The title for my comic/manga has been a real struggle, I'm a fan of one word titles but can't find anything about the world that really clicks for such a thing. Right now I'm calling it "powerhouse" but I worry that I'll get confused for a smaller marvel hero. This video will definitely help me bounce some solutions around so thank you
This video actually made me think about my own manga that im working on, it's named Pitch Black. It's basically about a group of all-female vigilantes who try to take on their dark and corrupt world to change it for the better. It's sorta shonen-esque with a lot of supernatural/fantasy themes. It's also more so centered around the characters and watching them battle their internal challenges as flawed people and world as well. The title was basically supposed to represent how they constantly struggle and their world feels almost hopeless, so I kinda always wondered if my title held up as a good one 🤔
Can anything non-Japanese qualify as manga? I mean if it's a western creation, it's a comic not manga even if it shares many stylistic similarities with manga. Is there a name for non-Japanese manga as in manwa from Korea? Maybe there should be a specific word for western manga.
@etinarcadiaego7424 there are things call OEL manga (original english language) which is just a manga in the sense of the formatting and setting and about japanese characters, but written in the west. Mark Crilley's work is a good example. However works like Avatar the last Airbender are considered western graphic novels because even though the style is clearly manga influenced, it is produced in a standard western format, in English, with nothing in the work evoking a Japanese setting or anything Japanese. Remember, it's okay if your work isn't a manga in the traditional sense. A lot of us artists get heavily influenced by manga in our formative years and our early art journey and we end up in a very narrow scope of art style and idea of what our work must be like, but you can make a work identical to your ideal comic and still have it be a "western comic", it's really a matter of semantics and nothing else. However if you want to format your work like a manga (read backwards) and are drawing a very traditionally Japanese "anime" art style, then sure, you can call it a manga if you want. But remember, manga literally just means comic in Japanese. Its not a special category or "type" of comic. It's just a comic made by somebody who speaks Japanese and that's the only word they can call it. You can call every manga just a "comic" and it's still correct.
I'm writing a story right now, and I'm really enjoying it, everything is looking promising and I'm starting to feel good about myself again. All these videos that you are making are great, and they inspire me more and more to keep writing. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!
I had originally called my story "Immortal", but after watching this video I thought it would be more meaningful to name it after the overarching themes rather than the power system, so now it's called "Maelstrom".
As a "not your average writer", I find creating titles to be hard when it's specifically catered to the genre and story you're trying to put out. For example, one of my titles is basically fanfiction but in a more... unique way. Zeroland, used to be simply called "Zero", is a series that emphasizes mixing reality with fiction with the main theme being the truth of humanity and the underlying themes of freedom, companionship and pre-determined fates. There are two sagas, I would like to call, for this series. The New Light saga, which I have finished from the start to the very end, and the Second Chance saga which I haven't finished because I have more projects that I want to write. For those that are curious for my other projects, here they are, starting from: Standalone Projects - Muhammad's Chronicles - A historical manga series inspired by Vinland Saga and tells a fictionalized version of Muhammad from the start of his life to his very own death alongside the themes of death, violence and peace. SYSTEM VEIL - A manga series highly inspired by God Eater and is set in a cyberpunk-ish dystopia apocalyptic setting where only one settlement exists and that is SYSTEM with the main theme being the greed of humanity. The Vampire Detective - A manga series that is inspired by Jun Mochizuki's Case Study of Vanitas and follows Havise Yamashiki, a Nasjonalite vampire detective with his personal detective agency, The Inspektoriani Case Agency, in solving a variety of cases in a supernatural Victorian era setting with the main theme being the identity of humanity. This Peaceful Life That I Know - A simple slice of life light novel series with a very dark twist that flips the simple genre on it's head, find out yourself. : ) Series Projects - The Catalyst-Process-Result Project - A series that follows three protagonists in three different fictional time-periods that are connected to each other. This series is still in progress in being layout of not only it's genre, but story, characters, terminology and lore. Rushè - An isekai manga series that instead of a bright new world, tells a dark old world where over a hundred years ago, the Distinction Event happened where humanity gains a second chance at life through death, if they have the will to keep on living and are afraid to die at that point.
@@bella_daze3092 Haha, I wish. The only problem is that... I don't think I have clarified it in my original comment so, I'll clarify it here much to everyone's dismay probably. Zeroland is not finished in the original sense, I label it as finish because the story is mostly done, the lore itself is also done, starting from the Singularity Plex all the way to the fiction-side of lore and the backstory light novels also being done in the unique sense. The only problem is that... I did not publish the stories, because I don't know how to draw, especially with projects that I explicitly labeled it's medium to be, which is manga and sometimes light novels. So, yeah. Sorry for the let down. The thing is, I can draw, it's just that the illustrations I have done are mostly copies or tracings of an existing picture (which is for school by the way, which is weird.) and for me personally, drawings are about realizing an imagination in a 2D plane which is where comics and manga come from, personally at least. So... yeah, me problem. But thanks for the interest though, if you want more questions on my projects. We can do that in Discord since it's where I'm online the most despite not being highly active much to my own disappointment. Tldr; Zeroland is not finished completely, only story-wise and many other things all because I can't properly draw in my own sense. Yeah, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
For a manga that I'm working on (which is gonna be named after the protagonist), it's gonna be a young red-haired novelist who has a love for traveling and writing interesting stories finds himself fighting these supernatural creatures known as phantoms all over the world in the dark of the night with the help of a mysterious witch named Aurora, a former partner of his father, Sullivan Galadel.
I was currently thinking about writting a comedy adventure about a retired isekai heroine, whose job is to deal with crises a normal isekai hero can't handle and your video is quite helpful. I think I will name My project "The goddess's Plan B"
The title of my series has the theme of the work within it, Light and Darkness, but since I’m a artsy dude, I’m basically titling it Shirokuroi, which means White and Black, but as a play on, I changed it to Shiro-Kurai, which is White and Darkness, as a double entendres as the series is named after the protagonist/anti-hero that has fallen into darkness and must find his way back to light.
My main fun project is called The Rebelcrew, because it is the name some guys choose when meeting up. There is this category of people the protagonist is part of which is Rebels and him and some friends reunite having those powers. Because they actively choose their name in a dancing contest, and there is a lot of hip hop culture being shown, they are a crew, and since they think it's unique they call themselves like this, not realizing it exposes who they truly are, and makes them more prone to repression led by the villains of the story. I wanted to use this name as what they once thought was unique, even though it actually wasn't that much (there are a lot of Rebels that can form crews) and could expose them, they would not shut it down just to accommodate a mass or be safe. Which is kinda one of the main themes about the project: protect your authenticity against uniformation, but alsothta being part of a side doesn't define you (I made sure my characters communicate this properly with their actions and goals) Even though that one is the most developed so far, I believe my best name I came up with for a story concept is Felixide. It comes from Felix, which is literally cat in Latin, and the ending part for killing (thing of the word "h0mic1de"). There is a slaughter of them because of a massive invasion of stray cats, but one day a massive retribution will make things even worse. Two kids, who end up being two targets of said retribution, will have to uncover the hidden truth behind the vengeful phenomenon and stop whatever is happening. I seriously hope to get this story on paper as soon as possible because I think it's more minimal and viable than the massive machine that is the previous one, which is more a fun project.
This really helpful. Right now the name of my Shonen series that I have come with are either “Legend slayer” or “slay the legends”. It's kinda like modern fantasy where the characters have to secretly deal with supernatural forces that are based from real life myths. Think Hellboy as an example
ok but 'Slay the legends' can make someone picture a really cool action series and then the other would picture a meme for the title with slay 💅👄✨ the legends-

Titles are hard to come up with but this video was useful! One story I’m working on is called “Tidal Waves” an original short story about a young 13-year old surfer who stumbles upon something he shouldn’t have. (And gets cursed because of it) how it happens is something I’m fleshing out. But it’s gonna be a fun time
I’m not writing a manga I’m writing a Webnovel but I still sometimes come to watch your Videos since they can be pretty helpful regardless. The name I came up with is “Crownbearer”. I’ll explain the title with this example it’s like “Naruto” was called “Ninja” instead of “Naruto”. In that sense it’s similar to “HunterxHunter”. But in my story Crownbearer aren’t as common as Ninjas in “Naruto” and Hunters in “HunterxHunter” there are only 8 Crownbearers and they are all major characters since the plot revolves around the Crownbearers
I need to edit the title of my manga. The title came from the beta which was just a one off one page gag, so I didn't put much thought in. The series is currently called "So I'm Kinda a God", which gives insight into what it's about and was also meant to reflect the protagonist's way of speaking and dodging the question. However, I feel this title is a bit too long and not catchy enough. It has a few more syllables than a typical best seller and it doesn't flow that nicely. Also with so many words the acronym would be SIKAG, and I think 5 is pushing it. Also it's not a title you could easily shorten, like Toilet Bound Hanako Kun becomes hanako, the distasterous life of saiki k becomes saiki k and so on. I'm going to have to brain storm and work out a better title to ensure my work gets read.
I definitely think you are on the right track though! I love the personality that comes through the title, you definitely want to keep that nonchalant aspect!!
I'm not trying to write manga because I'm not Japanese, so nothing I produce will be real manga. That being said though, this channel is full of advice that can be useful to fiction writers and creators in general and its much appreciated.
This is a good guide, I personally think that titles should be maximum of 3 words, like if you can, you should try making a title with only one word that sounds iconic like: Evangelion, Bleach, Naruto, Berserk. etc, but the ones of two words are also good, like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop. etc. and maybe 3 or maximum 4 of it has supporting words like Attack on Titan, My hero academia, Spy X Family. etc
Would you consider doing a chapter naming video. I know it's a practice that is only like half used but I feel like chapter should also be named although I struggle with naming them.
Love all y’all’s ideas fr, I was thinking of “Sole Tie” for mine because 1. The series features objects that form a soul tie with their wielder the longer they use it for, and 2. If u rearrange the letters it spells Teleiós, which is complete/perfection in Greek, and the protagonist, Jikoshi, wants to be become good at literally everything (perfection), to make himself feel complete. Feedback would be much appreciated 🙏🏾
the name I'm currently considering for my project is "Paracosmic Asterism" which fits very well with the vibe and themes of the story but since neither of those words are very common I'm it might be difficult for some people to remember or pronounce.
The name of the series im working on is Elemental F.U.R.Y, it makes sense cause my story revolves around F.U.R.Y, which is ancient elemental stones that can be combined to make a wish. It also makes sense cause the race in my story consists of mostly elementals
I think it all depends on the person. Some people see a pretty picture and give it a shot, other people see the art, read the title and go "nah I'm good." It's definitely a mix of both, but some most likely do favor one over the other. I would say just try to do both as best as you can
Light novels from what I've heard, are the result of the site that hosts some of them literally not having a description function. While western webfiction sites will have descriptions and tagging, one of the more well-known Japanese sites I have heard only has the ability for a title, meaning authors are effectively required to have Homestuck troll movie titles as their light novel titles if they want to explain what the book is actually about. Personally, when it comes to titles, I like a few. Made in Abyss is a cool pun on Made in China. Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) is wonderfully poetic. The full title of Worldend is just funny. And while I like both Casshern Sins and GakkouGurrashi! (School Live!), because they sound cool, I think Mahou Tsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus'* Bride) is my favorite in that category. (* Magus' as singular possessive is inaccurate English. The plural is Magi, and singular possessive is Magus's. Despite this, the actual English title is Magus'.) As for my own titles, _The Bluff's Damsel, Wetware, Iron Vein,_ and others are pretty decent. I like to keep my titles related to the story, rather than naming them after characters. And the first of those I got from an old (now defunct) romance title generator (I think it literally spat out The Bluff and the Damsel or something). Meanwhile the other two are -punk action stories; the first a biopunk cyberpunk hybrid with heavy emphasis on the prior; and the latter a more purist cyberpunk, albeit both have elements of body horror. I do have another longer less-romance title by the name of _50 Years a Blade: Embrace,_ which while the main title is a direct reference to the overarching concept of the world the story takes place in, the subtitle is more intended as a one-word-title for this particular narrative's more emotionally driven story.
3:36, darn Eris looking good here. Which volume this on? IIRC, Eris was gonna grow taller (or about the same height) than Rudeus at some point (based on the journal), and I always imagined her to be like a hot momma when I was reading the web novels. I was a bit disappointed when I saw some of the LN art and she still looked pretty much the same, just a bit taller and bustier.
My story's main theme revolve's around the balance between death and life, how grief can shape a person's life, the paranormal, religion against morality and the separation of church and state, (It's set in a monarchy) I can't think of any other title than 'The last Grim Reaper' bc the secondish main character is, in a way, some sort of Grim Reaper, they're one of the main, fundamental characters for the plot and their fates interwine in a complicated series of events, Is it too generic? Too YA sounding or 'Main Character Just Like Me fr' vibes?
I think it does sound a bit straightforward, but you could definitely brainstorm variations of the phrase "grim" "grim reaper" and "reaper." Usually when people say the word reaper they know what it is referring to. My biggest concern for the title would be it getting lost in the google search results so you might want to add a few more keywords or shorten it to a single word or two words maybe I like the direction you are going in because it sounds like it fits your story, so it's a good placeholder for now!
I'm currently working on my own comic series, it's called Dark & Light to represent the two main protagonists one's a hero the other's a villain. Long story short, the name Dark & Light is just a placeholder, but I couldn't find a better name for it so the placeholder name kinda stuck with me. What's your opinion?
If your story focuses on the differences of your two protagonists and you're switching perspectives constantly throughout the narrative, try naming it Gradient. It's more appealing and unique than Dark & Light while still getting the core idea across
@@onyxwolfreaper21 It's all in your story's themes and/or messages, or at least that's how I approach my titles. For example, I'm working on a project I've titled This Fleeting Feeling. It's a dating sim where the main theme revolves around time. The love interests all struggle with time marching on relentlessly in one way or another, and the protagonist has a terminal condition that will claim their life by the end of the year, which justifies an in-game deadline and gives the title context.
I do agree with the commenter above that Gradient has more of a professional sound to it. The first thing I thought when I saw your title is "that's 100% not showing up if someone googles 'dark and light." And that is something to keep in mind. It is also two very broad terms so copyrighting it would be difficult. I'm not saying the title is bad, I think it does relate to your story and is a good placeholder. I do think exploring some other ideas would be better marketability wise though. Even just combining the words like DarkLight makes it feel more unique
I'm writing a story but until now still couldn't come up with a good title for it... It's about a guy suddenly seeing his tragic future out of nowhere without any explanation and so he got traumatized by it and his daily life has became more difficult because of it, but he's tryng his best to get answers and will do anything just to avoid such a dark future. I was thinking of naming it "Re-Direct" I'm lowkey a fan of Re:Zero and I like the name cause the guy wants to change the direction of his future...
Hi TH-camr I just wanna ask you something, Today I found 2 names on the title of my manga and I don't know which one should I choose! : Crygon -Cryzton which one is better?
Working on something and I've got 3 titles. Which is the best? Soulmance Damned Beauty Your cursed love. A girl falls for a ghost but a friend helps her realise that perhaps some love stories just aren't meant to be.
I personally like the third option, Your Cursed Love. It has that romantic feel like "My Love Story" "My Dress Up Darling" etc. Soulmance doesn't feel serious, it feels like something that is meant to be a joke. Damned Beauty isn't bad, but it doesn't really hint towards the ghost aspect that much. It also has a negative feel as "damn" is typically seen as a more vulgar word
Yeah you're right, I realized afterwards that her name wasnt charlotte. That was a mistake on my part I haven't seen it in years and when thinking of examples for that part it popped into my head. I shouldve just used a basic answer like nana, naruto or gintama lol
Hello! I’d like to ask if you could make a video on how to write multiple protagonists if that’s even possible. As in like 2 or 3 main characters that all contribute to the story, while still being unique in their own ways.
That is definitely possible. A protagonist is just the "point of view" character. If you start chapter 2 through the eyes of another character then they will be the protagonist for that chapter. Usually a story will have one *main protagonist* but many series have times where they tell the story through another character's eyes
My title for the dream series im trying to make is in the works, but wgat I currently have not only somewhat explains what the goal of the mc is, but also is part of the world building and some other things thatll be revealed near the ending, and in two words, trying to see if i can figure out a title that does similar but also sounds good and memorable
My manga is called "The Victoria Investigations" because it focuses on investigating a conspiracy that's pivotal to the status quo early on, later on however the investigation changes nature as does the plot so I'm not sure if the title will make sense after the halfway point.
Sometimes I think that is okay. For example, "Rascal Does Not Dream About Bunny Girl Senpai" stops being about the bunny girl after like 4 chapters/episodes. From there the title feels less relevant. Still a great series though, but definitely something to keep in mind long term!
Hi I don’t know if this question was meant for monitor comics or not but it sounds like a story about a mafia whose don is a vampire and has been in charge for centuries so in order to select a new don a bunch of assassins are hired by the underboss so that the new leader can take his place. Oh and the assassins use the powers of other mythical creatures
Thanks for the tips and breaking down the title process. My current webcomic is titled "Sinister Vendetta" It's about heavy political drama with supernatural involvement. Do you think my title matches the theme of my story?
Hahahah, the Clannad title is funny. It's actually shortened from 'Clann as Dobhar' (Irish for 'Children of Dore' - an area of the remote parish of Gweedore in County Donegal). Because everybody in the band, past and present, are all related (Ciarán, Pól, Moya and Enya Brennan - siblings - and their uncles Pádraig and Noel Duggan), it's a fitting misunderstanding. 'Clann' is more like 'family', but it's regularly translated as 'children', likely because it's a bit of a more vague term, but it's so close that the author of Clannad isn't a million miles off.
The best titles are short and catchy, two or three words max. A.K.A. One Piece, Dragonball, Keroro Gunsou, Space Dandy, Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill. These titles are immediately recognizable and have a certain "staying power" to them.
@@MonitorComics i do like how it sounds but isnt it too simple? also theres a character in demon slayer called Rengoku which this name was not inspired from but still would it be a problem or is it fine?
So far I only have one story idea that doesn't have a title. A couple I have had to change because it was the same as another series or the new one fits better with the story. None of my ideas are anywhere close to being made because I am currently working on my portfolio for my carreer. Here is what I have so far and the genres they are. Beast Lords. Fantasy. Copy Mage: Master of Magic. Fantasy. Dragon Kings. Fantasy. Fallen: Supernatural. Hidden World. Supernatural. Killer Hero. Superhero. Magic Knights. Supernatural. Monster Containment. Apocalypse, Scifi fantasy. Monsters of Terra. Scifi, fantasy. Reborn Kings. Fantasy. Rise of the Nephilim. Supernatural, Apocalypse. Seven Sins. Supernatural. War of the Gods. Supernatural. I have a scifi story I don't have a name for yet. I am still deciding between three names. End of the war, Galactic war, or War of the stars. I'm thinking using Galactic War as the main title and using a subtitle for each book. I want this idea to have multiple books so I think that would work for this story. Like I said I am nowhere near making these right now so if anyone is interested about my stroies just ask.
Just correcting one thing, the Charlotte manga/anime name is not based on any character, but it's the name of the comet that passes every 75 years close to Earth, and gives a bunch of people powers.
I can definitely make a video about short stories. What you are describing though often has to do with anime adaptations being cancelled A lot of anime that only have 13 episodes are usually much longer in their manga or light novel form. For whatever reason, the anime was cancelled though Other times, the adaptation chooses to rush the source material. The most notable example recently is The Promised Neverland skipped like 5 volumes Haikyuu is another example of an anime adaptation that is about to skip a ton of volumes with the upcoming movie being the last entry to the series
@@MonitorComics Yeah but their are some anime like "how to not summon a demon lord" that only produce content for 13 episodes. Also appreciate you saying you can make a video on this topic because most authors are not going to have Ling running series like One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto
@@shadowslayer9988 How Not To Summon a Demon Lord currently has like 17 light novel volumes though. The first season had to have only adapted the first 3 novels, and season 2 apparently skipped a lot
@@MonitorComics OH well the point was about how some manga series only have enough content for 13 episodes or for 1 or 2 seasons since most authors will not have long running g series. But appreciate the information on "how not to summon a demon lord" 😂
Ahhh the famous "I woke up as a king after being crushed by a 1.000 pound building destroyed by the government, so I decided to take my revenge and use my new brain to form great plans leading into victory by forfeit" new series Apart form that this is like my manga class, I think I should make a list of videos to watch and take notes, then elaborate them according to my potential story
What do you think of using a name that translates well to Japanese, rather than using Katakana and keeping the english titles? Two examples for different series im working on is Poison Shroom Apocalypse, translating as Dokukinoko Mokushiroku or Dokumoku since shortening titles is popular, and Scion of Storms translating as Arashi no Seishi/Shishi.
I feel like wordplay like that can be good if you actually understand Japanese. If you are just using a translator you could run into issues because some Japanese words and phrases don't have direct translations so you might be using the wrong terms. If you have an accurate source, like someone who is native or speaks Japanese to confirm for you then it could be cool!
Currently my story is titled "Spirit Masters vs Spirit Busters" Spirit Masters are people who befriended good spirits to fight evil spirits, while Spirit Busters are people who want to kill all spirits (including the good ones). Later they both found out that Satan's body has been sliced into multiple body parts. Spirit Masters think that collecting it will revive Satan, so they have to destroy it. Spirit Busters think that collecting it will create an ultimate weapon that will instantly destroy all spirits. They then race to find it first before the others
It sounds cool! The best person who knows your story is you though so if you think it fits the story, genre, themes, character etc then it could be a good fit!
@@MonitorComics thank you , and oh man I cannot wait to drop the first chapter I hope it won’t be medicore cuz in my head I feel like this shi will get popular fast😭😭
Yes! Someone who thinks about those very long manga titles as me! Like, what's wrong with the mangakas in Japan of today? Why are they making long titles for their mangas?! It's absurd and stupid. No ones is going to remember those mangas with those long unnecesary titles. That trend has to stop!
My story kicks off with orphaned twins fleeing from their home, now a crime scene. In their escape, they bump into a woman, nicknamed by the locals, la llorona, and not a trace left of the orphaned twins. I don't want to give too much info, but I'm going to name this "elephants never forget". My reasoning is because my story is fistful of trauma and revenge.

The first part is gonna have 4 arcs after that the second part will have the conflict or war arc you know how long does a conflict or war take very long so the second part will only focus on that conflict event and after the arc ends it will be end of first saga and 3rd part a new saga will begin with new villians and new characters and new revelations. The 3rd part will have 4 arcs. Then the final part will have only one arc but it will be second conflict or war yes that will be final climax of the arc.
The title for my comic/manga has been a real struggle, I'm a fan of one word titles but can't find anything about the world that really clicks for such a thing. Right now I'm calling it "powerhouse" but I worry that I'll get confused for a smaller marvel hero. This video will definitely help me bounce some solutions around so thank you
Really glad to hear this video has been helpful! Best of luck coming up with the right title!
Go with something like "Jacked" bonus points if your main character is called Jack
@@etinarcadiaego7424 yes it can its manga if its formatted like a manga
Cool stuff! Keep it up!
I'm really glad to hear that!! Best of luck with your project!
I had originally called my story "Immortal", but after watching this video I thought it would be more meaningful to name it after the overarching themes rather than the power system, so now it's called "Maelstrom".
That's a strong name
For those that are curious for my other projects, here they are, starting from:
Standalone Projects
-
Muhammad's Chronicles - A historical manga series inspired by Vinland Saga and tells a fictionalized version of Muhammad from the start of his life to his very own death alongside the themes of death, violence and peace.
Series Projects
-
The Catalyst-Process-Result Project - A series that follows three protagonists in three different fictional time-periods that are connected to each other.
Where can I read these 0-0 I wanna read Em. Especially Zeroland

@@cr7hd162bro can you tell me how my book title is "flame Red" is the title of my novel.
Sounds awesome! Thank you for telling us a bit about it! It is pretty rare for stories to feature novelists, so that would be an interesting twist!

Of course!
3:10 Land of the Lustrous is my favorite series of all time lol
Sameee
Which is kinda one of the main themes about the project: protect your authenticity against uniformation, but alsothta being part of a side doesn't define you (I made sure my characters communicate this properly with their actions and goals)
Even though that one is the most developed so far, I believe my best name I came up with for a story concept is Felixide.

Sounds cool! Crownbearer has a nice ring to it!
Thanks 😊
I definitely can! It would mostly be just general advice and common patterns authors use because at the end of the day every story is different
@@MonitorComics That's more than enough it'd be a great help
My favorite manga titles are Dragon Ball, Mob Psycho 100, One Punch Man, Dr.Stone, Bleach, and Keijo.
There's really a manga guide to microprocessors? Holy shit!
How often do people look at the name and how often is the coverart the more captivating part?
I think it all depends on the person. Some people see a pretty picture and give it a shot, other people see the art, read the title and go "nah I'm good." It's definitely a mix of both, but some most likely do favor one over the other. I would say just try to do both as best as you can
Thank you so much for all the pro advices, they truly worth gold, and thank you for all the hard work
Yeah of course! Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Despite this, the actual English title is Magus'.)
As for my own titles, _The Bluff's Damsel, Wetware, Iron Vein,_ and others are pretty decent.
For my Manga I wanted to call it Origin Black but that was too long for Japanese writing so I changed it to Origon
My biggest concern for the title would be it getting lost in the google search results so you might want to add a few more keywords or shorten it to a single word or two words maybe
I like the direction you are going in because it sounds like it fits your story, so it's a good placeholder for now!
@@MonitorComics Thanky!
@@kakugowaii5854 Where can I get a brain like yours?? Cuz that's freaking genius!!
@@kakugowaii5854 Damn, every date counts I guess XD
I do agree with the commenter above that Gradient has more of a professional sound to it. The first thing I thought when I saw your title is "that's 100% not showing up if someone googles 'dark and light." And that is something to keep in mind. It is also two very broad terms so copyrighting it would be difficult. I'm not saying the title is bad, I think it does relate to your story and is a good placeholder. I do think exploring some other ideas would be better marketability wise though. Even just combining the words like DarkLight makes it feel more unique

Really glad to hear that!!
If I tell you a title like "Mafia Maleficarum", what do you expect it to be about?
Hi
I don’t know if this question was meant for monitor comics or not but it sounds like a story about a mafia whose don is a vampire and has been in charge for centuries so in order to select a new don a bunch of assassins are hired by the underboss so that the new leader can take his place.
Oh and the assassins use the powers of other mythical creatures
Thanks for the tips and breaking down the title process. My current webcomic is titled "Sinister Vendetta" It's about heavy political drama with supernatural involvement. Do you think my title matches the theme of my story?
I think so! I like it!
For my manga title which is the best can u choose is Fist Fighter,Lengend of Fist and Fist Legend cuz my main character is martial art master
I like alliteration so Fist Fighter sounds the best in my opinion!
Thank you for the extra context! That is actually really interesting!

Copy Mage: Master of Magic. Fantasy.
Dragon Kings. Fantasy.
Fallen: Supernatural.
Hidden World. Supernatural.
Killer Hero. Superhero.
Magic Knights. Supernatural.
Monster Containment. Apocalypse, Scifi fantasy.
Monsters of Terra. Scifi, fantasy.
Reborn Kings. Fantasy.
Rise of the Nephilim. Supernatural, Apocalypse.
Seven Sins. Supernatural.
War of the Gods. Supernatural.
I have a scifi story I don't have a name for yet. I am still deciding between three names. End of the war, Galactic war, or War of the stars. What about a video on how to make a short running series you know like those mangas that have enough chapters for 13 episodes or 2 seasons.
I can definitely make a video about short stories. What you are describing though often has to do with anime adaptations being cancelled
A lot of anime that only have 13 episodes are usually much longer in their manga or light novel form. For whatever reason, the anime was cancelled though
Other times, the adaptation chooses to rush the source material. The most notable example recently is The Promised Neverland skipped like 5 volumes
Haikyuu is another example of an anime adaptation that is about to skip a ton of volumes with the upcoming movie being the last entry to the series
@@MonitorComics Yeah but their are some anime like "how to not summon a demon lord" that only produce content for 13 episodes. Also appreciate you saying you can make a video on this topic because most authors are not going to have Ling running series like One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto

Currently my story is titled "Spirit Masters vs Spirit Busters"
Spirit Masters are people who befriended good spirits to fight evil spirits, while Spirit Busters are people who want to kill all spirits (including the good ones).
Sounds cool!
Yiu can call it chhach(buttermilk) and it's gonna work
And there was “Naruto”.

Is overtaker a good name ? It’s a mix of chainsaw man and jojo and it’s a revenge story
It sounds cool! The best person who knows your story is you though so if you think it fits the story, genre, themes, character etc then it could be a good fit!

I realized it was a series I found during my last vacation in Spain, but I didn't understand the title because it was in Spanish
The best manga that happened to have a long-winded title was KochiKame, all the way back in 1976.

My series final prophecy
Sounds cool!!
Is it ok if the title is simple?
Yes
Sometimes simple is best!
I hate the super long titles. I can never remember what I'm looking for.
SAME
Yes! Someone who thinks about those very long manga titles as me!
Like, what's wrong with the mangakas in Japan of today? Why are they making long titles for their mangas?! It's absurd and stupid. No ones is going to remember those mangas with those long unnecesary titles. That trend has to stop!
No idea, it feels like every season they try to top the last one with an even more obnoxious title that explains the entire plot
My story is sooooo cool
Actually he called bleach, bleach because when shinigamis are killing hollows theyre like bleaching there souls for them to go to the soul society

After this long explanation on what is a good book title, I think my story's title is just fine.
it's always good to have that extra validation!
charlotte aint a manga and neither is it named after the main character
Manga adaptation came after the anime. You are correct about the second part though I did forget the white hair girl's name wasn't the title
I'll break everything you said with one title......
Jojolion
People who adapt Kamen rider into manga:Yeah, i just gonna name it Kamen rider xx
TRUE LOL
"... and Charlotte" ... "...titled at their main characters" hahahhaha. Yeah. Her name is definitely Charlotte.
Happy Sugar Life..............................
