VORTEX // DANTE AND THE MUSIC OF HIS TIME // Album release

Dear friends, in a few day Vortex Ensemble will release its debut-album! Tamara and me know each other since many years. Shortly before the pandemic started, we decided to join forces and do #medievalmusic, since we both love it! Vortex was born! One of the main purposes of Vortex is to bring back to life the vibrancy and the richness of an often underestimated musical epoch. Even during the pandemic and right after it, we managed to play in 6 different countries and present our programms at several festivals and institutions.
We are very thankful for the support of NeustartKultur, that allowed us to produce our first album, "Dante and the music of his time".
This album is a selection of works from the most important cultural centres of Dante Alighieri’s time, which are also mentioned in his Divina Commedia, among others. The result is a vivid musical picture of the time in which the great poet lived. A world where music and poetry were inseparable.
Vortex researches and explores European and Mediterranean music from the 11th to the 14th century. One of the main purposes of Vortex is to bring back to life the vibrancy and the richness of an often underestimated musical epoch.
