Kristina Boassen is one of the last Drum Dancers in Greenland. Here she is performing for the Kulusuk Day Tour offered by Air Iceland Connect and Icelandic Mountain Guides in East Greenland.
Something about this feels so gentle and sweet, like a mother singing to her son.
Beautiful. The drumming is truly a heartbeat!
It's pretty amazing. Becoming more and more difficult to find those who know how to drum dance though :(
@@lisagermany that’s truly sad news. So many traditions get pushed to the side with our society today. I’ll be keeping good thoughts for this tradition and for you.
Reminds me of Koryak people drum dance in Russia.
Inspiring to see people who live in a remote region have such a rich culture! Most people would think otherwise.
They have a lot of programs to try and preserve it here in Greenland. In fact, The Greenlandic drum dance was just inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage :D
They have a strong culture and a sence of community, that we don't understand. I from denmark a have quite few friends from Greenland, and have been sailing with some of them, and they where some damn tuff knowledgeable seamen, with an amazing understanding of the ocean.
Ahem cuzinz
Very elegant and beautiful rhythm. ❤️ With love from India ....!
Think made me tear up. I love being an inuk
Awesome. Love her boots, too.
Its called Kamik. Single: Kamik. Plural: Kammit.
Lovely "EarthBeat"!
BEAUTIFUL !
Ejj, det er godt. this is really good
beautiful.. i wonder what she’s singing about?
I bet you bet you in some way or form it's about nature, their whole existence and life is dictated to nature in a way we won't understand.
I know alot of people from Greenland and their insight in nature and their environment is amazing. Sadly in many years their culture was taking over by western or danish culture, But it feels like, that in the last decade or so, there's been a strong uprising when it comes to national identity, and I hope it will only get stronger, because it would be a loss for the whole world to lose a beautiful culture like that.
I found an article of the people who went to see this performance. its either a story about to kids paying then getting into a fight but resolving the issue and moving on. the article didn't go into detail about the other story though.
In Kamchatka Russia similar small nations
Thats because native Americans/Canadians, and native Siberians are related
Beautiful!
Wooooow
💯🌼🤓🦚🙏
Where did you get this video? I'd like to know if the Tribal Member of Greenland used has her own TH-cam webpage to credit her music to. I'd like to know do you know how to reach her to see if she is interested in collaborating with another artist. I don't want credit to go to some woman who is from Germany standing next to a jackass that's not what my art represents. Thanks
Kusanak. Torrak! ❤❤❤

am I allowed to use this for one of my projects?
You can definitely link to the video :)
Thanks
It's cold and she's wearing shorts.
We inuit are not weaklings like europeans.
