orange and blue are opposites on the color wheel, so they end up going together really well. i think thats why we see it happening multiple times, just because its a classic bold color combination that looks nice.

Of course if you try pairing up two fully saturated and really bright hues of orange and blue, they'll end up clashing and not working at all. But in this case, as you can see with Brawly's badge, the blue is gradating from a lighter shade into a really deep darker one where it meets the orange, which gives the later a sense of highlight, even thought the orange is attenuated. It's really a masterclass on color composition if you think about it! I love it.
Hi! I really loved this video- but I would like to bring up an aspect of the Hoenn Elite 4 that was a missed opportunity to discuss- while the rooms themselves aren't that interesting- the HALLWAYS TO the rooms were quite gorgeously animated in ORAS and really did a great job atmospherically with introducing each member in a fun way. Phoebe's hallway is ESPECIALLY gorgeous, being this eerie but calm purple lake with lotus flowers, lily pads and wisterias for set dressing, all while a ghostly entity lights up the lanterns to her door. It gagged me SO fiercely as a kid and was iconic to me, that I was surprised there was no mention of it- as it's easily my favorite aspect surrounding Phoebe's character.

One works out at the beach a lot thinking of it as a natural gym, the other basically lives there, feeling more connected via tai chi and surfing. Both honing their bodies in different ways. I absolutely love their designs so I've spent an abnormal amount of time researching them

Imo Flannery represents the ‘new beginnings’ aspect of Hoenn. This is the 1st region separate from Kanto/Johto, 1st region without Team Rocket, etc. She’s canonically new to being a gym leader and you help her find her confidence when you beat her.

I agree with putting Phoebe in Okay because she is, unfortunately, a product of her time. Gen III didn't allow for a full girlypop serve due to the lack of variety in Ghost-types in the first three generations. We have Gengar, Misdreavus, Dusclops, Banette, and Sableye, and that's literally it. She only had five options to choose from. Later, in ORAS, we see her trying to elevate her girlypop serve since there are now more options, with one of her Dusclops being replaced by Froslass and one of her Banette replaced for Mismagius. Phoebe has been held back by The Pokémon Company, and I think that she would've totally served a full girlypop moment had ORAS came out during the Alola era, and that is the basis of my dissertation. Thank you so much!

He’s at Least LA to me.

I think Steven is actually just a diva and made the E4 sign contracts that forfeited their freedom of expression of looks, stages, and team compositions. Steven wanted all the slay for himself and will use his money and influence to get what he wants. Sidney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Drake deserve better.
