  • This shiny starter Quaxly was found on June 29th, 2023 after 3608 SRs, and was hunted via removing the shiny locks forced onto the Paldean starters at the beginning of the game.
To do this hunt (or any other shiny locked Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet) yourself, you will need the following:
A Switch which is capable of operating custom firmware (check your serial number if you are unsure if your Switch can run custom firmware. If it can, jailbreak it using this site as a guide throughout the process: nh-server.gith...)
Your own RomFS of the most recent version of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet (dumped via either nxdumptool on a Switch with custom firmware, which you should have after the above step, or through the emulator Yuzu)
Trinity Mod Loader, a tool that lets you view, extract and modify the game's filesystem. (gamebanana.com...) You will also need ooo2core_8_win64.dll in the same directory as Trinity for it to run properly - this can be found with a Google search.
Flatbuffers BIN converter, to allow you to convert any .bin files to .json text files you can edit, save, and then convert back to .bin files. (www.nexusmods....)
Once you have these prerequisites, follow the steps in this link up until step 4: gamebanana.com...
During step 4, extract the files with the following names, both the .bins and the .bfbs of the same names:
eventBattlePokemon_array (most static encounters, including Legendaries, Titans, Gimmighoul in chests)
eventAddPokemon_array (Gift Pokemon, including starters, the Koraidon/Miraidon you get during the final story battle, and the Galarian Meowth gift from the Academy)
    eventTradePokemon_array (in-game trades)
fixed_symbol_table_array (fixed overworld spawns, including the special Tera type ones)
These files are what you want to edit to remove the shiny locks! Once you have these, copy & paste them to the "Input" file where you have the Flatbuffer converter, and convert them to .json files. (this is done to the .bin files, but you need the .bfbs files too for the conversion to work)
Upon doing this, open the newly converted .json files, and look for the things you want to remove the shiny lock from. The internal names of the most notable shiny locked Pokemon are below:
    NEKO1 - Sprigatito
    WANI1 - Fuecoco
    KAMO1 - Quaxly
    KOIN1 - Gimmighoul
    ZYUNDEN1 - Ting-Lu
    ZYUNDEN2 - Chien-Pao
    ZYUNDEN3 - Wo-Chien
    ZYUNDEN4 - Chi-Yu
    AIGUANA - Koraidon
BIGUANA - Miraidon (for Koraidon & Miraidon, the one pertaining to the Area Zero static encounter is at the very bottom of eventBattlePokemon_array)
    HIMEGUMA3 - Blood Moon Ursaluna
    DOKUINU - Okidogi
    DOKUZARU - Munkidori
DOKUKIZI - Fezandipiti (the entries for the Loyal Three labelled "get_dokuinu/dokukizi/dokuzaru" are the ones you can catch, so only look for these in eventBattlePokemon_array)
KAMENONI - Ogerpon (all 4 Ogerpon phases have separate entries in eventBattlePokemon_array - only look for "kamenoni_4" and "kamenoni_4_strong", as that's the Ogerpon you actually catch)
Once you've found them, the value in the files that determines the presence of a shiny lock is labelled "rareType", and anything shiny locked will have the value "NO_RARE" next to it. Change any instance of "NO_RARE" to "DEFAULT" to remove the shiny locks, and then save the edited .json files. Once this is done, copy any of the edited .json files to Input again, and then convert these back to .bin files!
Once this is completed, follow steps 5-9 of the page linked above, and everything should hopefully work! (if you have Violet, the title ID shown in step 9 after "contents" must be 01008F6008C5E000, as the one shown there is for Scarlet)
However, if anything goes wrong during this process, there IS a much simpler alternative: download the files in the link below, which are pre-packed versions of the .bin files with the shiny locks already removed, and scroll under the list of Pokemon whose shiny locks have been removed to see instructions on where to place the pre-packed modded files properly onto your Switch's SD Card:
    gamebanana.com...
Hopefully this should all work for you! To test if the mod works, select one of the Paldea starters at the start of the game, and check their summary - if the mod works, you should see them holding a Rare Candy! If they are not holding a Rare Candy, then there is likely an error in how the downloaded files have been compiled on your Switch's microSD card.

I have attached a link in the description and the bottom of this comment containing pre-packed .zip files which can be extracted into your Switch's microSD card root for both Scarlet & Violet, which saves anybody the trouble of manually removing the shiny locks themselves! If anybody wants to use them, they are more than welcome to!
Keep in mind your Switch still needs to be able to launch custom firmware for the shiny lock removal to work, so if your Switch model is a patched one that cannot launch it, then you unfortunately won't be able to try these mods:

    GG for the trio !
As you said, it's nice you were so lucky on such slow hunts.

If only modding a switch wouldnt be so risky...
