This is the best perfection loop and connection video...bar none!! Thanks for a great lesson. The tip on threading the leader through the line loop is fantastic!!
Thank you for the great comparison of these knots. The bimini is a bit much for me and I like the way the "surgeons" knot lays and it is a bit easier for these old fingers and eyes to tie while in the house and on the river.
Paul Nichols Thanks for your comments, Paul. Totally understand about the difficulty of the Bimini, but it is a great knot with good light, time and lots of practice!
So much easier to just make a loop and pull the tip through the circle n pull it tight. Works just fine. This perfection knot is a pain on tapered leaders.
These are a great set of knot tutorials but I don't quite believe the strength of the Perfection loop. In my, 50 year, experience it is more like 75% of the breaking strain of the line used.

What is it that you use when lubricating the knot? Why do you think it's better than for example saliva?
The grease in the chapstick provides less friction than saliva, so the knots tighten better, and get less "kinks" than with saliva.
@@RIOPRODUCTS ok, tks. But what exactly is a "chapstick"? Lipbalm, or what? I'm Swedish, thus the question.
@@hemsjohultet Ah, sorry, yes it is lip balm

What is the purpose of wetting the knot?
Wetting the knot lubricates it so that it tightens smoothly
@@RIOPRODUCTS thank you for the reply also thanks for the super informative video
