    Very helpful video thank you. I was trying to do this with fillet edge, but there were odd jagged lines appearing at the edges as I was trying to fillet, and long spears were shooting out in unexpected places.
    When I tried to render my drawing using this method, I have kind of remnants from the smoothing I think, like the areas that would be highest on the surface of the disc have grey shadow / outlines around them. Any idea what could be causing this? Thank you!

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign
      @PJChenJewelryDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Riona, Fillet edges is hard on complicate shape with angles like this demo. this is try to mimic the T-Spline effect. When you do the rendering, make sure your model doesn't' have any hidden objects or layers, and you also want to delete all the curves.

    Hi chan Great video i am trying to do this this by following the same steps but it wont get smooth finish the way you do edges are rough and wavy is it because i use rhino 5?? also the smooth menu is different than yours i dont have the options to drag the numbers right or left i am putting manually please advice

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign
      @PJChenJewelryDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may want to bump up your mesh count. make it finer before you do the smooth.

  • @mjy596
    @mjy596 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great. How do you turn the mesh back into a poly surface? Can you the fillet the poly surface? Thanks

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign
      @PJChenJewelryDesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use MeshToNURBS command but there will be way too many polygon.

    • @mjy596
      @mjy596 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is there a way to reduce the polygon count or does this mean that you cannot change back to work in nurbs?@@PJChenJewelryDesign

    Great video, really helpful. Is there a way to to this technique, but instead of smoothing/filleting the edges, you get more of a chamfered look? I'm trying to achieve this but with a more angular result. Thanks!

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign
      @PJChenJewelryDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you use SubD in Rhino 7. You can add the crease to the edge

    If I want to do this on on signet ring, should I select the all parts when I do smooth ??

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign
      @PJChenJewelryDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If only apply to the pattern. then do the pattern only. or your ring may not be the exact size. if you are using Rhino 7, you can also try the QuadRemesh command

    Can't we just do the same with filet edge? Cuz after Boolean Diff we have sharp solid edges and i think we can easily do it with filet edge.

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign
      @PJChenJewelryDesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fillet edge is one of the option but you will have flat top surface.
