@Erics adventures that’s kind of dumb I mean it’s his deer that got poached and his property that was trespassed on he should at least get some of the money, especially for the trophy sized deer fine, like for not wearing orange or if the poacher hunting without license that money he shouldn’t get but the other stuff he should

Shout out to the neighbor and neighbors like this. If you are a landowner and don't let anyone hunt, this is the kind of stuff you never know about. I've got permission by explaining this exact thing before. It's well worth having someone out on foot that you trust and that will respect your property, to keep an eye on things you otherwise would maybe never know about

You never know who you might run into while hunting. Back in 1994 my Uncle was hunting in Altoona Pa. on state gamelands. He was hunting the edge of a field at the wood line. Eventually he got a chance at a buck. Nothing crazy, just an average rack. He shot it, and it dropped when hit. By the time he climbed down and started walking to his deer he see’s another hunter walking towards him yelling “ what are you doing with my deer” The guy was hostile from the start. He insisted that he shot the deer and it was his. After a little protesting my uncle just gave up and let him take the deer. To him it was not worth getting shot, or having to shoot someone else. There are some lunatics out there with guns that probably shouldn’t even be allowed to have them.

    • @Legion-xq8eo
      @Legion-xq8eo ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah I agree. It’s good if the fine actually goes into game conservation and paying game wardens but if it just blindly goes to the state for them to use anywhere I’m not cool with that either. I think half should go to fish and game and half should go to the land owner as it’s his meat and time and money put into land management that helped produce that deer!! That would be fair I think, I just hope if it all goes to the state it goes to fish and game and not the politicians or stupid projects they decide.

@FLAIR absolutely happy to see that your neighbors work together with you, its always nice having like a neighborhood watch especially for poachers and other people causing mischief/damage.
A suggestion would be put a hidden camers at that spot, knowing this is where the guy goes. Also if this is the second time, I would do the same with the area the doe was shot and limping away. Atleast until you can bush up those areas. May also help you find "the freak" depending on the angle you choose. And keep an eye out incase this jerk decides to retaliate for being turned in.
Im glad Chris was at the right place at the right time. Im sorry that happened but Im glad the meat will help benefit people that need it and wont spoil. Im seriously wondering if that deer was the one you guys let go last hunting video so it could grow some, the points and antlers kinda look close, Im going to go back and watch. I would put that guy and his truck and plate on blast, to everyone in your town, or atleast your area.
He should be charged with the following:
    Shooting from a roadway
    Poaching
Did he have a valid hunting license?
Did he pay for the season?
Did he have his habitat stamp?
Did he hunt with a legal firearm?
Did he have a buck tag?
    Cruelty to animals
Is he legally allowed to even own or carry a gun?
    Does he have a record?
Loading or carrying a weapon on a highway
    Not wearing orange
    Tresspassing
Hunting on your property without permission
    Harvesting a trophy buck
Failure to register/check station/telecheck his buck he shot
Failure to provide a serial number and security code on the permit.
He also couldve used OnX or the Public Access Atlas to find public land. There is NO excuse for what he did.
Id also put a restraining order on him against you, your family and your property; being this is something that was premeditated with the tp bs, and he had been circling many times. I also hope they take his drivers license and vehicle, along with all his guns, scopes, ammo.
It prolly was him with the doe and unless they got the doe and did a balistics there would be no way to prove it. He did however shoot this deer in the neck on purpose.
You need to get all Chris's footage and yours and blow it up and make a video, which im sure you will as this all unfolds. What a shame. I truly hope he serves JAIL if not PRISON time for this, especially being hes done this before, atleast with this strategy.
They should be able to get him on premeditated poaching, that in itself should get the major fines and jail. Im truly glad Chris was there, and you were able to get there so quick. Hoping this doesnt happen again, but seriously Id put up cameras in the gaps. I know it sounds stupid if you cant get plates but if you can get them getting on your property atleast they can tresspass them and maybe have a picture of the people doing it. Also you never know what people like this will do after theyve been turned in, always better to be safe then sorry.
Wishing you all the best, if I can think of any other ideas or if my brother has any I will pass them along. Glad to hear the meat is going to hunters for the hungry.
You may want to look at a case pertaining to Jacob Hueftle, after the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nebraska 2020.
Wishing you guys all the best finding the freak. Stay safe, stay orange and find a great one.

If you want to move the cedars and keep them living, and replant them at the fence line, the rule of thumb is dig around the trunk 8X the circumference of the base of the trunk. This will leave you a root ball that will allow the tree to be replanted. In other words, measure out from the base 8X the circumference and start digging from that point out, deep enough to pull the tree using the excavator, then move it to a pre-dug hole at the fence line, drop it in and fill in the hole. The tree should live.

Justice getting served, makes me proud. I've been hunting since I was 8 or 9 years old, sitting on a milk crate next to my father or uncle and watching them until I was old enough to legally hunt with a bow or gun. I'm in my 30s now. This shit boils my blood like nothing else. Because if you're raised in a hunting family and you're raised properly, raised to respect the law, respect the animals, and believe in conservation, it just enrages you anytime you encounter someone like this that obviously doesn't give a damn.
I don't own my own land, but I've had permission to hunt several different farms that were owned by friends or family, and I've had a few run-ins with people trespassing and harvesting game illegally on land they don't have permission to hunt on. It's always a huge ordeal and it's never a good feeling when you have to confront someone for trespassing during the season, knowing they have a weapon on them, total stranger, no idea how they'll react. I've had a couple of nerve wracking encounters, thankfully just a couple.
Keep us updated. Hope the bastard goes down hard. As far as I'm concerned, if you get caught doing this sort of shit even once, your licensing privileges should be revoked PERMANENTLY. Not that they followed the law in the first place, but hopefully it inconveniences them further. Beyond that, massive fines and possible jail sentences. Don't harvest game illegally and don't trespass, show some respect for one of our oldest traditions in America.

One of my favorite poacher busted moments was on North Woods Law. A kid was busted and it turns out he was in college to be a game warden.

So if its a 135" deer, youre paying $140,000 in fines. More states need to do that.

Yup, I don't get permission from private land owners so I just hunt public land. It's better than nothing and there are deer out there, just not as easy with so much land to cover and so many places a deer can hide. As much as I would like to get a deer at times, poaching has never been an idea I entertained for more than a second as it's wrong, not fair to the animal or the land owner if it's private land. I will say this though, anytime I shot a deer on public land and it ran on private property, I've always got the permission from the land owner with no issues and often times they help me track it and load it. Only once did I have a farmer that questioned me and wanted to see where I shot it and then track it to where it went on his property, only later to find out he had issues with poachers.

We caught a poacher on public land years ago during archery season. My brother heard a gun shot, then a deer groaning. He snuck up and saw a guy with a shotgun under a tree stand. My bro went back to camp and told us. I encouraged him to call the DNR. The CO came out and we took him to the spot. He gathered a spent shotgun shell and the heart which fell out of the deer when the guy was dragging it. While we were out there with the CO, the dude walked down the 2-track thinking we were gone. No camo and shotgun in hand. My bro recognized him as he had talked to him on a previous day. He got arrested. Funny thing is that he shot the deer under a tree stand that had his name on it. Not too bright of a guy. We were happy he got busted.
