It takes a man in tennis shoes and jean shorts to get it done. Much love brother, keep on being yourself!

Recently bought half a 4 door 58 delray that someone stuck one of these motors into. You got my sub for posting this common but lesser known than sbc motor

@BarnYard Garage part of why I bought the car was I dug that it has a straight 6. Use what's laying around and easy to install. Gonna get it driving soon with a one wire alternator

Just bought a 84 g10 van with one of these. Hasn’t run in a few years, but not as long as yours lol. Came with a new hei distributor so I’ll install that and poke around there. Thanks for sharing, looks like persistence is key! 💪

Yep I added transmission fluid to the cylinders to help build some compression,
If it's not stuck it should run 👍
Good luck and Thanks for Watching

Put the Number one cylinder at TDC and set your point, tighten the rotor, it should now be timed just righ and start right up

I think you need to get you a battery or a battery booster the clicking of the starter is because it don't have enough juice to start!

    • @barnyardgarage
      @barnyardgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I'll get a new battery when I get the engine installed,

Interesting video. I have a 1979 4.1L that came oem in my 1979 Caprice. The freeze plug in the back of the engine blew and it had low compression in 1 cylinder (head issue) so I replaced it with a 350 (a very good thing to do). It’s been sitting in my garage for 30 years. Wondering if other heads will bolt up to this engine to allow other than the one barrel carb or should I just haul it off to the dump.

You need to turn that distributor forward just a tiny bit to make it fire slightly later

110 HP 👍 that's awesome, mine is going in a 1930 Chevy truck, that should be a big up grade from the 40 HP 194 ci that's in it.

I enjoyed watching this straight 6 fire up. Did you have any issues getting yours mounted up on the engine stand? I’m about to load my 250 on one but the block seems a little to long.

No it fits good, it is a bit long but doesn't seem to be any issues, Thanks for Watching

JB Weld ... what a great start.
This has to be the world's easiest engine to work on and de-bug. "I put one in an old Landrover after rebuilding it and it did 800,000km before I sold the truck with never any more attention than basic routine service.
    1. And no one should attempt to crank an old motor that has been sitting idle for an extended period without getting some lube into the cylinders.
    2. Running an engine without coolant is a quick way to wreck it before you move ahead.
    3. And set the points right, too, as explained by @jmyazzie08 below.
    4. Maybe some aerostart would help but
    5. You likely have no idea if the float or needle in the carb is stuck or jets are blocked, either.
    6. I hope that oil is getting to the bearings before you grind them out, too.

It sounds to me like it's obviously firing before top dead center

Are you able to get fire spark from the center port of distributor cap wire ????
