    Served my apprenticeship on ALL these Ferguson/Massey Fergusons as an agri engineer, later operating ALL the Ferguson's/Massey Ferguson's up to the Massey 6180, a most excellent product & easy to repair when needed, which was not often.

    Massey ferguson 135 hands down best 45 hp tractor ever made on the planet. Plus Ferguson patented the 3 point system I'd say that's another notch on massey Ferguson belt for best tractor. I have a 1972 135 with 5678 hrs. Out of 8 people I help on their farm with mine they have new there breaks down while mine keeps breaking up soil.

    Excellent video and a great insight into how they were built. I heard the Ferguson factory was the best facility of its kind in Europe, sad to think where it is today.

    I work near Banner Lane now, and it's extraordinary to see what used to be there. All that remains of Massey Ferguson is the 1965 tower block, but there are plans to demolish that next year too.

    I did the two week standard tractor service course at Stoneleigh and then later an advanced tractor service course. I worked at a MF dealership for from leaving school 13 years and it was the best job ever apart from the money. I really enjoyed my work but it just didn't pay. I left and went to work on Hyster fork lift trucks and within two years I had double my pay. Sooner have worked on MF stuff though.

    It was MF s golden era..but no one realised it at the time. Same with the DB/CASE works in Huddersfield and Doncaster

    Banner Lane MF factory 🏭 was an icon for UK. What happened to all the assembly plant equipment of the factory? We saw on Utube in dismay the destruction of MF Towers 😤. Is there any chance that any high agricultural equipment manufacturer restart production of at least MF 100, 200 & 300 series agricultural tractors again for the millions of farmers around the world 🌎. MF tractors are proven reliable tractors 🚜.

      Oh yea, and how did Brows Lane become home to an Amazon distribution center? Strikes and people being overpaid sounds about right.

    At one time Massey Ferguson sold 25% more tractors then it's nearest competitor. I grew up driving the 100 and 200 series. Today I have a Massey Ferguson 3070 92hp and a 39hp IMT 539 with power steering it's the same as a TO35 Massey Ferguson .

    Fergusons and Massey Fergusons are the best and only Tractors in the World.....I started working with a Ferguson TEF-20 in 1960 in the West coast of Scotland and went on to Masseys until I left the UK and went to Asia where I now live in Goa with my Balinese wife....we import used Fergusons ( which are now getting hard to find) and Massey 135s upwards only, we teach operating and maintenance on these Tractors and sales for these Tractors was in abundance....but Chinese Tractors are now muscling in with cheap unreliable short lived Tractors....but we have had a good run at the used Tractor import business for over 35 years here so can,t complain.

      It amazes me when you travel round the world how many countries you see the old Masseys working in. Are there many left around Goa that you imported? Where did you get your parts out there for them?

      I don’t think it was criminal. Too many employees building few too many tractors. The unions were too greedy...not criminal. Every worker had a ‘elper’ and perhaps stopped too often for a ‘spot of tea. Harry Ferguson made a bad choice when he sold out to the Canadian Company Massey Harris. This Company was run by accountants and lawyers who were only interested in dividends for themselves. Never put any money back into developing new tractors like company’s like John Deere. One of the most noteworthy executives of Massey Ferguson was Conrad Black. He had the good fortune of receiving a pardon from Donald Trump. This will now give you hint why Massey Ferguson became only a shadow of what it was.

    • @keiththomas2016
      @keiththomas2016 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you notice the wheels were used, they fitted them to tractors that were going to be packed for export (PKD) new wheels and tyres were sent with the packed tractors, the old wheels returned to the factory to be fitted again to another tractor to be sent for packing.

    I remember during the 1980's a farmer I knew went for a tour around Banner Lane. The first thing the guide said to them before they entered the actual factory was "DON'T speak to anyone on the production line, you might bring them out on strike again!"

    It's a pity that this tractor has been painted in the wrong green color! This model has been produced from 1954 on, engine is not a 6.3 litre, but a 10 litre version.
