    I just wanna say, people bash Traxxas all the time, but I’ve had the 3s dual charger, the single 4s capable id live & the dual 4s Maxx live charger too. I called customer service about a wonky 4s that wouldn’t charge, sent them a battery photo and screen shot of the error light, two brand new 4s XMaxx batteries for free, they’re very good about warranty’s, so keep your receipts in a box

      Traxxas says that you can't use other lipos with their charger because if something goes south ( I know that at least for us) there are many people that are going to sue Traxxas for not warning them properly. These lipos are nothing fancy or special( other than my 4s 6750mah lipos have less then 10mOhm of resistance) besides that connector. I recently changed to a xmaxx and got 4x 4s trx lipos that I soldered to balancer and xt90 and they still work fine. I know that the warranty now is expired but I don't care about that.

    new to the hobby, didnt know anything about lipo fires or storage charging, etc. killed 3 new batteries in moving (about a week or so in storage) and they all swole up and died. got new ones on the way at 1/2 price replacement, but these are very good things to know. also that my transmitter from the trx4 sport DOESNT have the option for EPA, but the upgraded trx4/6 controller does. im guessing it needs the upgraded esc to go with it, so thats a future upgrade to consider. the field battery checker is also something i didnt know about, but seems very handy. thanks so much for these great learning videos for those of us who 'dont know it all'. ;P

      Happy you found us Michael! LiPo's are an interesting item with a love/hate aspect to them but treat them good and they last years. Traxxas batteries and chargers are good to work with too and Traxxas CS, from my experience, does a good job at helping their customers regarding LiPo's. For you, I definitely recommend getting the Traxxas Cell Checker unless you are using a Live Charger, so you have access to see the voltage of the cells. I like to check my packs once in a while for the peace of mind.
      These battery safes are worth taking a look at: www.amainhobbies.com/batsafe-lipo-charging-case-baf-bat-safe/p-qualqskqgc2xactz
      Regarding your EPA adjustments; it only works if you have the TQi Transmitter; the TQ doesn't have the same programming options.
      Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions!

      @shadenphoenix 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only one question i can think of just yet, that i can't find online. Does the xl5 esc/trx4 sport receiver fit both transmitters? My research seems to show the same electronics on sport and trx4/6, but the others have the multi- channel transmitter. Do i just need the tqi transmitter linked to my current sport system? Or new transmitter And receiver?

    • @AMain_Hobbies
      @AMain_Hobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shadenphoenix My guess is you'll need a new receiver to upgrade to a TQi with the TRX4 Sport, but you'll have to double check your receiver compatibility (I don't know what it is). Check out this page from Traxxas: traxxas.com/support/Traxxas-TQi-Compatibility-Guide
      -Brett

    • @shadenphoenix
      @shadenphoenix 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was perfect! Exactly what i needed to know. My trx4 sports do come with the red TQ logo, so they are compatible with the TQi transmitter on the same receiver. The only thing it's missing is the 'telemetry' which i don't need. So i can add extra channels with an upgraded transmitter. I would say "you should work for traxxas to improve their customer service", but i think I'll just support AMain instead. ;P

    Brett, you are my new RC best friend! I have had absolutely NO interest in Traxxas products ever since they launched for various reasons. Then I saw the factory five '33 coupe and '35 truck and absolutely fell in love. The downside is that it is a Traxxas, so I never bought one. However, I just got my very first Traxxas vehicle for Christmas...a '33 coupe. The very reason I have never bought a Traxxas is the whole "if you have a Traxxas vehicle you MUST have a TRAXXAS charger and you MUST have a TRAXXAS battery and etc. etc. etc. I do not like that one bit. The person that bought me the vehicle had no idea of that fact. So now I am stuck with it and need a battery and charger for it if I want to actually RUN it instead of putting it on the shelf. Since I have absolutely no interest in Traxxas, I have no knowledge of what I needed and once again your videos helped me out tremendously in finding what I needed and saved me HOURS of research. THANK YOU BRETT! You are the man.

      Happy we could help Roloreo and congrats on the '33 coupe! That must be the 4-Tec 3.0 chassis, which is stretched a bit for more high-speed stability; it's really nice! For the batts, i've seen some videos around youtube about changing the connectors, but it's not something I can help you with. But if you did want to drive it, maybe it's an option to use your existing batts. Have fun and thanks for the comment.

    • @AMain_Hobbies
      @AMain_Hobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jhony. LiPo battery packs are made by wiring individual battery cells together inside it. If the battery has only one cell, we call it a 1S; if the battery has two cells, we call it a 2S; if it's three cells it's 3S, and so on. The more cells the battery includes, the more power the battery contains. The X-Maxx will operate on 6S and 8S power, and is achieved by using two battery packs, which means it requires two 3S batteries for 6S power, or two 4S batteries for 8S power. If you want maximum power, we recommend the Traxxas combo which includes the charger and two batteries: www.amainhobbies.com/traxxas-ezpeak-live-4s-completer-pack-multichemistry-battery-charger-tra2997/p1150094

      AMain Hobbies - I did. I ran them in a UDR. They are at roughly 3.78V per cell and balanced, I had actually only charged one of them because one was accidentally stored full. So I charged the second one, and ran them both together to storage voltage in the UDR. No unfortunately. Because of how the Traxxas iD connector integrates the balance wire into the connector, only Traxxas chargers can safely charge & balance Traxxas LiPos. You'll need to have two different charges systems, Traxxas & Spektrum. With the Spektrum G2 LiPo's, they too are featuring integrated balance wires so they'll only be chargeable with G2 Spektrum Chargers. This type of product makes me feel sorry for enthusiasts that have not flown FPV quads. This all sounds antiquated and out date. All of this battery information is cross platform with FPV quads being the Top. Battery charging with quads is still using balance leads and much higher C rated batteries and higher charging rates. Simplicity is nice but not at the expense of being brand locked. There are surprisingly more versatile and powerful chargers at one quarter the price than what Traxxas offers as long as you do not use Traxxas batteries for their ease of use feature. Nobody would intentionally pay a 50% premium for similar fuel for their real car.Rite? Not trying to be a negative Nelly, But look at what the racing quad industry has accomplished with batteries ESC"s and flight controllers. Then look at your planes and cars. Add a BEC to your ESC and you have A 32bit 50 AMP ESC for 30 bucks U.S. And yes 32 bit maters. And yes 6s is possible and with some 8s.

    Why can 't you charge a non traxxas battery on this charger? Say you buy ZOP power battery with an xt90 or whatever, couldn't you just put a TRX connector on it and use it with this charger?

    • @cmc214
      @cmc214 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YNTGUNS The cable on your rustler, you can change out the battery connector to a more widely used style and use non-Traxxas batteries. You can also buy an adapter that will allow you to use non-traxxas batteries. Using all the Traxxas stuff is no big deal only becomes an issue if you have a bunch of other brands too and try to share the batteries.

      No, it's dangerous because the packs will not discharge equally. In a two battery vehicle, both packs should be the same model, with same use/cycle life.
