people ask why i want to leave and i simply reply that it is not about leaving, it is about going home. i do not feel like i belong here, ya know? i am disconnected from something that has left me so very empty inside. perhaps it was lack of a mother's love or something? but i just want to go home. wherever that is?
It's okay to wanna escape it's just a matter of choosing something good for you to escape. I escape into meditation. That's my escape. I highly recommend it.
Looking for external things to make one feel better- interesting how we also look outside ourselves to blame others for our feelings… it’s like lack of connection to self and hyper connection to self pity:// shame, etc … hyper sensitive and desensitized simultaneously:// ❤️
I'm baffled by her last statement that people who drink are no different than people who cut. That would mean people who drink are BPD people? Someone who drinks one glass of wine with dinner each night? She must have meant alcoholics who drink heavily to escape. I wish she was clearer about that point.
She does explicitly say "people who drink to feel better". Having a glass of wine to a meal doesn't fall into this category - but drinking the rest of the bottle after the meal and then opening up another bottle because we're feeling lonely does.
She’s just means that they are each choosing an activity to help them escape unwanted feelings and it’s a strong compulsion for relief. In that limited sense, they’re no different. They’re both responding to a desire for escape, it’s the method that is different.
What she means is that self harm Can present itself in different ways... cutting oneself or intoxicating oneself( drugs, alcool,..etc)... it's called a suicidal equivalent!
Algorithm: more dialectical behavior therapy content please.
Very true on the whole thinking something is going to end our lives. For me personally, it would be like “I finally get to get out of this misery!”
I can relate 100% to how you feel

Wow this is scary and I need to get back into therapy asap
What study is she referring to? I'm writing a research paper and it would be a great addition. Thanks!
They are just the same❤
Any courses on PPD.
I'd like to see this film. Where can I find it? The website only has a trailer, and I've not found it anywhere else online.

No she's speaking of the idea to "escape"
