I follow a number of photographers and you’re one of the very few that focuses…pun not intended…on light, on contrasts, and on abstracts/designs in nature. You shoot at all times during the day; in the morning, at noon, and in the middle of the night and don’t seem to overly emphasize “the light”, “the blue light”, or whatever metaphor is popular. I really can’t think of another photographer who is as well-rounded as you are and I thank you. Keep up the excellent work!!

Stellar post and images, Michael; perfect music for venue mood. Bird makes the image special - wouldn’t have noticed people in shot had you not pointed them out, so not a loss if cloned out. Concentrating on small elements reinforces theme of prior vid shot in SF park - nice. Brim hat OK, perhaps Aussie hat w/chin strap to manage wind would be better😁. Lesson by doing regarding compositional elements, a bonus. Were footprints or vehicle tracks an issue? Look forward to part 2.

Very pleased you made the most of the conditions rather than spreading doom and gloom about the bright weather and blue sky, just proves a truly accomplished photographer can create beautiful images using their imagination and their eyes. Great work Michael, thanks for sharing it with us. Your narrative was very cool too, inspiring stuff! The last image works very well for me and actually I think it works equally well with and without the people, I like to think the bird has the landscape to itself but the people really do add a sense of scale as you say, I honestly think most would be delighted to have captured that image, probably a once in a lifetime shot! PS that 100-400 Sigma seems to deliver great quality with the D850, a bit of a bargain I'd say! Cheers buddy.

The last shot in the video of the bird over the dune with the long, epic shadow is blissful and captures the essence of timing and a great depth of field shot. The person at the top of the dune in the distance adds not only more depth of field but authenticity as well as magic - the Snow White effect, in which an alluring woman brings around comfort of life, even in a place with the name of Death in it. If that’s not epic, then idk wtf is.
