Här i Dalsbruk (Södra Finland) fanns det en kille som skröt på sin båtmotor. "Den startar ALLTID på första försöket. Det gjorde motorn också. Sanningen var det att han nästan övervarvade maskinen med startveven. Dessutom släppte han den inte förrän den startade.

The thought had occurred to me... is it turning the right way? Does it make any difference with two-stroke diesel engines? Glad you could get your extreme fuel vaporization device running!
Some hotbulb engines are sensitive and do not want to go in the wrong direction or otherwise they run badly. What you have to keep an eye on in some cases is that the oil pump does not work in the wrong direction

The belt is slipping off and needs some molasses or treacle or maple syrup putting on it.
58 years ago I used belt driven machinery and when the main belt slipped I had to drip molasses mixture on every few weeks.
Bältet glider av och behöver lite melass eller treacle eller lönnsirap sätta på det.
För 58 år sedan använde jag bältdrivna maskiner och när huvudbältet gled var jag tvungen att droppa melassblandningen varannan vecka.
Finally they found out engine has to run clockwise on the operators side.
They run, should run to both directions, believe me!

I think when the engines were new and went into daily operation, there were no major starting problems like now

А я видел как колхозники запускали такую нефтянку снимали головку кидали под нее раскаленный чугунный шар быстро прикручивали голову и с маховика заводили это чудовище а мне влетало в школе за опоздание это чудо стояло на маслобойке по пути в школу

this motor has a centrifugal regulator that needs to be lubricated

In a diesel engine you have glowplugs, here is the burner thats makes the same thing as a glowplugs
