Ah man wish i had seen this video yesterday, I've just bought an x8r, SBUS to PWM & channel changer. I want to hook it up exactly like you have I thought my only option was to use the SBUS to PWM didn't realise I could do SBUS & PWM at the same time right out of the rx. Great video thanks for sharing
if you are using a Taranis Plus, you need to reflash with updated firmware before mode4 method will work. Tutorial below. Taranis 16ch setup using 1 X8R receiver
So I believe the S.Bus will output all 16 channels to a given flight controller. Can I use the PWM out in addition to S.Bus? Like I want to plug in a model beeper into a channel but I'll be using S.Bus to the FC.
Yes, absolutely! S.Bus always has all the channels you have configured, up to 16, and yes, you can use the PWM channel ports simultaneously, or bind the receiver to output channels 9-16 on the PWM pins instead of 1-8 for convenient access to the higher channels using PWM.
Hi, I've tried to do this, but on doing so have not got telemetry with 16 channels when bridging channel 1-2 & 3-4! Can you advise please; I've had to go back to just 8 to get telemetry? Thanks, Kevin.
That's odd. We use this mode all the time and it's working fine for us. You can contact us through our website if you'd like and we can try to help you further...or post a video of what you're experiencing and we'll look for clues as to why it's not working for you.
Hi, I'm trying to link my taranis x8r receptor but can not. Here's a video of how I'm doing. The battery is connected to the current distributor and receiver'm connecting an Afro 30A drive to use as bec. Taranis X9D + X8R NO BIND I hope you can help me, greetings.
It appears you are doing it correctly, so I'm thinking you've got either a bad radio or receiver. Do you have any other receivers you can try binding with to test the radio? Did you try binding without any jumpers? The red light should flash on the receiver once it binds....and I never saw that in your video. Hope that helps! Good luck!
What a great video and great explanation. One question.....it looks like you are using a APM or Pixhawk type FC for your multirotor. Where are you connecting your sbus cable from your receiver. To the RC port or the SB port on your FC? Thanks in advance for your help!
Thanks! The Pixhawk RC IN port will accept either CPPM or SBUS signals. The SB port is actually not used for SBus at the moment. It can be used for analog RSSI measurement if you pass the FrSky RSSI output through a resistor/capacitor circuit first to smooth it into a DC signal.
The L9R must be bound with the Taranis or XJT module in LR12 mode! There is no other way to bind it. Just set LR12 bind mode on the radio/module and power up the L9R with the F/S button pressed...that's it! You will have 12 channels, assuming you configured all 12 on the radio before binding.
Yes, telemetry will still be active. There are other jumper configurations available during binding that will disable telemetry, so be careful you do not accidentally disable it!

Thank you, glad you found it useful. There are so many awesome things you can do with FrSky equipment, it's really unbeatable, at any price!

Hi, do you know how to do this with a Ezuhf transmitter and receiver or is it even possible?

Thank you. Just what I needed to add a bomb door servo to my F450.
Thanks! Glad you found the video useful!

does this method allow telemetry aswell?
Yes, telemetry will still be active. There are other jumper configurations available during binding that will disable telemetry, so be careful you do not accidentally disable it!
