    Love what you're doing I just bought mines. You should do a installation video of motor, diff, aluminum parts etc. I've been trying to find vids like that. Thank you for your vids

      Lord Lavi that’s the plan man! So I have a few videos up regarding installs for minor parts, & I will put a link to my video regarding the front one way differential. In that video I pretty much tear down the complete front end & I try to show as much as possible on camera. m.th-cam.com/video/U5vF882fyY0/w-d-xo.html
      Regarding aluminum parts, I have a video about the rear end knuckles + toe bar, a videos on swing arms, and I just released a video today about the front tie bar. I have purchased all the EA Racing aluminum parts for the front end, so stay tuned and I will cover all of those. I have a quick video up regarding the Eagle Racing parts of you want a preview of what I have. Here is the link to that video: m.th-cam.com/video/dEHlXOapIlo/w-d-xo.html
      If you really want to see how to uninstall & reinstall the motor I could make a video, but it’s a super straight forward process. Let me know if you want to see it and I’ll toss it on my schedule.

      Lord Lavi HA! I read your comment so quickly I didn’t fully take what you said in, thanks man!! This is exactly why I created the channel, I was researching my build and it’s tough to find easily accessible information regarding the MA-020 specifically. Next week I’m releasing a video regarding parts comparability for the MA-020, hopefully my videos help! Please feel free to ask questions in the comments.

      @Kareem Johnson nice man! yeah that's the way to go in my opinion, but keep in mind once you install a one way you cant do some of the fancy tricks like reverse drifting or 360 reverse entries. Also, I would recommend looking to a spring kit (for the front & rear) as well as some DS Racing tires. In my experience springs have the biggest impact on the "feel" of the car & its hyper critical to match your drift tires to the surface your drifting on, it will make a night & day difference.

      Autoscales are the bodies, they cost about $50 brand new & come in a little clear plastic display box. They also come with the appropriate size rims so you can use them on a chassis. The tires are just for display though, you will need to replace them if you want to use the rims.

    Nice vid great info. I've never used a front one way diff.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Garage Mini RC Racing UK personally I love the front one way, I consider the solid rear axle & front one way to be the essential drift upgrade. The rear axle makes the car much more predictable while holding the drift, & the one way allows for an e-brake effect so you can really whip the car tight.
      But I’m not sure how you would like the one way since you race more then drift, but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

    • @GarageMiniRCUK
      @GarageMiniRCUK 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BMR3 I've got a front one way somewhere, I might try that set up, one of our racers swears by locked rear diff.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Garage Mini RC Racing UK I swear by the locked rear differential! It makes the car so much more predictable since the power to both tiers remains constant. In my experience it makes the car much less squirrely & less likely to loop.
      But my experience is on smooth surfaces while trying to drift, so take it with a grain of salt.

    • @GarageMiniRCUK
      @GarageMiniRCUK 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I've set it up in my self modded miniz awd. Front one way rear fixed. Love the way car handled. I think for the type of racing we do(drift /race hybrid) this will give predictable cornering /drifting and then straight-line traction. Can't wait to rest on track. Thanks.

      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Garage Mini RC UK that would be your 020 right? Let me know what you think of the rear diff. change once you have had time to test it on the track, I’m interested to hear your thoughts.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man,
      nobody produces a zero degree toe bar, the closest you can get is 0.5 degrees & that’s what I have. It works fine, I believe I elaborate on this in future build update videos. Here is a link to a video where I build my “ultimate” king pin style rear end (stock AWD rear end) if you want to take a look: th-cam.com/video/tn86lnF-lzI/w-d-xo.html
      I have upgraded my 020 rear end to DWS, it’s noticeable smoother then the kingpin style. But that said, my ma-030Evo build is still using a king pin style rear end.
      Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions!

  • @marsbase3729
    @marsbase3729 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome info. I was just wondering, if you use something like Elmer's glue, to lock the rear diff, you could soak it in warm water to remove the glue if you need it for a different set up, where as with super glue, it's pretty much a solid axle from then on.
    I might be wrong, but I think it would be strong enough when dry, without being permanent. Of course driving through puddles might start unlocking it, lol

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey bro, thank you for the support & kind words!
      To answer your question, yes you can use anything you like you like to lock the differential. As you said, there is no going back with superglue or epoxys, but if you want a less permanent or removable option you can always pack the gears with cotton from que tips or rip up some cotton balls.
      The whole goal is to make it so the gears can’t spin & cotton works perfectly for a removable option.

    Another idea I saw a few months back. By changing the rear diff gear ratio having a slightly faster rear axle would enable longer slides. This mod requires space in the rear axle diff housing, since you would mount a bigger rear diff pinion gear. I wonder if you can also replace the rear differential gear, especially on the solid axle where the gear is a seperate part, this gear should have less teeth. Any experience with this? (I'm new into drifting... just reading and learning; or trying at least :-) ).

      Currently there are no “off the shelf” options, since M’s racing products are always sold out.
      If your open to the idea of DIY modification, you can build a set up just like you described. Search for “countersteer RC drift” & start watching.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sindbad Sailor when you say it’s over steering too much, do you mean the car is spinning out? If so, you may want to think about locking the rear differential or buying a solid rear axle. The stock ma-020 comes with an open differential that allows power to be transferred to the wheel with the least grip/resistance. This causes the car to spin out & can make drifting less predictable.
      A locked differential will make it so the power remains consistent to both tiers & you have a more predictable drift line. You can modify your stock differential to a locked differential by glueing the gears together for free. I made a video if you would like to take a look: th-cam.com/video/-4VGCOyR7vU/w-d-xo.html

    How do you hit the brakes on these while drifting?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure I know what you mean, but I think your referring to the front one way differential. You need to hit the brakes so the back wheels will lock up, but a front one way differential will let the front wheels spin freely. This creates an e-brake effect that helps break the car loose for drifting.
      It’s not really hitting the breaks, just a light tap to help get the rear end unsettle & ready to break lose.

    • @callum4035
      @callum4035 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      BMR 3 ok, what is it you tap to unsettle the rear?

    Does it matter if I get the ma 20 vs ma20s?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ma-020 is better, it utilizes the FHSS frequency which is more reliable & has faster electronics. The ma-020s is the older version with worse electronics

      @@BMR3 basically, I'm interested in the AE86 body. I see one by Kyosho MA-020N #MZP423W. If I get the Kyosho mini-z Nissan skyline kit (32616S) would I be able to simply mount that body onto the chasis that comes with the skyline? It says it's a MA-020 AWD. I'm not sure if the "N" in the ae86 makes a difference. In other words, would a MA-020N fit on a MA-020.
      Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm super new to mini-z haha

      I N F I N I T I V no worries it’s not a silly question. I believe the AE86 has a 90mm wheel base & the skyline is 94mm. You can use both bodies on the same chassis but you will need to adjust the rear mount & front clip when swapping. You would need to swap the front clip regardless, but you need to adjust the rear end when changing the wheel base.

      @@BMR3 and what do you mean by adjusting the rear/front clip? Thank you!

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I N F I N I T I V There are two sets of screw holes used to mount the rear end, by changing the screw holes you can adjust the rear end length & overall wheel base.
      I will try to film a video today on this today, I have a wide verity of bodies so I can use visual aids.
