    I am originally from northern NM. We had wonderful sunsets there. Now living in northeast OK where we also have some great sunsets and sunrises in the autumn months. Where are you located in this video?

    Should I go for Sony a6400 or cannon 80d for about equal amounts of video and photography. I will be filming if we go on trips, or plane spotting, and I will be taking photos of planes, nature and cars, animals and portraits and sunsets

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Idk, I've never used the Sony, though I've heard good things about it.

    My question would be how to focus on the sky if I just can't focus because my camera doesn't understand where to focus should i find target nearest the sky and focus on him or I should go manual but then I can't understand if I'm focused because focus peaking also don't work in this situation

  • @flipinfin

    great video educational and easy to follow along. Do you underexpose when taking pics of the sunset?

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man, I'm glad it helped! If I'm not exposure bracketing, then I usually expose for the highlights, which will likely silhouette everything else.

  • @colinw8237
    @colinw8237 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, would you mind sharing what white balance you use for sunsets?

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's for stills, I usually leave it in auto WB, and then I'll go change it in post, because I don't always know what look or mood I'm going for until I start editing. If it's for timelapses then I usually set it to manual, but it just depends on what the scene looks like and what mood I want.

    Is a wide angle 35 mm prime lens suitable for a sunset shot? Also should I use a filter? I’m using a Nikon d3500

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That all definitely depends on the situation. It just depends on your composition and how much you want in the shot. Filters are also very light dependant. Most people would use a square filter with a grad nd or something like that to help balance the exposure of the scene, or just exposure bracket and blend them in post if don't want the ground or subjects to be silhouetted. You would only be using round filters like nds if you want to slow the shutter speed or a cp to reduce glare of water or shiny surfaces.
