  • Can Steve the amateur (A MATE U R ) mechanic replace the front wheel bearing on his MG TF daily driver?
Another exciting video in the Steve's amateur garage series, this time the front wheel bearing needs to be replaced on his daily driven MG TF, this informational video would also apply to the similar MGF. So having owned this car for about 5 years I ask myself is the MG TF the best bargain British sports car you can buy? I love its practicality and reliability. So to answer the question , should you buy an MG TF roadster after a test drive I would highly recommend it, it's fun on a budget! Unlike the MG 100 currently on show at Retromobile, I must do a MG FT buyers guide video in the not to distant future. The MG TF is a modern classic and it turns out the MG TF isn't completely terrible after all, the Limited Edition MG TF Spark is probably the most desirable in the buyer guide to the MGTF & MGF.
The project MGTF could easily be described as the last Great British sports car, as described in the Fifth Gear - MGTF review, soft top showdown. In the next few weeks we will be repairing the TF 02 sensor, the engine mounts and the annoying rattle coming from inside the door.

I bought a bearing separator and puller to removed the part of the bearing attached to the flange, didn’t trust myself cutting the old bearing with an angle grinder!

      Hi,
Many thanks for your comments, glad you are inspired and enjoying them. MG TF 80th Anniversary, a great choice. I always follow a Haynes or similar manual, even if you have reasonable idea of the process, it's just reassurance for me. Yes a good socket set and spanners, jack and stands, torque wrench and I would say a tapper splitting tool for ball joints will always come in handy, then just slowly add to your tools as and when you find you need them, you will soon find you have a tool for every job. Have fun on Saturday and I am sure you will love it as much as I love mine, they are a fantastic car for the money.
      Regards
      Steve
