It is so cool that model railroading has always been a family affair, the closest I ever came to that was my dad buying me my first set when I was 4 and having a life long love of trains ever since, cherish every moment you have with your dad because once they are gone it really leaves a void in your life regardless if they were involved in your hobby or not R.I.P. to my dad 4/27/19

This is what model trains are all about. I have memories as a kid putting together our track every Christmas. I built a 2 car garage set for my boys when they were small. We took it down years ago but we had a lot of good memories.

Chris, this was definitely something special and I was immersed in your father’s layout. I think you could have went on for hours and I would have never lost attention trying to see every detail. I have bought Gargraves track for my new layout and after seeing your dad’s layout, I think I made the right decision.
There’s so much in his 16x9 layout that made me smile and the fact that I am setting up my new layout to be about 11x21, I will definitely be able to fit a lot more then what I thought inside those city limits.
Thank you for this amazing look at your dad’s layout, I have been looking forward to this one for a long time. I will add that you have not aged a bit. I took a social media break over the past week to focus on my mom for Mother’s Day, so I am late to this party, but isn’t it something special...indeed.

Another incredible video Chris!!! It's funny that your Dad is not a 'youtuber' so much as you. As old fashioned as my Dad was, he'd be right at home in front of the camera. I know this because one year, an antique show came down from New York City to do an hour long show featuring my father's collection. I could not believe how at home he was in front of the camera. My mother on the other hand had that wild animal look as she was extremely nervous. I was somewhere in between, a bit nervous but could still function. - LOL You're a natural in front of the camera, you even look a bit like a young Jim Carrey. This video is a great tribute to your parents and your memories of childhood, I believe this is what our hobby is all about - family. Keep up the great work!!

Hi Edward, the train car is an older Lionel car. I need to locate the box to get the part number. The tubular track on the elevated line is intentional. Dad wanted to blend the classic track feel with the rest of the layout. Plus he had a bunch of tubular track that would have ended up in storage. Pictures or not, these are special memories for sure. Chris. I watched your video with r’s trains tonight. You mentioned your dads/your first train was a Marx train. I’m curious? Is that train still in the family? Also which engine/set was it? I started out with Marx trains myself. Every time I see a Marx train I’m a kid again.

Thanks for watching Fulvio! My layout is 27'x12'. 15'x10' is a nice space for a layout. My layout was on my carpet for several years before I built the table and I had just as much fun with it then as I do now. Enjoy and thanks again!

@@RBPTrains thanks so much for the message back
Very cool layout and nice dimensions to have on yours
.. The fun is always in creating things which is always gonna happen with model trains on the floor or on the table very true statement Indeed..
its very creative so it's nice to have some space to have somebody different types of things and of course one thing I like the idea of having the ability to interchange puts different accessories at a different time to create a different scene in the same physical space part of the layout...
. I grew up with it my father love trains and so it was passed on to me and the other siblings in the family even my mother got into it from his influence lol... Look for to seeing more videos...
      Curious
Do you have any Golden Gate Depot
      or 3rd rail locomotives
Really great stuff definitely expensive but supervalu I have the 1938 Santa Fe super chief set And my father got the original Mercury steam engine Pacific with the 4 car original set...
      ...
It would be neat if some company could make the 1964 version of the shinkansen Japanese high speed train I haven't her model giving us a gift for music go and its would be one of the more interesting looking trains to have especially because you could have English and Japanese announcements I believe that's prototypical in Japan... Do you think that's something that might tickle the fancy of O scale train modellers in America... Potentially?
