clearly the concept of this MV is all about elegance, class, sophistication and sexiness. totally different from any Twice previous concepts. the visuals are very stunning indeed. JYP has done a great job and hasn't screwed up MISAMO.
They added a reference to Aphrodite or venus if that is what you would call it. The part where momo was in rhe clam or something was a reference to the birth of venus which symbolizes beauty, love, and sexual desire. VENUS is the roman counterpart to Aphrodite. Venus also symbolizes a bith of a new civilization or change to come... It can also reference geo political situations too. We can say that this would be a birth of a new twice

Firstly I have to shout out Momo’s iconic scene, and my favorite, that was a recreation of the Birth of Venus. Just WOW. Sana and Mina also have very straightforward recreations with Mina’s being The Swing and I believe Sana’s is The Woman in Gold (both are during the bridge) I also found the name of the huge painting in the second verse, and I LOVE the story behind it. It’s an edited version of Botticelli’s Primavera (who also did the Birth of Venus!! They’re sister works!!) which features the Three Graces, who are goddesses of charm, beauty, creativity, nature, and fertility. Their names are Aglaea, Euphrosyne, and Thalia, meaning radiance, joy, and “abundance” respectfully. Mina and Sana’s opening scenes that were used as teasers also seem to be referencing specific pieces, La Grand Odalisque and La Donna Velata. I can’t take credit for these finds tho, shout-out to @isaCarpeLucem on Twitter! Lastly, there are other little details that aren’t direct references but reminded me of works I’ve seen. Mina’s hat with holes was backlit, which created a halo effect that calls back to religious iconography in the Renaissance. Momo‘s costume at beginning of the second verse has a veil that reminded me of The Madonna. I’m sure there’s more (I’m almost positive that I’ve seen something like Momo’s scene in the bridge but can’t put my finger on it) but at least my art history classes paid off!!
If this came out 8 years ago when they were the cute/bubbly concepts, they would have been crucified by their fans. The timing is everything. I’m thinking during the negotiations of their contracts, they probably advocate hard to let them be grown up and yes, they sure deliver a master piece.🎨🖌️🧑🏽🎨
