The actress that plays Camille is Mike Flanagan's wife. She was in The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and Hush. And yes, she's a drop dead gorgeous looking woman.
This show is going to be Mike's most talked about show I can feel it, I also love how queer it is and the comedy is just right, look at that it's cake!
Watching this show as an Edgar Allan Poe reader is SUCH AN EXPERIENCE. When I watched it the first time, I was bouncing off the walls in excitement with every reference I spotted. (Btw Eliza was Poe's mother AND his wife's middle name, her first name was Virginia, so GREAT catch. And William Longfellow was named after a writer William Longfellow, a writer that Poe was VERY critical of, even acusing him of plagiarism once. Another cool nod to Poe in this episode is that the priest at the beginning is reciting excerpts of two of his poems, "For Annie" and "Spirits of the Dead")
Keep in mind while watching this that Bruce Greenwood (old Rodrick) replaced Frank Langella 3/4 into filming, so practically every shot with Bruce Greenwood in it was part of emergency reshoots!
18:10 if it's "Non Vesets Virtute" that's "Do not grow weary of virtue", which seems plausible. That said, I simply can't zoom in enough on mobile to see clearly.
Mary McDonnell as present day Mads is perfect and terrifying and honestly… I’d do anything she says 🔥 This show is an insane ride, but Flanagan manages to anchor it well so you don’t get lost. The emotional rollercoaster you’ll go on however… is off the rails!
I just finished the season a couple of hours ago and all I have to say is WOW, Mike Flanagan needs to pay for MY THERAPY. Also love that he made this for the sad, literary girlies, with all the stories drawing inspiration from Edgar Allen Poe works. Looking forward to watching your journey through the ✨mayhem✨ and ✨devastation✨ of this series. Definitely my favourite Mike Flanagan series so far (though my favourite work of his is still Doctor Sleep, and was thrilled to see how many actors from that film appeared in House of Usher, too!)
I am sooooo excited to see you watch this. I am a huge Poe nerd and love Mike's works and devoured this show so quick and immediately needed reactions. It's so, so good. I am SO ready. Also, Verna is an anagram for Raven.
My favorite Flanagan movie is Oculus, such a mind f*ck. The Haunting of Hill House, this current series, man, i love them all. He makes such SMART content. I love his dialogue. It is art.
YAY!!! I can't wait for the next episode. You guys are in for a treat with this series. The range of these actors is amazing. Most of them are from Mike's other projects, the younger cast from The Midnight Club. Also, I say this every video I watch, but Cody is SO DAMN smart.
I love how knowledgeable Cody is when it comes to Poe's writings. I can see how giddy he gets when he's talking about the elements in the show so far. I always have fun watching y'alls reactions! Big bear hugs! 💜🐻
I just watched episode 3 yesterday, and I cannot wait to follow this with you guys. Watching movies and TV shows is so much more enjoyable with Cody and Sergio.
Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell,Ruth Codd,Kate Siegel,T’Nia Miller,Willa Fitzgerald ,Katie Parker,Crystal Balint,Kyliegh Curran,Annabeth Gish and Samantha Sloan all made the show! The gentleman were awesome also! All acting powerhouses!
YES!! So excited that you're reacting to this. I binged the whole thing the weekend it came out. It's so, so good. Mike Flanagan hits it out of the park yet again.
You all have stronger will power than me! I was so hooked from episode 1 and binge-watched the whole series. I look forward to watching your reactions! Every episode delivers
THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER CHARACTERS/CAST: Verna ( Carla Gugino ) Roderick Usher ( Bruce Greenwood/Zach Gilford ) Madeline Usher ( Mary McDonnell/Willa Fitzgerald/Lulu Wilson ) Frederick Usher ( Henry Thomas ) Camille L'Espanaye ( Kate Siegel ) Napoleon "Leo" Usher ( Rahul Kohli ) Tamerlane Usher ( Samantha Sloyan ) Victorine LaFourcade ( T'Nia Miller ) Rufus Griswold ( Michael Trucco ) Annabel Lee ( Katie Parker ) Prospero "Perry" Usher ( Sauriyan Sapkota ) William "Bill-T" Wilson ( Matt Biedel ) Moselle Usher ( Crystal Balint ) Juno Usher ( Ruth Codd ) Lenore Usher ( Kyliegh Curran ) C. Auguste Dupin ( Carl Lumbly/Malcolm Goodwin ) Arthur Pym ( Mark Hamill ) Eliza Usher ( Annabeth Gish ) William Longfellow ( Robert Longstreet ) Dr. Alessandra "Al" Ruiz ( Paola Nuñez )
OMG! I just binge watched this series this weekend then watched your reactions! I love your reactions and can't wait for your next video! You are in for a wild ride! I'm so glad Cody can spot alot of Poe references! Love you guys, best reactions!
SO glad you lads are reacting to this (just finished it 2 days ago after taking my time with it during the week). This is a great show and I am excited to hear that you will be doing _Midnight Mass_ and _The Haunting of Bly Manor_ as well! 💜💜
I CAN'T WAIT for yall to watch Bly Manor! I've seen people say that Hill House is a story about family, Midnight Mass about religion, Midnight Club is about death, and Usher is about immortality. I love Bly Manor the most because it's really a story about love, and I think you guys will adore it
I’ve watched so many reactions to this show and so far your reaction and comments are the best and catch a LOT of references to Edgar Allen Poe’s work. ❤
This was only Ruth Codd (The Midnight Club), Sauriyan Sapkota (The Midnight Club) & Kyliegh Curran (Doctor Sleep) 2nd roles and they ATE 👏 THEM 👏 UP! I see all 3 of them are definitely going places! Just you wait!
I'm late to the party because I didn't have Netflix until recently (I cancelled it after Haunting of Hill house, so I've been missing out on the other Flanagan shows). I LOVE that they have a character named Annabel Lee. I named my daughter Annabel Lee from Poe's poem and I was ecstatic to find out it was a character in this show (even better that she was good character) 😀
So glad y'all did this cuz y'all inspired me to watch the show since I didn't know anything about it! What I've seen, it's a WILD ride and I'm ready for it all - both the show and y'all reactions!
Definitely mystery. Edgar Allen Poe literally invented or at least is commonly credited with creating the entire genre of detective story, in Murder at the Rue Morgue. Detective Dupin was sort of the blueprint for both Sherlock Holmes and Poirot
this show looks so good I’m very excited to watch you guy’s reaction to it also I love Cody telling everyone the reference the show makes to Edgar Allan Poe I would honestly watch a whole video or series of videos of Cody talking about him 🖤
This show was phenomenal. So happy yall are reacting.❤ love bly manor and hill house too. Hard to choose between this and hill house as my fave. Might still have to be hill house but it's very close
I've been counting the days for you guys to do this one. Love you both! I'm shocked you caught the room colors. Big applause. That one for me was super obscure and I realized it like in episode 6. I was like "those are the room colors! cool reference!" And yes. We all got the hots for Rahul Kohli
I saw the jester and flipped out! That is my favorite story and favorite character from all of Edgar Allan Poe! I hate the character in this show, but in the original story he is my favorite! But also, yeah each kid is based off a different story. And all the deaths are references as well. The most confusing from a reference point is the Gold Bug, but that’s because they are actually using two stories for that particular character.
I just finished this show today. It's killer. I can't wait to watch the rest of your reactions, especially with the literary knowledge in play. Y'all are going to love it. It's wild and SO good. Honestly, I think it's my favourite Flanagan work so far. I want to see if he picked up/recognised everything that I did. =D
Thank you for reacting to this show. I look forward to all your reaction videos to all episodes. I already finished watching them all and I love it. Please do watch Midnight Mass, you'll love it too.
I'm binge watching yall reactions to this show because I just finished watching the show. I'm still in the beginning of this video but have you also read The Cask of Amontillado? Did you pick up on the name Fortunato? Fortunato is the name of a character in that story who wasn't so "fortunate" 😉
@thehorrorbandwagon 12:46 Same Rahul Kohli is so cute! And he is an absolute sweetheart! He is friends with a gaming youtuber I watch Alanah Pearce and he is always on her channel and podcasts. He has never said anything about his sexuality but he has made references to hot guys…and loving the gay fans. But then he has also mentioned things about going to a strip straight club. So not sure if he actually is but I get the sense that he is bi or pansexual. Which makes him even sexier.
Please do IZombie soon. It has one of the kids in it (Rahul Kohli) and you guys would adore it You know a show/movie is good when the title card gives you shivers every single time Also Juno is one of my absolute favorites
Thank you and thank God that we FINALLY have a reactor that is familiar with the source material. I went through an Poe phase and devoured all of his stories and poems. The series and the hysterically funny black humor is even more enjoyable when you're familiar with the source. Side note: meeting a dude at an unknown location after midnight is just par for the course for anyone on Grindr
I wish y’all just binged this and made one long video cause I NEED y’all’s reactions now! 😂😂❤❤
I agree with that
yass!!!!!! been waiting for the second video XD cant wait !!!
Hahah, yaaaas
"wait this is kind of fierce" me the entire show
"Aww nuts! Mom's a ghost!"
Girl, I laughed so hard on lunch break in the middle of the mall food court
The actress that plays Camille is Mike Flanagan's wife. She was in The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and Hush. And yes, she's a drop dead gorgeous looking woman.
"Prospero was the name of the..."
Me: I see you are a man of culture.
Verna is an anagram for Raven, so yes she's definitely the raven.
Loved the reaction, can't wait to rewatch this with you!
I was just about to say this
As someone who always wondered what succession would looking if it were horror, this show is scratching many itches.
!!!!!yes
Pretty much 😅
Literally what I was thinking 😂
Get ready for a wild -ass ride! This show was incredible! The moment I was finished with it I wanted to rewatch it immediately.
i regretted when i finished it....because i will never be able to experience it for the first time again. Amazing show
Love, love, love Mike Flanagan’s work. The man’s a master storyteller 😎
This show is going to be Mike's most talked about show I can feel it, I also love how queer it is and the comedy is just right, look at that it's cake!
The cinematography, the outfits, the music, the atmosphere
This show was *CHEFS KISS*
I'm obsessed with the whole Mike Flannaverse series! And now I'm obsessed with you both. Can't wait for the rest and Bly and Midnight Mass.
Watching this show as an Edgar Allan Poe reader is SUCH AN EXPERIENCE. When I watched it the first time, I was bouncing off the walls in excitement with every reference I spotted. Keep in mind while watching this that Bruce Greenwood (old Rodrick) replaced Frank Langella 3/4 into filming, so practically every shot with Bruce Greenwood in it was part of emergency reshoots!
Bruce knocked it out of the park tho!
Ooh no way! I can totally see why they cast the younger Roderick becuase he does look a little more like Langella than Greenwood.
@@ayaehab oh completely! This might be my favorite performance I've seen him give. Honestly it all worked out for the better here!
I, too, appreciate Cody’s knowledge. I watched the series already and missed a lot so im excited for the rest of the series from you guys
The journey ya'll are taking with this show! The easter eggs for Poe nerds!
Cody out here with all the FACTS!! His knowledge knows no bounds.
18:10 if it's "Non Vesets Virtute" that's "Do not grow weary of virtue", which seems plausible. That said, I simply can't zoom in enough on mobile to see clearly.
Zoomed in its clearly "Non vi sed virtute" - "Not by force, but by virtue". Even more apropos.
Mary McDonnell as present day Mads is perfect and terrifying and honestly… I’d do anything she says 🔥
This show is an insane ride, but Flanagan manages to anchor it well so you don’t get lost. The emotional rollercoaster you’ll go on however… is off the rails!
Ayeee Midnight Mass is my favorite

12:46 this is how this man makes me feel very time I spot him in one of Flanagan's project, I squeal in joy
I just watched episode 3 yesterday, and I cannot wait to follow this with you guys. Watching movies and TV shows is so much more enjoyable with Cody and Sergio.
I love that you are getting some of the reference because yo know Poe's work..that makes this journey more enjoyable.

Yall are in for a huge treat, this was so good!
26:00 and in the story the person who is lured down and buried alive is named Fortunado.

Litterally just finished binging this in 1 day and immediately had to see yalls reaction to this! 😂❤
Please more!! Cody is so great for coming in with past lore! ✨obsessed✨
Is the jester a Danse Macabre reference and a Hop-Frog? Ugh, it also makes me want to pull out my Poe, it's been too long!
I loveee watching you nerd out to this!!!
Yesss!! So excited for yall to watch!!
So glad y'all did this cuz y'all inspired me to watch the show since I didn't know anything about it! What I've seen, it's a WILD ride and I'm ready for it all - both the show and y'all reactions!

That jester near on gave me a heart attack at the end of the episode 😂
Every episode when the title pops up all I hear in my head is "These are my confessions" sang slow and echoey to make it scary lol.
I am SO excited to see you guys watch this fantastic series!
just finished bingeing this
This is definitely in the Top 3 of Mike's best works in Netflix
YAYYYY this show is so good and you're some of my favorite reactors i'm so excited
i Just binged 8 hour of this shit!! I loved it. just wow. I've enjoyed all mike flanigans shows, they're incredible.
I've been counting the days for you guys to do this one. Love you both!
I'm shocked you caught the room colors. Big applause. That one for me was super obscure and I realized it like in episode 6. I was like "those are the room colors! cool reference!"

Yeeeeah buddy. I was hoping y'all would react to this show! 😊😊
Did you guys watch Flanagan's other series?
one of the greats masterpieces of this decade
Alright y’all I need the reactions to all episodes yesterday, please & thanks!
Can Cody explain why their meeting is taking place on the 20th of November, 2023 - i.e. a few weeks AFTER the show first aired?
Oh boy, y’all aren’t ready for episode 2.

Thank you for reacting to this show. I look forward to all your reaction videos to all episodes. I already finished watching them all and I love it. Please do watch Midnight Mass, you'll love it too.
Fun fact: Verna is an anagram for Raven. As in THE Raven. Quoth the Raven "Nevermore" Raven
I'm excited for your reactions to this, but when are you finishing Scream Queens season two?! 😭
my fav show from mike until now
Same, I was so hooked. Most entertaining one he's made.
I'm binge watching yall reactions to this show because I just finished watching the show. I'm still in the beginning of this video but have you also read The Cask of Amontillado? Did you pick up on the name Fortunato? Fortunato is the name of a character in that story who wasn't so "fortunate" 😉
It was an awesome series with a great cast!
A Ghost? And yes there are a few more movies, there was a recent one actually. Last year or so I think.
I need more episode reaction 😩😩😍😍😍😍😍
Wait for it, the 2nd episode is the best!
If you haven't watched The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass those were my favourite Mike Flanagan shows but everything he does is great.
I AM SO EXCITED yall are covering this show its SO GOOOOOD
I’ve watched a lot of House of Usher reactions. And so far, you are the first people to assume that Verna is a witch.
B!tchhhhhh, yes. She was the President. I'm so happy someone else noticed that. So say we all!
@thehorrorbandwagon 12:46 Same Rahul Kohli is so cute! And he is an absolute sweetheart! He is friends with a gaming youtuber I watch Alanah Pearce and he is always on her channel and podcasts.

any more episodes coming?
Please do IZombie soon. It has one of the kids in it (Rahul Kohli) and you guys would adore it
You know a show/movie is good when the title card gives you shivers every single time
Also Juno is one of my absolute favorites
Me watching 25:50-26:00 already knowing how the show ends: 👁👃🏾👁
Calling “The Haunting of Hill House” “House on Haunted Hill” is like calling “Star Wars” “Star Trek”😂
Hmmm, V-E-R-N-A.... R-A-V-E-N, nah Verna couldn't possibly be the Raven...lolololol
