I like the way you combine these two mediums. Does the watercolor change the surface of the paper so that the color pencil causes the paper to pill? I certainly don't see that on your drawing/painting, however I have experienced this using mixed media paper and some watercolor hot press paper. Maybe I'm using too much water. Any suggestions?
I haven't experienced issues combining watercolor and color pencil. I actually really like the combination and I think it enhances illustrations. I'm sad to hear you've had a hard time with it. I guess issues may emerge if you use color pencil before the watercolor dries fully. I always make sure to leave the watercolor to dry overnight even if it seems like it's dry. If not that, I guess the paper itself may be the issue. There’s such variety of papers out there that I think you just have to try out different papers and find the ones that work for you. And I’m not sure it’s just about the type of paper, but the brand as well. What exact papers have you used? I love using Fabriano Accademia Drawing paper, maybe you can try that one.
@@alexgraybergh I'm going to give the Fabriano Accademia a try. And I'll try letting it dry overnight instead of using a hair dryer. Thanks for the suggestion.
