Many people have commented that Phuket town and Penang look very similar. This is because apart from the two being sister cities, they are also historically linked. Many Chinese businessman from Penang went to do business in Phuket about 200 - 300 years ago. They built many of the shops in Phuket town and hence the similar architectural styles between the two.

Historically, Southern Thailand up to Songkla used to be part of Malaysia during the British Colonial time until it was handed over to the Kingdom of Thailand by the British in a peace treaty…That’s why you see some british colonial buildings in parts of Southern Thailand like Phuket and Satun, and also the cuisines.
Phuket's old town has similar architecture with penang because some mining tychoons from Penang and labourers from China went there in 1800s to explore tin mining and started rubber plantation there. Otherwise Phuket was a fishing village, and not part of Malay as it is much further up from Pattani.
northern malaya used to be thailand before the british came.
So is Penang is the real life Disneyland or Vegas??? All the world in walking distance? The real thing. Just amazing. Can't wait to go.

They have been visit much of Kl & langkawi , this is just their conclusion opinion. Different people have different thought. Nevertheless penang or kl , both are beautiful
Maybe they into British colonial buildings, so they find it beautiful. To me must beautiful city is Terengganu, coz I love the beautiful beaches in Terengganu.
you just showed the most uninteresting, luxury, resort areas that have nothing to do with the genuine city or culture of penang. try talkling to some locals and eating street food - the overly fancy hotel food does not capture the authentic malaysian experience. i know nothing about georgetown after watching this, besides that i cant afford where your staying.
