@sacredgreg Thank you for your interest and questions. Yes, I am using strings ADg low to high from a standard medium pack. By tuning lower to EBe the strings have more slack and seem to work better on a fretless guitar. Due to the fact CBGs are not built to any industry standard, experimenting with tunings, string gauges, and set up is essential to getting each one to play at it's best. Please check out my instructional video CDs for more information. Enjoy your practice.
@tracer7142 Thank you for your comment. I am using a very primal tuning. Only 2 notes and 3 strings; EBE. A perfect fifth apart. This string arrangement is very versatile. Enjoy.
@earthmother Thank you for your comment and continued support. I am glad to be able to make this CD available at this time. I believe it offers a solid approach to playing cigar box guitar that is simple, but based on a correct musical foundation. Players will be able to cover their favorite songs that are not technically difficult, but at the same time don't sound elementary. Enjoy.
Hello Terry. I just commented back to you on facebook. There is a reason why most string instruments are fretted today. LOL Unfretted has an interesting unique tone, but getting accurate pitches takes extra skill. From a learning perspective it might be a lot easier with frets. Please feel free to write if you have further questions. Happy New Year. Enjoy your build and practice.
@BluesDfender Thank you for such a generous nomination. I feel extremely fortunate to have sites like youtube, cigarboxnation, handmademusicclubhouse, facebook, myspace, ebay, and a long list of friends in the trade; backporchmojo, cigarcitycbgs, tinyguitars, reddogguitars, willy's slides, all my students and viewers. If not for all you good folks, old Keni Lee would be all alone with his dog Onyx just serenading the stars on his backporch. If I failed to mention anyone, I apologize. Enjoy.
Thank you for your comment. Yes, fretless playing is quite different and using the movable chord method on a fretted 3 string CBG really is quite effective too. Enjoy.
@braintransplantdonor Thank you for your comment and enthusiastic interest. I feel 3 string CBG offers the opportunity to learn guitar with an easier approach than standard 6 sting guitar. This method of movable chords is universal and applicable to any style of music. I will be also posting more videos in the future, to help students apply this method even better, so they can cover their favorite songs. Not to toot my own horn, but I think this is my epiphany actualized. Enjoy.
Oh dear! Kenilee, I know I said last week I was too old to think about learning guitar. The more of these videos I watch, I'm thinking that there may be a time when Mrs Braintransplantdonor and I will need to have a serious talk about expenditure in relation to a 3-string CBG and some learning resources..............
i love both these songs and could listen all day to this. i see that in an earlier comment you said you were tuned E B E are you only using the 3rd 4th and 5th string of a regular 6 pack of medium gauge strings, then tuning these to E B E thanks
Kenni Hey, my name is Jorge, am from Argentina, a month ago finished making my first CBG 4 string (fretless). I have tried all kinds of open tunings and I liked is that I discovered while trying to tune in a different tone. It is: 1 -. E 2 -. B 3 -. E 4 -. B I love playing in this tuning, I could play some Mississippi Fred McDowell Blues album "Steakbone Slide Guitar", since as they are simple blues as Little Schoolgirl Good morning, You Got To Move. I've also done tracks of Howlin 'Wolf, and Ain't Goin' Down That Dirt Road, You Gonna Wreck My Life. What we need to ask is if you can upload some video CGB playing a 4-string (fretless) PLEASE!!!! Thanks.
Thank you for your comment. Referring to the major scale, your tuning is 5151. I prefer 5135 because it is more functional in a variety of keys. Other players use 1513. Basically these are parts of the 3 basic open tunings found on 6 string. 151351 / 515135 / 151513. There are many ways to play CBG.
I've been playing Blues since 1984. Although, this demonstration does not require anywhere near that length of time. What do you want to play? 6, 4, or 3 string. I offer video lessons. As you work through the lessons, you are free to write and I will help you progress.
I guess sliding is a bit more easy then picking and chords.I do not play an instrument but want to play some blues trough an amplifier. Are the fingerpositions on the neck hard to learn?I mean how long did it take for you to play like this?
Sad to say the url www.tinyguitars.tk leads so some crappy sex site.Damn,I hate that. Love the sound Keni.I have two of your CD's actually three but I had to replace one that got lost. Thanks for putting all of this style on CD for the lesser folk like me.

Thank you for your interest. No stomp box. All acoustic recording. It is just my boot against the wooden floor boards. Enjoy.
Thank you for your interest and question. I am using ADf# which is the topic of study for CD 6.
