      @@LucyLumen Night photography is fun. What I love about Cinestill 800T is there are no reciprocity issues (if the meter calls for 9 secs at F16, that's what you give it). If you want to do this on the cheap and you can get Cinestill chemistry in Australia, and you get the ECN2 kit, Kodak Vision 500T motion picture stock is the exact same film as Cinestill 800T minus the remjet layer. If you feel comfortable with home processing.

      @@BillSmith1 I’ve only developed once at home a long time ago with a friend in a bathroom of my share house. It was fun but nerve racking. I want to try again for sure but my partner and I have a 5 month old baby so we are very busy all the time with him haha! I want to try the Kodak 500T!

      @BillSmith1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LucyLumen You have your hands full with a five month old., it's understandable you want to use a lab for convienence for the next little while. Vision 500T and Cinestill 800T are the same stuff. If you are planning to home process with the Vision stock, read up on how to get rid of the REM jet. I know a few phtotographers who shoot motion picture stock for variety and the cinematic look. Depends how much of a mad scientist you want to be.

    My iso on this camera only goes up to 400 and I have 800 cinestill. What would you recommend for indoor low light photography? Would you push/pull film and use flash? Thank you for teaching me so much about this amazing camera

    • @LucyLumen
      @LucyLumen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sydney, you would be totally fine to shoot 800T at 400 it will just over expose one stop but that won't be a problem with cinema film. You could pull it a stop but I don't think it's necessary. You'll definitely want to use the flash with the L35AF it's in my opinion the best characteristic of that camera. If you're not using the flash at ISO400 in low light you might find the camera will run a slow shutter speed and you could end up with blurry images as well. It's a bit hard to know for sure what is happening in that regard with point and shoot cameras and there's always an element of guessing. Definitely shoot it at 400 and use the flash you should be more than fine with that especially if the subjects aren't too far away.

      @@LucyLumen Ahh thank you so much Lucy!!! I was so inspired by your love for the Nikon l35af that I purchased one as my first ever film camera. I even told my husband we might need to get a few so we never run out as well haha. It is a spectacular camera! I plan to use it for a night event at the end of September. Since I’m relatively new to film and this camera I was wondering if I could ask your advice on one other question: My little Nikon buddy is pretty picky on when he decides he wants the flash to work. I would say 1 out of 3 pictures work with flash which is a bummer. I completely understand that this is an older camera and these things can happen. When you shoot in low lighting do you ever have these issues or other tips on how to get those indoor amazing night photos?

  • @nelsonm.5044
    @nelsonm.5044 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I shot only one roll of Cinestill 800 for a try and I did not like the final product of my images. It does have a nice effect with the bright luminescent light at night but I find that to be redundant for subjects and if you want to take photos or something else it is an expensive film, you can get close results with cheaper film for those other than an bright light subjects

      Hey 👋🏻 congrats on purchasing an AMAZING camera! Honestly it’s so good! Ummmm I just hold down the flash to stop it from coming up if I don’t want it. The flash looks super cool mostly though so I just let the camera do it’s own thing. Any low or lower light situation and indoors it will most likely automatically go off.

    The Cinestill 800t ist expensive and overrated. Almost everyone shoots this film and it looks all the same on the different channels. No surprise, no challenge, no fun. More of the same, bores the eyes after seeing 10 videos.
    Simplicity instead of diversity of lights. Cinestill 800T nowadays is in fashion until it is not any more. Than the next "filmwonder" takes place to pull the money out of your pocket.

    • @LucyLumen
      @LucyLumen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it is expansive and lots of hype around this film 🎞 it is good to try things for yourself though and I do like the look it gives. Blade runner is one of my favourite movies and that has a very cinestill/cyberpunk look so I felt like I got that in a few of the car park shots at the end and that makes me happy 😃👍🏻
      But yes it’s a trend for sure and it’s not a film I would shoot very often I don’t think.
