Looks like typical Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb NW swell Rincon Day. but with some storm bump. I worked for a company on the bluff and was so fun surfing before work whenever there was swell.

Like watching videos, it looks like down by SD is the cleanest. Black beach, Seaside, and Swamis looks better than some of the places you drove past up by SB. Anyway, it's fun watching you surf !

Love the video Lakey . 3 things Number1 Thomas is a lucky man and rips #2 Leakey you surf Rincon as well as Tom Curran who I witnessed in lineup many times in late 80’s #was that Carolina Marks at sands pit? Looked like her wicked backhand .
My problem I moved to the high desert in California back in 93 from the Ventura area I was a decent surfer for a decade I took up mountain biking about 5 years ago and I can do 28 miles and 3000 ft of elevation climb and ride 3 days a week with 6 or more hours of riding . I have also raced . My last in November. Now I have periodically went to the coast to surf but I am like a beginner . Yes I am in my early 60s but my biking gives me a fitness in my 40s . I would like to return to surfing but maybe once a month at best . What would you recommend to condition for surfing but can't do it enough to really get in surfing shape . I don't have access to a pool. I just started weightlifting and keeping it light . Shoulders and paddling is a big one to survive in the water any length of time and the pop up as that can suck up the energy. Cardio and lung capacity should be good from biking . I have a 10 foot single fin longboard and a 8 foot thruster with 4 other short boards from my past . Might need a different board . Any suggestions to get some fun in the water with not allot of time to do it .
Wow, sounds like your fit with the riding your doing Steven. Surfing is such a hard one… the paddle motion is so hard to replicate in a gym. Resistance band standing paddler holds is something that I do if I haven’t surfed for a while. It’s pretty much replicating the paddle motion into an isometric exercise.
Good question! I know a lot of the boys were up Santa Cruz way and scored big time... SB is prob the most user friendly area on bigger swells to attracts most the crowds and attention maybe???
Nice video, but I am confused, this is hyped as the biggest swell in decade, but rincon looked to be about 3-4 foot. It this the the wrong swell direction, wrong day, what is the explanation?
Haha Santa Barbara region really doesn’t get much swell at all. The day before this at Rincon was bigger however just washing through.. you’ll see that in the drone footage of Ventura point… our points don’t handle too much swell 😂
