150-500. The super telephoto performance was soooo disappointing plus heavy vs my own Tamron.
I use this camera for portrait and wedding photography. This old camera but awesome results
It really is!
Besides from price. Would you prefer this lens or the 60-600 sigma
Definitely 100-400 cuz of the size and weight
Really cant decide between the Sigma 100-400 and 150-600.
I mainly want to use it on hikes, to shoot landscape and some Wildlife here and there.
Not sure if 400mm is enough for Wildlife.
Excellent video nonetheless!
Thank you! Well after trying 150-600 I was very convinced of getting 100-400. I also like to hike and go places and thought that 150-600 is just too much to casually bring it just in case. If you really aim to go to a hide and shoot birds, totally worth getting the 150-600. Another alternative which I was considering, but couldnt justify the cost is to get Sony's 100-400 and use it with x2 teleconverter when you need more reach. Yes you double the aperture, but also the focal length. On the other hand, if you have a camera like Sony A7RV - it has enough megapixels to crop in.
@@TomsJurjaks First of all, thank you for the quick and detailed reply.
I think the Sigma 100-400 is the best option for my needs.
I prefer the "run and gun" shooting style and dont want to carry too much weight on longer hiking trips.
Looked into the Sony variant, but yeh, the Price for the Lens + converter is just a bit to too pricey.
You definitely helped me with my decision a lot!
Thank you Sir🤝
Currently i am on the fence with 100-400 or a 150-600. Ive just started picking up a camera (a6400) to mainly capture family and casual walks/hikes etc.
Im looking for a zoom lense that has enough reach from the back of hall to capture my kid’s school presentation and activities - ballet recital, outdoor netball etc. The distance is less than a rugby field end to end..
Maybe, some zoo/wildlife shooting here and there as well.
Apart from the cost, the size and weight of the 150-600 is the biggest downside… it didnt come with a tripod mount without a reason…
Im leaning now even more on the 100-400. What do you think?
@@EarlPantaleon personally I am very much enjoying the 100-400 especially on apsc which gives me that 150-600 focal length. I think its more versatile lens. The 150-600 on apsc will feel like “too much” both in terms of size as well as focal length. One note though, indoors you will have to crank the ISO up a LOT so best to use these lenses outdoors.
Nice 🎉
Cheers!
For APSC wouldn't the Sony 70-350mm be the obvious choice?
Yes, thats a really good option! Especially if you only want it for APSC. In my case its a “hybrid” lens and I love to use it on both systems (apsc and ff).
I would have to say the 60-600 is probably the only Sigma Zoom I would buy.
But its 2495 g (5.50 lb) 😭 I wanted to like the 150-600 but it also felt like a monster
❤❤
🙏
❤❤❤
🙌🙌🙌
wow sony a6000
always
Moment when u said 67 mm is big make me think If it is big what should I say about my 82mm filter thread on Sigma Art 24-70 haha
Jeez man haha im so used to tiny compact lenses 😅 I have one with 77mm and it feels like a giant but 82mm? 😵💫
I opened this video as i thought that the photo examples will be of a6000 but Max photos were of other models 😐
Yes, I tested this lens on 4 different cameras quite equally actually, but the most beautiful photos came from Sony A7IV and A6700 because I brought it on more impressive locations. The a6000 photos were good regarding the quality, but was quite "meh" to show the audience. I hope you still enjoyed the video because frankly, the image quality is not THAT different between the 3 APSC cameras I tested it on.
@@TomsJurjaks i hope you can add those photos as people might be opening this link to see photos taken from a6000
Looks comical
For real 😅 a6000 is so tiny, makes the 100-400 look huge but it’s actually not THAT big of a lens
Pocket 😂
BIG 😅
