Fiddling as Rome burns. Life Member here, and I must point something out. Benefits, healthcare and mental health issues are indeed a priority.,,, but... Why hasn't the Legion been leading the charge against the systematic destruction of nearly every aspect of our nation? I'd venture to say that the survival of America is far more important to the average Veteran than a free slice of cake at Applebee's. Our military, now including defense contractors, is imploding through woke brainwashing, intimidation and indifference, all while aggressor nations are ganging up to take us on here at home, drawn towards the stench of weakness that our nation is emitting as it bends over with the wide-open orifice formerly known as the border. Every aspect of the federal, state and local gov't, including our public school system, has been hijacked by "justice warriors", be them citizens or “newcomers”, also thru intimidation and extortion tactics. I'm really surprised why no one in the Legion bureaucracy has pointed out the similarities that all this DEI, CRT, ESG, and other alphabet gibberish is straight out of Mao's Little Red Book. NEVER have I seen an article in the 30years of receiving the Legion magazine that addresses the Marxist roots of most of these disasters. I'd venture the question would come right back to you. What are YOU personally doing about any of those things? Are you at your local post asking them to forward your thoughts as their priority? Have you spoken to your state Legion office about how you want to pitch in and help lead the charge on behalf of the Legion? Are you at your state convention gathering consensus and forwarding a resolution for what you are advocating? Is what you are advocating for the Legion to do really the focus that all of us Legion members contribute our dues and want the Legion to become? I'm not disagreeing with some of your comments, though some seem a little more inflammatory than constructive. But I think the Legion is staying in its lane as far as what the vast majority of its members want it to be. As far as a political career, the National Commander is a pastor in a small town in Wisconsin; not someone running for political office. He's a great example of servant leadership.
