RIP Banner Lane. This closure should never have happened. A pure disgrace.

4255 with power shuttle snoop nose and loader was an awsome tractor and punched well above its weight in power then they brought out 4355 and that was guttless but fantastic britt built kit made by craftsmen

Banner Lane was a nice factory and UK Stoneleigh is still the Headquarters. For now the France production is good but it is not cheap labour. Global manufactury is growing with a factory in Jackson USA and one in China. But this year they will also open Beauvais 2 in France as a cab factory/sale training facility.

Never seen this film before, thanks. I often wonder ' where are they now' and givve thaks to the folk who designed and built them: Anyone ( of them) who was involved in the construction / assembly of ( MF) machinery from the late 60's - 70's ? Wouldn't it be greatto meet up with folk from the assembly line and made the 135/ 165's etc.

AW sorry your wrong, it was more than big enough as we all know, I guess the American just asset stripped the plant and now a chip shop stands where we put our lives into MF Banner Lane, just crazy decision no matter how you look at it, my 34 years and my parents before me just wasted our working lives...but can only say I would never go back even if it was there..and I haven't.

Jim Cross, I've been back there and it's criminal what happened. I spent many, many happy weeks at Stoneleigh training centre in the mid to late nineties and also visited the factory in 1996.

Jim Cross mentioned full order books as a reason for keeping the plant at Banner Lane. The plant just wasn't big enough to keep up with the orders. The plant's footprint was to small to allow for the expansion and modernization needed. Even if the plant had stayed in England it would not have been at Banner Lane. As for cheap labor labor cost, labor cost in France are just as high if not higher. As for tax cost the US has the second highest corporate tax rates in the world.

Odd you say the plant was not big enough? why then was it was at one time the largest Tractor plant in the world? sorry, you are incorrect with your assumptions. I careless now where the factory has been sent, but for sure MF lost so much industrial know how and lost workers who knew how to make a great Tractors. By the way, there was plenty of land available to expand, this was NO excuse.
