The ending of Episode One DOES NOT get talked about enough. It’s always been one of the most jaw dropping endings in gaming history for me, to think of the scale of the explosion, and of the Citadel, being completely destroyed and taking the whole city with it. Gets the goosebumps raised every time, to think also how close Alyx and Gordon could’ve been to not making it out alive. Never mind advancing gaming technology, it’s the mind blowing set pieces of story like that, as to why Valve remain my favourite game developers.

@Mr. Bonnie Bon Valve did change the ending of the original Portal in the lead up to Portal 2’s release, imagine them doing the similar to HL2:Ep2 to reflect the change of timeline. I imagine that the revised ending could have looked like this: as Eli gets captured by an Advisor, all of a sudden there would be large green beam coming out from nowhere (which is actually from the young Alyx under supervision by the G-Man), releasing Eli as it kills the Advisor. Alyx would fade out or teleport away in process.
Yeah, like all of the other potential employees who didn't get accepted, he was thrown into stasis until G-Man decides otherwise. And when I say "otherwise", it means killing Shepard.
It's so cool that they've managed to keep the logic in the series. Eli is well aware of the G-Man, he knows that Gordon also has a connection with him, and the next game (hopefully HL³) will be set to either aquire the portal gun and go after G-Man or... Just go after G-Man? The only thing that weirds me out a little is that Alyx, supposedly, was snatched into the void 5 years prior to the events of half-life 2, episode 1 and 2, which means the entire build up to this moment of Eli's salvation should be void of Alyx's presence. Unless vortigaunts with their mind living outside of the flow of time tipped Eli off on the situation... And yet, the Dog is still there, Eli speaks of Alyx as if she was just there... I wonder how this will work out...
I think the G Man removed Alyx from the timeline at the end of Ep2, not HLA. Otherwise, Eli wouldn't be so suddenly angry about it. I think he took her when she killed the advisor.
Re-watch all G-Man speeches again and you will understand. But in short, what happens in the end of ep 2 was planned so G-Man could hire Alyx in Gordon's place...
I think now I get it... Back at the Black Mesa G-Man provided the crystal to Eli, but he warned him about the cost... Eli thought he'd outplay him, but ultimately failed. What happened next is the following. G-Man allowed Alyx to step in, letting her embody her future-self and save her father. Then he "hires" her. Her memory will be wiped, she will live through every event happened in HL2 and episodes and she'd be snatched right after "sudden awakening" of her powers that save Eli at the end of alternate Episode 2. Her subconscious wakes the memory of what was the cause of that right before she's put into stasis. I think that sounds... Somewhat solid...

They do actually set up a story for a possible half life 3 in alyx, which is very surprising. I doubt there will be one, but if there is, they set it up nice.
The sacrifice ending had secret ending, which it reveal bill crawling to power engine and died, but it didn't give everyone secret expect some people, bill can be found in the passing, as many people know where bill is
I don't know man, the original half-life 2 ending was much more dark and alluring, really left me on the edge of my seat. The only reason why the combine kept us around was because we understood portal technology, and as soon as the combine found out. We would be destroyed. In the original HL2 ending, this meant that when Eli had his mind read and assimilated into the advisor (Shu'ulathoi) knowledge. This meant that the entire resistance was without a leader, the combine would soon destroy the human race, having no importance for them aside from maybe keeping them as slaves, and the borealis would be used as a teleport launching ground for the combine to take over the rest of the universe.
I can't get over the fact how the turrets in portal 2 just stare blankly at you while you leave the facility and the green turret in the back does not help
I have a strong theory about the ending without the time traveling thing : After half life alyx ending alyx was replaced by someone that looks like her or maybe the G-man himself and I believe it's the G-man mimicking her that's why you see him walking after what happened to Eli and because it's the G-man he can't die so easily what you see is all connected to what we see. Someone like Gman can't be stopped by simply putting him in a prison so easily and not even the Combine could stop the Gman, Gman let himself get captured while in the prison he is gone doing some business for everything to work perfectly and goes back until Alyx releases him

With no knowledge of half life I played through half life Alyx blind and it felt amazing because I knew nothing and it was an amazing learning experience

Gman's breathing in hl1 is phenomenal
They do actually set up a story for a possible half life 3 in alyx, which is very surprising. I doubt there will be one, but if there is, they set it up nice.

I don't know man, the original half-life 2 ending was much more dark and alluring, really left me on the edge of my seat. The only reason why the combine kept us around was because we understood portal technology, and as soon as the combine found out. We would be destroyed. In the original HL2 ending, this meant that when Eli had his mind read and assimilated into the advisor (Shu'ulathoi) knowledge. This meant that the entire resistance was without a leader, the combine would soon destroy the human race, having no importance for them aside from maybe keeping them as slaves, and the borealis would be used as a teleport launching ground for the combine to take over the rest of the universe.

Half life 2 has THE BEST ENDING imo. I beat this game a LOT of times and it's just so perfect.
I have a strong theory about the ending without the time traveling thing :
After half life alyx ending alyx was replaced by someone that looks like her or maybe the G-man himself and I believe it's the G-man mimicking her that's why you see him walking after what happened to Eli and because it's the G-man he can't die so easily what you see is all connected to what we see. Eli is not dead neither Gordon, G-man or alyx it's the G-man plann to free himself and complete his plann
Someone like Gman can't be stopped by simply putting him in a prison so easily and not even the Combine could stop the Gman, Gman let himself get captured while in the prison he is gone doing some business for everything to work perfectly and goes back until Alyx releases him

Because G-Man returned Freeman to the world, and Alyx got lost. So yeah, he returned Gordon and Eli back, and they must find Alyx and she got lost.
