    I recently purchased the 400s and ran into the same difficulty with frame rates when connecting to an ATEM. (I didn't do my homework and thought it just passed what ever the camera put out.)
    However, I think I found a work around. At least at 60p/59.994, without needing a video converter. (Also worked at 60i/59.94!)
    You cannot use the SDI out for this, it Must be the HDMI.
    If you power up the 400s while connected to and HDMI input on an operating ATEM, the output will "Mostly" not be recognized.
    However, if you start with the 400s already powered on, then power up the ATEM, it will pass video!
    I say mostly not recognized because in my testing, if you power down the 400s for some reason (After it was working with the ATEM) then power it back up, the ATEM will pick it back up almost every time. As long as the ATEM was not power cycled with the Receiver off.
    It seems the ATEM is able to workout what ever handshaking is going on during power up to get the HDMI connection going.
    And yes, it appears you can shut off the transmitter if you want to conserve battery and switch it back on, the ATEM will pick it up no problem as long as the receiver has remained powered on.
    I have tested this with an ATEM 1 m/e 4K, and an ATEM 4K Production Studio.
    Both running the latest firmware update as of this comment.

    The biggest downside to this is the frame rate outputs. I myself am running the bmd tvs so I need exact frame matching. I’m still going to get it though as the price is great and if I need to I will get the converter box to conform to what I need.

  • @dennydaugherty5774

    Thanks for posting this! Is there any difference between the 300, 400, and 400s models besides distance (300' vs 400') and connectivity (HDMI vs HDMI+SDI)? We recently tried Nyrius Pro+ but am getting poor performance (dropped signal and grainy video) so looking to maybe switch to one of these. Our sanctuary is 84' in length, so I'm considering, and our system is all HDMI. So I'm wondering if the 300 model would suffice for our needs. I would still want to prioritize low latency if that makes a difference between models.

    • @BallastMedia
      @BallastMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, the 300 will probably be fine for you. Just be sure you located the Tx and Rx in a way that they can "see" each other. The 300 doesn't have the iOS/Android app connection, but it doesn't sound like that will be an issue for you.

  • @OffGridandOutdoors
    @OffGridandOutdoors 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing I've noticed in testing using the Mars 300 pro enhanced (with latest firmware) was that while I could sync with my video and audio from other cam sources through A/V delay... The longer I use the wireless camera the more out of sync it gets. It stays sync for just under an hour (once synced) but starts getting out of sync again after an hour. It's as though the longer we use it the worse the video latency becomes.

    • @BallastMedia
      @BallastMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are you sending the video in to? What is your path from the receiver? Not saying it might not be the mars, but usually latency that changes after a long time like that is a resource issue on a computer.

    • @BallastMedia
      @BallastMedia  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As with anything RF, the more line of sight the better the reception you will get. We have the base unit in our sound booth in our balcony, and it works fine with our camera operator, who is located under the balcony, and to our video director who is in an adjacent room (not line of sight at all.) You'll probably get decent penetration through one wall.

    Hi There, great video! Thank you so much. Quick question, are you able stream with a Panasonic Camera directly to the transmitter as well as iPhones wirelessly back to the receiver connected to the ATEM mini pro and be able to function as two cameras when you switch cameras on the ATEM? And function that same way through OBS As well? If that makes sense...

    • @BallastMedia
      @BallastMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not exactly sure I follow what you are asking? The transmitter can send to an iOS device, but it doesn't go from the iOS device to the receiver.

    Can you please explain the BMD UpdowncrossHD

    • @BallastMedia
      @BallastMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. It takes whatever video standard (resolution and frame rate) is coming in to the UpDownCross HD, and it outputs a video standard that you configure it to. So for example, if you have 1080p60 and need 1080p59.94, it will make the conversion, or even if you have 720p59.94 and you need 1080i29.97 or whatever, it will output the format you want, no matter what the input is.
